1 Prologue

Back when this world was still young, and small things as jollyness and peace were more common, a magnificent city rose, in the center of a large island. The island named Weckenstone.

Weckenstone was a large and beautiful island in an unknown region of the world, all people believed. It was an island that stood for hope and freedom, and with the grassy hills and the exotic animals it inhabited everybody lived a fairly happy life.

The city in the center of Weckenstone was called Xatlatl, or the Stronghold of Hope, and it inhabited most of the people living on Weckenstone. Weckenstone was a large island, with towns and villages populating the grassy fields. While large kingdoms ruled their piece of land, overall Weckenstone was densely populated. However there was still tons of wilderness, and with that lot's of secret's still left to discover. In the city people had peace, which made it a city of interactions and talks all day. The people seemed to have an inexhaustible source of energy, This was caused by unexplained sources of magic. Manifesting in the island itself.

The streets of the city were the center of the populous of Xatlatl, where most of the local people had respect for one another, they lived in harmony. The homes of these people were mainly built from wood with strong steel bars, the streets were nicely crossed into each other, making walking distances great. The city was surrounded by high reaching walls which were accessible to soldiers and people alike. As, even though most of the people on Weckenstone lived together fairly peacefully, there were still bandits. Those who rather chose the life of absolute freedom beyond any laws. And while this was only a small portion of the population, they were still a threat, as were some of the local animals also absorbed by this magic. This was the reason soldiers still had to train and know how to fight, and why walls were a thing of protection . luckily the view from the walls was amazing, and it was said that the sunsets were some of the most beautiful things nature graced mans eye with. The soldiers wore the city colours of arcane blue and a brownish green, with the banner of the king on their backs. This banner had a black background with a giant brown tree in the middle, with arcane blue looking streams flowing to the tree. It stood as a beacon of hope for not only the people of Xatlatl, but for all inhabitants of Weckenstone.

In the city there also was a palace, built by unknown men, if not other species. Constructed long before the men that now lived there moved to the island. It was a great palace, beauty itself. It's walls were higher than you could look and the gate was made of wood from the greatest trees strengthened with bars of hardened steel. In this palace a family resided, they were the leaders of the island, and were well loved and respected by most of their people. This family rose to power because when this island was discovered by these humans, they were the first to set food on it. The man that led this 'expedition' of sorts was called Thorald Tallmight.

The island got its name because when men first set foot on it, there was a massive and magnificent stone in the middle of the land were Xatlatl now resides and behind it stood the beautiful palace. There was no vegetation, only a barren tundra. When Thorald Tallmight and his companions touched this stone a blue light sprang from it. The stone then broke into six different pieces, five of which flew to the most barren places of the land, the final and biggest piece stayed right where it stood earlier. The palace still standing behind it. Xatlatl was built around this strange building and stone, and when it was finished Thorald Tallmight named it after his mother, Xatlatl who died just before they arrived on the island. Before Tallmight and his companions set food on Weckenstone, they lived somewhere else. This previous land had a rocky surface, with massive rain storms, it had summers as warm as fire, and winters as cold as death itself. These rain storms became stronger each year, and after a long time, the population decided to move, or at least a part did. This population had a long history here which they wouldn't just abandon. However a lot knew that the end of this land was coming, and so they split up. A part took the best ships and sailed to the unknown, they now inhabit Weckenstone. Of the group that stayed, nothing is known, or has been heard of ever since they moved here.

After building Xatlatl, King Thorald ordered his men to find the other five pieces of the Weckenstone, which it was now named. They came back months later with information that the pieces were spread across the land, each standing in a place of their own. The inhabitants only later found out, that all of these had a special magic of their own. Each stone could teach a strong enough person it's magic, which in turn could then be used in battle, or in need.

And so King Thorald Tallmight brought his five most trusted companions together, and each gave them a kingdom.

-Belrand Greymane and his kin would have the stone of elementary magic, which would later be known as the kingdom of Grundlehills, The Graymanes were known as proud and honourable people, sometimes too proud for their own good. However they would follow the Tallmight's and all their allies to the edges of the world and back.

-One stone was gifted to Savos Arendium, this kingdom was called the Collegium and had the magic of illusion. Which could influence sight and sound of human beings, and could warp objects and people. The Arendium's were known as the most hard working of all. They used illusion to bolster their kingdom into a magnificent place. And they used their magic for good things, only it had become such a part of their society that is was hard to know the truth about them.

-Another stone was given to Mosul Cesdar, who named it Cundriél. It had the magic of Necromancy. The most evil of all the magics. However Thorald entrusted him to rule it fairly, and have enough strength to withstand the horrors of the dead. The Cesdars were known as hard but fair rulers. They were stubborn and wouldn't quickly listen, but they had good intentions running through their veins

-The stone of Runespear was gifted to Nirlas Dornlock, who got the gift of Alchemy. While not a battle hardened magic, they possessed the ability to brew any sort of potion they wanted, ranging from dangerous to helpful. They were considered the queerest of them all, and were most in tune with nature. Their palace was built from trees and had vegetation everywhere. They were the most kind rulers, however also seen as the most weak of all kingdoms.

-The most trusted advisor and best friend of Thorald, named Rondrick Inigo got the stone of Whiteriver, or so he named it, after he had to bury his child when they arrived on Weckenstone. He laid him on white leaves and placed him in a river. Folk say the child would eventually merge with the river and that's how the kingdom had all these white beautiful leaves. Rondrick and his kin were respected rulers, who were fair but also hard. Fighting was not in their nature unlike the Graymanes, and they didn't truly have the magic for it. Their magic was Telepathy, influencing someone's mind, or even changing the person's outlook. It was the hardest form of magic to master, however once mastered it was also the strongest. Thorald only trusted this power with his best friend. They could use it fairly to live in harmony with each other and so they did. However even though it was the strongest, it also took immense concentration, and so in a fight, it wasn't that useful. Unless you were an absolute champion in the arcane arts. That's why Whiteriver still used the most weaponry of all kingdoms. Swords, shields and in some cases still their magic. They were if not the best the most elegant and merciful fighters.

-And finally Xatlatl of course belonged to Thorald and the family of Tallmight. He ruled over all five kingdoms, however he didn't have his own magic source. He had all other five magic sources under his rule. Making his kingdom by far the strongest. It had to be ruled by the most fair and strong minded people. Great intellects and warriors alike.

However they were all still men and so when the time came for nature to take over, Thorald was granted a peaceful dead. All other five rulers came to say goodbye to their companion, friend and leader. The people wanted to bury him in a giant magnificent tombstone, however Thoralds final wish was to lay him in the normal civilian graveyard. 'Next to my people, where I belong' he would say. And so a beautiful grave was put in the middle of the graveyard. For weeks people came, thanking him for all he did. Praying for a good return to the afterlife, and each saying their own goodbyes, to their own brave leader.

Gender didn't matter in Weckenstone, a daughter could be lord just as a son. And so Thorald's daughter would become the new Tallmight, and ruler of Weckenstone.

However before she would be crowned the other five lords decided that for each new ruler of this land a test had to be laid out. Not to test their worthiness, they trusted the Tallmights enough for that. They made this so that when the new ruler came into place, he or she knew all other kingdoms and their people by heart, and could have trained in their magic. Making their power even more superior.

And so the island of Weckenstone bloomed, for a long and good time, each new ruler of each kingdom would be raised in a correct way. And each new Tallmight would have to do their test.

The land was a great society, and each life of each civilian was in joy and harmony, at least, it was for now. For no one knew what history Weckenstone had and change would be upon all inhabitants. If not now, then some other time. However change was coming.

So yes the people were happy, and the island was at peace… for now.
