Jin Lei’s Request

Being a father and mother to Lei is what he have done during this past 23 years of her life. When she first arrived at his life, he was full of hopes and full of love. He could not wait to see her grow and be the best in everything.

General Jin gave her everything she wanted even those ridiculous ones. He could not to say no to his princess and all the more he doted her like most of fathers would do to their daughters.

Its was just, sometimes, he thinks that maybe it has all to stop because she needed to know that there are things that could not be in her hands no matter how powerful they were. But then, how could he? He could not bare to see Lei to be upset, so he just approves her decisions whatever they may.

He did not raise a voice when she had her first tattoo. He even praised her saying that she's brave. He did not fuss when she cut her long black hair and dyed it into ash blond and with green on the edges. He just said that it was stylish and on trend. He did not get angry when she purposely beaten up her guards over nothing. He just sent them to the hospital and paid their bills.

General Jin was too afraid that one day his daughter will resent him for not granting her every request. He may not be a genie but he made it look it like that.

They even bought a snow wolf from the Arctic region that cost a hefty sum of money but he did not care as long as she will be happy and contented.

A year ago, he wanted Lei to resume her studies in Military Academy but she refused.

"Lei'er... Just this, after this you are free to do whatever you want. I don't want you to be left behind. I just want you to succeed." General Jin pleaded his headstrong daughter.

Lei just glanced over him and did not say anything. She looked at her father expressionless. Looking at his daughter, General Jin could not discern her thoughts. He really wanted her to have a degree. It's okay if after that she will not work until she get's old but all he wanted was to finish her studies in Military Academy.

After a long silence, she spoke, "I'll think about it." then she got out from their house and drove off with her red bike.

General Jin waited for her answer as days passed by that turned to weeks and weeks to months. It took Lei two months to decide if she will continue her study at the academy or not.

What she did not like in the academy was the theoretical aspect of their teaching, what she wanted was actual.

She wanted to experience the actual combat simulation and the actual handling of machinery of the military.

It's just that her father would oppose her whenever she wanted to use gun and ammo. He did not want her to learn how to kill and put the lives of people in her hands. Exaggerated may it seemed but it was General Jin's thoughts.

Given her character, she doesn't like to sit around like a princess.

"Dad, I have a request..." she said while they were eating dinner.

"Anything you like... What is it? Quick tell Daddy!" knowing her, it might turn out good and maybe she will agree to return to the academy. Whatever her request, he's bound to fulfill it no matter what was it.

"I want a boyfriend!" she had that serious look on her face upon saying this.

General Jin could not quite process what she said. It took several minutes before it dawned to him what Lei was saying.

"W-what?" his eyes bulged as he recalled the word boyfriend on his mind. He's not yet ready to give her away! No way!

"Lei'er.. You are still young... Boyfriends don't have to be caught or get that easily. And besides, every person will have someone as their fated person." he tried to plant some sense into his daughter's brain.

"Hmm... Then just introduce me to someone. I have someone whom I bet on. I really would like to know if he is my fated person." Lei would not back down so easily even she was discouraged by her father.

"May I know who is the lucky man?" gritting his teeth out of sheer anger, he asked his daughter who was the unlucky man... Err... Lucky man who caught her interest. So that, he could eliminate him even before he could corrupt her precious daughter.

"Chu, come here! Bring my ipad!" she shouted. A while later, a young man clad with military uniform of the Empire came in with an ipad on his hands.

He handed over it to Lei and discretely left the dining area without any sound.

She scanned some of the files from the military base and those were classified information about the soldiers they have planted on the different nations.

Looking at his daughter, he's quite in awe because it only meant that she hacked the military's information center with those in code red, the restricted files.

Her fingers are busy swiping the screen but she did not forgot to put a spoonful of food in her mouth from time to time.

After few minutes, she stopped at a certain profile and looked at it with a soft expression. She was even smiling.

'Here. Him. I want him!" saying this while showing the file of Yohan Lim to her father. The young man in the picture had a messy hair, an unkempt profile but he can say that the young man is quite handsome. He learned that he belonged to Commander Sun on the elite team based in Iraq.

"If I will fulfill the request, will you return to your studies at the Military Academy?" the General asked her. It was not to be easy but he will do it for her even if he has to beg his best friend.

"Mm..." was her short reply and resumed eating.

"Okay. I'll make things happen but you have to promise me to return and study there diligently and if not, our deal is off." he said sternly.

Lei pursed her pouty lips into a thin line and did not answer her father.
