10 Signing a contract with the devil

In a dimly lit room, Alexia hesitated for a moment before summoning the courage to speak. Her voice quivered as she addressed Leon, who exuded an air of quiet authority.

Leon leaned back, his features combining rugged charm with an underlying intensity. He looked like a fallen god of beauty. Sitting with crossed legs and this hand raising his chin.

Unbeknownst to Leon, Kayla had arrived with the intent to confront him for his earlier actions. However, she paused outside the door when she overheard Alexia's confession, feeling a pang of jealousy she hadn't expected.

The room was instantly filled with the scent of fresh roses which harassed his nostrils making deep breaths.

Kayl who never knew her cover was blown strained her ears to listen to their conversation.

Taking a deep breath, Alexia finally confessed, "Leon, I can't keep hiding my feelings. I've loved you for so long. I can't deny it anymore."

Leon maintained his stoic expression as he replied with a gravity that implied the weight of their agreement, "Alexia, you're aware that love was never part of our arrangement."

Alexia had braced herself for rejection, but Leon's unwavering stance hit her harder than she'd anticipated. She pleaded, her voice cracking, "Leon, I genuinely love you."

"We're done," Leon declared, signalling the premature end of their contract.

"But the one-month contract is only a week from completion," Alexia pointed out, desperation in her eyes.

Leon remained steadfast, "You breached the contract, and I have the right to terminate it."

"Come inside," Leon instructed.

Kayl was jolted back to reality, she knew she was caught, but she pretendednd she did not hear anything.

Alexia looked at the door trying to figure out who Leon is talking to.

"Do you want me to come and get you, pretty little thing?" Leon asked.

Hearing the term pretty little thing, Kayla knew he was talking about her. Like a kid caught red handed, Kayla opened the door and entered.

As Kayla looked at the striking beauty of Alexia, sympathy surged within her. She knew all too well the pain of loving without reciprocation.

Alexia, now seemingly undeterred, pointed at Kayla with frustration, "You're letting me go because of her?"

Leon's expression darkened, and anger radiated from him. "Alexia," he growled, a warning in his tone.

Confused, Kayla asked, "What did I do?"

"Do she know what you are?" Alexia asked, her desperation mixed with anger.

Leon's anger intensified, and he shot a chilling look at Alexia. "Do you want to die this badly?"

Fear welled up within Alexia, aware of the consequences of angering Leon. Yet, the idea of losing the man she loved to another woman was unbearable.

The room grew heavy with tension, and Kayla found herself entangled in a complex situation. Her sympathy for Alexia clashed with her fear of Leon's wrath.

Alexia, her voice trembling, attempted to reason, "Leon, please, just hear me out. I never intended to breach our contract."

Leon's eyes remained locked on Alexia, his words carrying the weight of their agreement. "Feelings were never part of our arrangement."

Finally, Kayla broke the silence. "I didn't mean to cause trouble; I didn't even know about your arrangement."

Leon turned his gaze toward Kayla, his piercing eyes softening slightly. "This isn't your fault."

Unwilling to give up, Alexia continued, "Leon, you can't just throw me aside like this."

Leon, his patience thinning, stated firmly, "I never loved you."

Hearing this, Alexia broke down in tears, the harsh reality of his words cutting deep.

As she left the room, Alexia vowed through her tears, "This isn't the last you'll hear from me."

Leon sat down, attempting to regain his composure.

Kayla, contemplating her own dire circumstances, weighed her options. The thought of returning to her nightmarish home was unbearable. She considered signing a similar contract with Leon, driven not only by curiosity but also by a desperate desire to escape her personal hell.

With a heavy heart and unwavering determination, Kayla finally spoke up, "Can I ask you something?"

Leon, his eyes closed, responded, "What is it?"

"I would like to sign a contract similar to hers," Kayla said, her voice filled with resolve.

Leon's eyes widened in surprise, but he quickly reminded her, "You know that I don't do love."

"I understand," Kayla replied, her gaze unwavering. Her decision was motivated by her longing to escape her tormenting reality, even if it meant venturing into the unknown with a man of secrets.

Leon studied Kayla for a moment, pondering her request, before finally saying, "You know I don't do love."

Kayla nodded, ready to embrace the uncertain path that lay ahead, knowing that this decision could be her escape from her nightmare.

"Are you sure you want to do this, agreeing to do this is following me to my realm of hell and there won't be any going back?" Leon said warning her.

"I agree, but I have one question," Kayla said.

"What is it?" Leon asked.

"What if I managed to tame your heart, what if I make you fall in love with me?" Kayla asked.

Leon's face darkened, and he said. "You can't."

"What if I can?" Kayla asked. She does not know where the surge of confidence came from. She knew challenging him was a stupid decision.

Leon's laughter filled the room sending shivers down her spine. He stood up and walked towards her till he was only a slight meter apart. He leaned in and said. "Very well, if you can tame my heart. You can have anything you desire"

Kayla could not help but wonder if she was making a deal with the devil himself.

"Anything I desire?" Kayla asked.

"As long as you can name it," Leon said as he inhaled deeply her intoxicating scent.

"Is there anything I desire?" Kayla asked herself inwardly.

Growing up, she has always hoped for freedom and happiness, she has always wished to smile without any burden but she knew it was just wishful thinking, but now it seems that there is hope.
