48 Yang Xin's task

Yang Xin stood ahead of Alan with a terrified look on her face. She was so scared that she began questioning her decision to serve him.

Alan spoke calmly, "Now, I will inform you of your true task."

Yang Xin found it impossible to calm her raging heart. She was wondering what sort of task Alan would give her.

As of now, she understood that it was impossible to lie to Alan. If she did, Alan would know. And she felt that the results won't be pretty.

"Increase the Sacred Family's quota first. You are allowed to charge the Sacred Family a high price. The margin between the Market Price and your price will be used for your monthly salary," Alan spoke calmly.

"…Would it be alright? This is the young master's family, after all. I can get a discount for the Sacred Family," Yang Xin spoke seriously.

"No need," Alan spoke coldly. He then added, "You need to understand something very crucial. You are not the Sacred Family's servant but mine."

Yang Xin understood what Alan wanted to say. Alan didn't consider himself to be a part of the Sacred Family. Maybe this was due to the internal politics of the Sacred Family.

Yang Xin didn't dare to ask Alan about the reason and nodded in affirmation. She then recalled his other point where he stated that the margin between the Market Price and her price for the Sacred Family will be used to pay for her salary. But it didn't mention anything about Alan's cut.

"Won't you take a cut, Young Master?" Yang Xin asked. She thought that gaining Demon Spirit Coins was why Alan made her sign that contract and ask her to become his servant.

"No," Alan replied coldly.

His response was met with Yang Xin's shock. Soon, her shocked expression turned into a look of confusion as she failed to understand why Alan wouldn't use her to gain more Demon Spirit Coins.

"What are your other duties in the Alchemy Association? Tell me about all of them," Alan ordered with a sharp tone.

Yang Xin frowned slightly upon hearing that order, but she soon complied as she spoke, "Financial management. Entrance Exam assessment. Managing new junior alchemists. Assigning tasks to each department. Partial diplomatic powers. Concocting pellets. And…"

Suddenly, Yang Xin paused for a short while as she recalled her recent task.

"…And becoming the contact between the Nie Li and the Alchemy Association," Yang Xin finally spoke as she didn't dare to conceal anything from Alan.

When she saw the smile on Alan's face, she understood that he was satisfied with her answer. This truly alarmed her as Alan truly seemed to possess an extraordinary ability to read her.

However, this branded a thought deep in her consciousness, 'I can never fool him. He will know.'

"So you are a contact between the Alchemy Association and Nie Li. How interesting," Alan spoke with a smirk.

"How much does Nie Li gain from the cooperation with the Alchemy Association?" Alan asked.

"Nearly 30% of the revenue from our sales goes directly to Nie Li," Yang Xin responded.

"Heh. He must have amassed quite a fortune by now," Alan spoke with a smirk.

"…This gives me an idea about your next task," Alan spoke. He quickly added, "Gain his trust. This should be easy if you continue to assist his comrades and their families. In fact, provide them extra protection in the upcoming days."

"…When?" Yang Xin had a bad feeling about it. It seemed that Alan was planning to do something to Nie Li's group.

"You will know soon," Alan responded with a smirk.

Yang Xin could only nod helplessly as she heard those words.

She was wondering whether there was a between Alan and Nie Li. Soon, Yang Xin recalled her conversation with Nie Li, which hinted that he was very hostile to the Sacred Family.

"I understand. I will be ready," Yang Xin spoke seriously.

Alan nodded. He was satisfied with her response.

"Alright, you can leave now," Alan spoke as he laid on his bed.

"…Yes, young master," Yang Xin spoke as she left his room quickly. She felt relieved after leaving Alan's room.

In Alan's room, Yang Xin felt as though all her secrets were laid bare before Alan.

"…I need to convince the President to renegotiate his deal with the Sacred Family. We also need to cut the elixirs and pellets of the other Noble Families to give the Sacred Family equal quota as that of the Snow Wind Family," Yang Xin muttered underneath her breath while leaving the mansion.

As she was on her way outside of the Sacred Family's mansion, she caught the attention of someone specific. This individual was none other than the eldest young master of the Sacred Family, Shen Fei.

Shen Fei was together with his fellow comrades. Soon, one of his comrades caught sight of Yang Xin and informed him about it.

Shen Fei's eyes flashed with insatiable greed and lust as he gazed at Yang Xin. He naturally recognized her.

This woman was the director in the Alchemy Association. However, he failed to understand what she was doing here in the Sacred Family's mansion.

He immediately decided to approach her and find out.

"…What are you doing here, Miss Yang Xin?" Shen Fei asked with a feral smile on his face. His eyes were focused on those large breasts that were concealed behind Yang Xin's blue robe.

Unfortunately, Yang Xin wasn't like Shen Xiu and wore a conservative robe to come to the Sacred Family. However, this didn't prevent Shen Fei's imagination from running wild.

Yang Xin stopped while gazing at Shen Fei. She didn't understand what answer she should give. Would Alan want her to use his name to answer someone like Shen Fei?

Meanwhile, Shen Fei's pupils narrowed as he received no answer from Yang Xin

"I don't think giving me a silent treatment would be a good idea. You are in the Sacred Family's territory without any appointment, right?"

Yang Xin remained silent upon hearing those words.

Her silence seemed to boost Shen Fei's confidence as he spoke boldly, "Speak! Why are you here?! Otherwise, for the crime of infiltrating the Sacred Family's territory, I will be forced to act and imprison you!"

Shen Fei's shout gathered multiple guards of the Sacred Family. There was no way for Yang Xin to leave without answering Shen Fei's question.

In fact, Shen Fei hoped that she continued to remain quiet so that he could act against her.

Yang Xin was extremely furious as she noticed that blatant lustful look in Shen Fei's eyes. She knew that remaining quiet wouldn't bode well for her.

At this moment, a shout resounded in the courtyard that startled everyone, "She was here to meet me. Do you have any issue, Nephew Fei?"

The one who spoke those words was none other than the arrogant Shen Xiu.
