11 A stormy day

Merces is being awaken by the sound of thunder.

Looking to his side he sees his childhood friend sleeping save and sound, like nothing could wake her up. Checking the clock in his room he sees that it´s 4 in the morning as the red from the morning sun is barely visible. Looking out of the window a beautiful seaside could be seen. The inn was facing the sea. Early Seadruds could be seen and heard as they fly high and low on the shores. It was truly a beautiful view to wake up to. (AN: Seadruds in Beastypedia unlocked.)

But he noticed that the Seadruds were in panic and flying towards the town and looked closer at the horizon. Looking at the distance he can´t help but laugh rigidly as his face morphed into a scared smile. Not long after spotting the cloud the city bells began to ring.

And once again was Merces day ruined as the day did not even began, and thought what greater being was tormenting him…

He quickly shacked the still sleeping girl awake and shouted.

"Milly, Mily! Wake up a giant Nebulus is on the way to the city!!! Get up now we have to go!"

"no.. just 5 more minutes… I still haven't had enough…" said Mily half sleeping and not caring.

But a second later she jumped up and looked at Merces with big eyes.

"Did you say a Nebulus is coming to the city!!" yelled Mily and got out of the bed.

Merces was stunned that she could wake up so quickly and thought that he should use this tactic to wake her up next time, but more pressing matters were on hand.

"Why are you still standing there? Get ready already." Said Mily equipping her brown and green leather armor and weapons.

Merces just shakes his head and quickly got ready to get as far away from the coast as possible.

"Hey storyteller what is the difference between a monster and a beast?" asked a young man not older than 15 while listening to his amazing stories in the pup.

The old man just took a big swig of his Brood ale and smiled. He recognizes the young adventurer as he sees him every afternoon listening to his story with his adventurer group.

"Ohoho, young boy, take this book and read it for yourself. Give it back when you are down." Said the old man.

The boy looked at the black book with a word that says 'Monsterpedia' in white ink. He then took the book, in order to let the old man continue his story…

Running quickly to the stable were Zanek and the other beast are, they let him out and ran to the city gates.

They saw a big group of people trying to rush out while the guards try to minimal the chaos and panic. As they tried to go out of the city a group of guards and adventurers ran past them.

(10 minutes earlier)

In a tall mage tower in the port city Aquanor a group of mages and high rank adventurers could be seen.

"This is really bad. We have a letter from a merchant vessel that spotted a giant Nebulus nearing Mythical tier that is heading our way." Said a middle-aged adventurer who has shoulder length red hair and bulky arms and hands that could easily crush a skull.

"*sigh* Call all the adventurers that are C-Rank or above and position them near the coast and gates in groups of 6. Enhancer should be evenly divided between the Adventures and the long rang Wizards. Oh and get a fire barrier up as soon as possible." said the head-Grand Wizard of Aquanor.

"You heard him go!" said the bulky man to 2 soldiers near him.

"Oh Grigor, you will lead the ground troops and Destrufius you will be in command of the mans stationed on the wall." Said the Grand Wizard while leaving the room.

"And what about you?" asked Destrufius, a Peak Enhancer in his early 30s looking at the leaving wizards back.

"Hmm, I will be preparing for my Mythical spell." Said the Wizard lazily while stroking his beard.

Merces standing in the crowd spotted a magician on top of the mage tower of Aquanor while looking at the incoming monster. The tower is in the center of the city and is the highest building of Aquanor

Everyone was nervous and panicking due to the nearing Nebulus.

"Activate the barrier now!" said the wizard on top of the mage tower as a red membrane covers the whole city.

As the monster almost reached the city it began to detach small black orbs that float to ground into the city streets. The black spawnlings tried to go through the barrier but are getting burned in the process.

But due to the sheer number of black orbs some broke through the fire barrier and got to the adventurers standing ready at the coast.

"FIRE!" shouted a man standing on the wall. As more and more came through the barrier. "Ts, this is getting dangerous." Mumbled Destrufius to himself and while casting buffs on his allies.

Many colorful rays, bullets, arrows, balls and what not were fired and casted at the incoming black balls.

Merces was scared and in aw of the fire power of some tamed beast with their adventurers as they fight the spawn of the Nebulus.

He saw many adventurers getting pierced by black tantecals that shoot out of the monster and absorbed mana and blood.

But as time goes on the giant monster gets closer and closer to the town and started to rain down black lightning and more spawnlings.

"Watch out!" said Mily as she fired a wind imbued arrow at a spawnling near an injured enhancer.

She was separated during the skirmishes and got left behind.

Merces and Zanek ran to her, while Mily shoot every monster near them. Zanek spit at every monster while dogging the dark tentacles from the monster trying to fend off the monsters.

Merces looked at the enhancer and noticed that she had a wounded leg. He took out band-aid and a flask to cleans and heal the wound from the reamaining mana.

"Grit your teeth, this is going to hurt." Said the boy opening the flask and dumping a white liquid on her wound as smoke came out of the wound.

"AHHH!" the enhancer tried her best to grit her teeth.

Merces quickly banded the wound.

"Than- Watch out!" said the young enhancer pushing the boy down and evading an incoming black tentacle by a hair.

"'Fire brightly go forth 'Red Arrow''" chanted Mily shooting her personal fire arrow spell at the monster.

"Get back now! More are coming this way we have to get out of here" said Mily continuing shooting arrows.

Merces wanted to respond but saw blue light from the magician on top of the mage tower.

"Ahh, you are finally close enough." Said the Grand Wizard on top of the tower.

'Connect' chanted the old man as a small magic circle formed near his ear.

"Grigori, retreat to the wall. I am going to cast my spell now."

"Understood" responded the red-haired man from the other side.

*sigh*

"I am getting to old for this." Said the wizard readying his wand.

And casted…
