A group of disheveled students and stressed looking advisers ran through the final barrier and appeared at Gallandwell High around 10 pm. The dining hall's hours had been extended and everyone filed into the room and grabbed some food. Usually the food was primarily for humans, but this time as John pushed tray down the buffet he found bloody chunks of monster meat, poisonous herb salads, rats specially seasoned for the discerning snake tongue...

The Ground Crocodile somehow smelt the food from outside, and John had to grab a couple whole turkeys and chickens and throw them outside for him to eat before he could force his way in and get him into a ton of trouble. Technically with such a large monster he should've brought him to the Tamer's Club immediately upon arrival but he'd been too hungry to deal with that at the time.

John finally sat down to eat and stared at his plate in despair. The only human food provided this evening where traditional dishes from the three countries. All the Pizza, Hamburgers, and Baked Beans where emptied before he even got in the room. By the time he got done feeding the Ground Croc all he'd managed to grab was some Borscht and Sweet and Sour Cabbage.

Taking a sip of the Borscht, he spat it out in disgust before picking up a glass of water to try and get rid of the sour taste. "What's in this shit?" John asked.

"Beetroots." Steven said as he ate his own with a look of relish on his face, "My Great-Great-Great-Great-Great-Great-Great-Grandmother is Russian, she always makes us eat Borscht when she comes to visit."

"It's all yours then." John said, pushing his bowl over to Steven while trying to ignore the implications behind having someone so old still alive in your family. Turning back to his plate, he glared at the Sweet and Sour Cabbage. Taking a bite, he sighed in relief when he could stomach it. "It's not good... but I can eat it."

Mike laughed heartily, his face stuffed with hamburger. His tray was filled to the brim with burgers, fries, 2 whole Pizza's, and 3 different varieties of milk shakes. When John turned to glare at him he pulled his tray further away and kept eating.

Mr. Parker was joined by the 9 representatives of the major powers at a table. The group setup a barrier to make it impossible to listen in or read their lips. All you could see from the outside were shadows, and everyone watched in amusement as what looked like a vigorous debate with lots of arm waving degenerated into an all-out brawl after a couple minutes.

"Oooo" Everyone in the room gasped as a shadow was bitch slapped and flew through the air. It spun several times before slamming onto the table and sending several dishes of food flying. Standing up quickly, the shadow turned and kicked the family jewels of whoever bitch slapped it. The kick was so strong that the shadow hovered a foot off the ground for a moment before collapsing to the floor. It wasn't long after that that the barrier disappeared and Mr. Parker floated a several feet off the ground so everyone could hear him.

"Everyone who has gathered a Dragon Egg please stand up!"

Half the cafeteria stood up, their chairs screeching as they rubbed against the floor. Mr. Parker looked around the room in surprise when he saw the numbers.

"Really? That's surprising..." The Chinese Representative said in surprise.

"Alright, we're going to go by delegation. Fish Clan first..."

Every time someone came to the front of the cafeteria, the representatives would check out the Eggs and then yell out the number and type of Eggs. Fire and Earth Elemental Eggs were common in the nest so they were worth 1 point, other elemental eggs where worth 2 points, rare elements like metal or plasma were worth 3.

"Bronson of the Reptile Clan, 1 Egg, Earth Element!" A voice yelled as Bronson walked to the front of the room and delivered the egg.

Just as he was about to sit back down the Reptile Clan Representative suddenly stopped him. "Wait, your Dragon Blood was refined! Did you eat any eggs?"

"Yes, I ate 6 of them." Bronson spoke slowly before returning to his seat. The room exploded in surprise, to this point the high score had been 3, if Bronson really had eaten 6 eggs...

"They should be counted, Bronson recovered the most eggs of anyone so far!" The Reptile Representative said confidently.

"Are you kidding me?" The American scoffed in disgust.

"The point of the Trial was to bring back whole Dragon Eggs, if eating counted then none of them would've been returned to us whole." The Cat Clan spoke lazily.

"Agree!" The Chinese Representative said.

"Next!" Mr. Parker yelled.

Several minutes later, the room erupted in noise after Mr. Parker announced. "Cleo of the Cat Clan, 42 Eggs! 20 Earth, 17 Fire, 3 Water, 1 Metal, 1 Wind, total of 48 Points!"

"FUCK!" John cursed loudly as he heard the announcement, searching through his haul he sighed in disgust. "Guess I'm not getting first place after all."

"What do you mean?" Mike asked in surprise.

"I gathered 63 eggs, but then I ate 5, and sold 21. I have several worth 2 points since I only sold and ate Earth Elemental Eggs but it'll be a close call."

"Its alright." Steven said, "You can have mine back, they were yours to begin with."

John shook his head, "No, you bought them from me."

"What do you mean?" Steven asked.

John looked around before saying, "Later." Everyone at the Gallandwell High table looking at him curiously, they'd obviously heard his outburst and were trying to figure out how he'd gotten so many eggs.

Following John's vision, Steven nodded in agreement just as the hubbub was beginning to die down.

It seemed as though Cleo opened the floodgates as several more high scores poured in quickly. Baxter from the Dog Clan got 29 Eggs for a total of 33 points. Nag, the Cobra that John ran into in the trial got 48 Eggs and 58 Points. The most surprising was Samson from the Rodent Clan who somehow got 46 Eggs and 54 points. Smith from America gathered 38 Eggs for a total of 43 points, Tian Ji from China gathered 44 Eggs for a total of 51 points, and Natalia from Russia gathered 32 Eggs for 41 points.

Out of the 9 major powers, the fish were at a major disadvantage underground far from any water source so they played it safe. The Reptiles almost uniformly ate all their eggs, Bronson was one of the few with enough control to actually turn one in. After they'd turned in their eggs, the rest of the room turned to look at the Gallandwell High table as one.

Mike and Steven both went up first, turning in 6 eggs each. Chris from the Maker's Club somehow managed to get a hold of 20 eggs and 25 points. The remaining were sycophants of Quincy's, they each delivered a single egg. Finally, Quincy went to the front and turned in 37 Eggs for 41 points. As he was walking back to the table, he smirked as the smug looks of the students from the 9 powers disappeared. Before now the majority of the new students thought the Gallandwell High students would be lucky to gather 10 eggs between all of them, yet they already had 2 very respectable scores in the top 10.

Standing up with a sigh, John was the last person to turn in his eggs. He had to borrow Steven's bag to carry them, and it took him a while to unload them all. The entire room went silent as more and more eggs came out. While he didn't have the most eggs, everyone could see that he had the largest variety and it took a while for the representatives to double check everything.

Finally, Mr. Parker floated back into the air and called out. "John Caplin, Gallandwell High, 37 Eggs, 10 Earth, 14 Fire, 4 Water, 4 Air, 3 Electric, and 2 Metal for a total of 52 points!"
