2 Chapter 2: Cinderella Hearst

Cindy woke up with a gasp. Her back was drenched in sweat and she felt that her skin was cold. She did not know why in several times she have lived, it was the first time she had dreamed the forgotten memory of her first life and stupid death.

"Damn it," she cussed while clutching her bangs.

Only a knock was able to divert her attention from the seemingly horrible memory of the past.

"Come in."

Anna, her personal maid, opened the door immediately and quickly closing when confirmed that her miss was awake.

"Good morning!" the maid energetically greeted the grumpy girl.

"Yeah. I know its morning."

Even though the girl responded rather coldly, the ball of sunshine maid still beamed. Cindy had the urge to cover her eyes even though the sunlight was still covered by the curtain. She thinks that Anna's smile was too blinding for her sensitive eyes.

"Let's get you going, miss. You'll be late for school."

The grumpy girl begrudgingly threw the covers aside and went to the bathroom immediately. She did not let the maid affect her mood furthermore.

Cindy stared vacantly to the reflection in the mirror. The girl staring back at her has a big cat-like purple eyes, small nose, and plump lips. It was a pretty face even for a 18-year old girl like her. However, when looking closely, the girl wore a cold but tired face; the mature composure and air she emit was like those who had lived for a long time.

"It was too far from my old faces."

If compared to her old faces, this was far more prettier than them. The harmony of the features was too much charming that you can't look away when you start staring at it.

"I should get moving," the girl snapped out of her thoughts.

*

"Hey! She's coming!"

Cindy heard these whispers, that does not really sounds like whisper as they were too loud to even hear from the distance, from both girls and boys in her school. She was used to this treatment, thus, ignored them all and headed to her classroom.

It was her last semester in high school and she cannot wait until she finish it. Although she already studies for a lot of times in different worlds and eras, it never failed to amaze her how the knowledge differ for each life she had lived... but she's already bored with the unending cycle.

"Wanna end this life already," she quietly murmured.

Unbeknownst to her, someone heard her words and dropped the book he was reading and looked at her wide-eyed.

"What?"

She looked at her side, particularly to the weird student who was staring at her. Cindy frowned at him and gave him a judging stare.

"What are you looking at?"

"Emo," she heard him mutter.

"What...?"

"A pretty, emo girl."

"What the heck?" a vein popped on Cindy's forehead. After deliberating for a while, she chose to counter his immature words.

"Freak."

The man was expressionless for a while before the corner of his mouth tilted upward. She was dazzled only before he opened his mouth that made several veins popped on her forehead.

*"Mooncalf."

*

"It was only the first day after your holiday break, miss. Why did you get immediately into an argument?"

Cindy did not answered Anna as her head was still not cool enough to talk calmly. It was uncharacteristically of her to be insulted by someone and involved in any uncivilized argument. Her maid did not prodded more into the subject as it was the first time she saw her boss pissed by someone, to the point that Cindy was ready to throw any objects within her reach.

"But I didn't know that he was the famous son of the new president?"

"What?"

"You didn't know? There was already a new president. You were with your parents when you voted for the first time."

"No, Anna, the first one."

"The... that I did not know?"

"Anna!"

"Okay! I know now! Geez! Please speak more clearly."

"..."

Cindy did not speak and stared with glaring eyes to the girl. The one receiving her glare got obviously nervous and gave her a crook smile.

"I only heard the director of your school say that he was the new president of the country!"

"It's easy to be tactful at times right?"

"Well..."

"Just... don't speak anymore, Anna. I'm tired."

Like a puppy, her personal maid bowed her head like a puppy who was guilty for ruining the furniture and things of her owner.

Cindy did not paid her any more concern as she was too absorbed by what she was thinking. Before reason left her, a word she has heard somewhere in her life left her agitated. She just do not remember when was it but she was sure that she heard it somewhere before.

'Maybe it was just insignificant word.' shrugging the bugging feeling, she just concluded that it was maybe included in the eroded insignificant memories of the past.

Cindy prevented on thinking furthermore. She'll just thought of ways to get back to that man, whether he was the president's son or a divine descendant.

*

The man Cindy was just thinking of, was now staring at their car as it drive past the gate, with a pleasant smile on his face.

"Adam," a pretty handsome guy with a blond hair and green eyes called him from his back.

"Arthur," the black haired man with a reddish brown eyes greeted him with a smile still hung to his lips.

"I heard you got into an argument with the hottest chic in school?"

"She's dubbed like that?" Arthur smiled and shrugged his shoulders.

"That's what they say."

"She's not that hot."

"I knew you'd say that," the blond man already new that he liked someone that was not from here. He was with Adam since god knows how long and already knew even his deepest secret that even his family did not know of.

"But she was interesting."

"She is."

"What's her name?" Arthur smiled merrily when his friend finally showed interest to someone.

"Cinderella Richmond. Definitely rich even with her name."

"Richmond..."

"An old money, right?"

"Hmm."

Adam fell into a deep thought as his eyes become more red than brown with its mysterious glint.
