The Inevitable

Lin Cian was moving at a high speed while switching between the dodge and the glide skills. He was going in a zig-zag motion believing to slow down the giant behind him. He must have scared and frustrated but all he wanted now was to delay the time till he believes Doaren would escape. He is not a selfless or relentless person. After all, he was a human too, but he has to do something like this. If not, no one shall escape from the giant spider behind him.

This kind of monster not only has speed and reflexes but also a high level of defense and intelligence. As the name suggests, the soul-reaping beasts got their name due to their sickle-like legs carrying the legacy of the soul reaper, otherwise called the grim reaper and the soul-breaking attacks from the beast are no joke. They have their body like rocks; sharp weapons may get dull after fighting with these giants. They are known for their color and their poison that can corrode the whole body of a person in no time and the ability to break the soul and spirit cognition of the victim. They harvest the soul of the victim for their meals because these beasts have a very high amount of poison in their pincers and they would act as their digestive system so the whole body will disappear in their mouth and only the soul will be visibly eaten by them.

The darker they are; the more dangerous they will be. Shit! the one chasing Lin Cian was darker and the color can be compared to the night. Realizing the danger he hopped around the bushes but he was aware that the soul-reaping beast have a high soul-tracking ability. If a person or prey is set in their mind the prey will have no place to hide unless the monster is reaped or the prey gets out of sight which is impossible most of the time. They will go crazy to reap the souls as if a grim reaper would do.

If he was just waiting for dying he would take no risks because it is pointless. Since it has already sensed him and Doaren, he can only try the second option to let Doaren escape.

Suddenly Lin Cian heard some very strange sounds. Naturally, these sounds were not audible but due to his level of unusual hearing and the seventh sense, he managed to sense something getting to him. Lin Cian activated his critical skill, the nothingness. In the next blink of an eye, a huge web-like structure gets past his body.

Even though the web is successfully dodged, his soul is injured due to the direct contact of the soul with its poison from the web. The web is very poisonous yet sticky and durable. Lin Cian celebrated each and every little victory in his heart. Whenever he dodged an attack he would enjoy and compare his level with the spider and gleefully ran again with all his might.

After a few hours of running Lin Cian got into a cave. It was huge and shabby but enough for him to delay the bastard behind him. The purple color web once again past him and sealed the entrance of the cave. His dump luck was not very bad, hence he once again used nothingness and get past the web entering the cave but injuring his soul again.

He ran faster and faster because here he have nowhere to pull out some stunts because all four sides were blocked and will slow his moments. Only the front and back sides can be maneuvered but he only had the luxury to move forward. He was well aware that he was not running for his life because he was not a fool. He was intelligent enough to surrender other than wasting all his effort and energy.

He cannot run to the countryside or anywhere when the stupid beast is actively chasing him or else it will be a huge danger for the innocent people.

After a while of running into the cave, there were many passages but Lin Cian always used the sense of presence to detect the path because if any of the passages lead to a dead-end, it will be an end for him.

As if the beast was aware of the intelligence of Lin Cian it quickened its pace suddenly to send a shock wave to Lin Cian's spine. The sudden swift of the soul-reaping beast was not expected by the little guy but somehow he managed the situation.

Lin Cian was aware that Doaren was out of sight for the beast now but he was not sure if Doaren will not come again for him. Hence he has to run as far as he can.

After a few hours of pulling stunts and distracting the spider, the time came to face his fate. He saw he was in front of three passages where each one leads to a dead end. It's impossible to dodge an actively assaulting soul reaper so he randomly chose one of the passages and ran with all his might but his face was equipped with a smile; his eyes glimmered in confidence and his face expressed the joy of strength. His heart had no fear but only guilt; he felt guilty for the woman who was entrusted to him.

He felt guilty for his brothers who had hope for him after seeing how strong their brother is. He blamed himself for getting his parents in a tough position where they will get mocked for letting their only son die. He felt sorry for William but felt happy for finding his mate. He felt sorry for June, Harry, and the other ghosts. He didn't know what to reply to Chiro Dhamini, Carbiel, and the others in the Skyfall Pavillion.

He reached the end of the passage. It was not very small instead it was a very huge space where he can actively pull out some stunts to play with the stupid spider behind him. When he realized his time he turned back and faced the spider and started to attack.

The spider spat a ball of poisonous spider silk as an attack. Not dodging nor moving from the area Lin Cian extended his arms 'fire blaze' he thought suddenly the cobweb of the spider was reduced to ashes by the flame generated by his spirit energy.

The spider got very furious and went head-on with him which will not be an intelligent move for any other beast when facing Lin Cian. As for Lin Cian, the spider already knew the capability of Lin Cian hence it took no effort to actively hunt him. In other words, its true strength is still hidden.

Lin Cian and the spider are actively involved head-on. The spider used its legs while Lin Cian used fire blaze. It was a spell he reserved for his self-defense. No matter how had he attacked it is of no use when he fought with the spider.

The sky started to roar, Lin Cian started to lose ground. Suddenly he couldn't feel his lower body. He realized his stomach was pierced by one of its legs; at the next moment, another leg pierced his shoulder. Tears dropped from his eyes in pain. His tongue actively started to scream while his voice become wet and his mouth gasped for air.

He closed his eyes seeing the spider bringing its pincer to his neck. Flashes of memories flooded his vision. A cold sensation invaded his neck, making sure his neck was bitten by the giant spider. The strong pressure around his neck started to slow down, more probably his neck was getting pierced by its pincers on both sides. Everything happened in a blink of an eye.

The more he felt frustrated, the loud the thunder is. When Lin Cian's body felt completely numb dozens of lightning struck the cave. It had no targets but it burned the whole cave. It seemed like the god of thunder went rash and reckless.

When the top of the cave got completely disappeared, thousands of lightning descended on the soul reaper. The lightning accompanied by thunder never stopped until the spider was reduced to ashes where Lin Cian's body lay lifeless.
