Chapter 14 – Drawbacks of Reincarnation

The soul crystal appeared to be dark, with just a few bright spots

"I suddenly feel relieved, Nie Li's soul force is a lot weaker than mine!" Lu Piao blinked his eyes as he laughed. Du Ze gave Lu Piao a hard look.

Nie Li was shell shocked, he had no idea what to make of this. How can his attribute change from earth to attributeless, the weakest soul attribute. In all his time in the previous life, he had never heard of an incident such as this.

Ji Ren, for a moment didn't know what to do, he thought that the path was clear just start training and become stronger to defeat the sage emperor. He knew of course the journey to defeat him wouldn't be easy, but he didn't expect a problem of this kind!

Nie Li, looking at the rest of his friends, then spoke up " Hey guys, why don't you go outside and start training with your cultivation technique. I will finish with Ji Ren and be right with you."

All of them were curious on what cultivation technique Ji Ren and Nie Li are going to practice but the eagerness to start using their own techniques was too overwhelming and so without objection they quickly left.

Ji Ren asked right after they left "Nie Li, the only reason that i can guess is that it must have something to do with our rebirth"

Nie Li was thinking deeply, the only thing linked to their reincarnation is the Temporal Demon Spirit book, he'd already found that out but what he didn't know was to what extent have they both been affected.

"Ren, inject your soul force into your crystal, let see what happens!"

Ji Ren nodded his head and started the process.

After a moment, the crystal grew bright, Ji Ren was still focusing while Nie Li was concentrating on the crystal. After a minute or so, Ji Ren still wasn't done and the crystal grew brighter and brighter….

Suddenly cracks started appearing on the crystal, "Ren stop it's going to--" . He was too late.

KRSST! WHOOM!

The crystal exploded and both Ji Ren and Nie Li flew backward, and crashed into the bookshelf. "Ugh…my back,. …shit i should have stopped it earlier, why didn't i see it faster " Nie Li mumbled to himself. With some effort he picked himself off the bookshelf and saw that Ji Ren was on the ground. Nie Li rushed to him but Ji Ren got up at the same moment. Nie Li asked " Ren you okay?" Ji Ren rubbed his head and said " I'm fine. Sorry Li, I don't know what happened…"

"Not a problem, but you need to tell me what exactly went through your mind". " I felt as if i had two spheres of soul force around me and i had to merge them together, but they wouldn't… they acted like the poles of the magnet, i tried to merge them by force and well… you know what happened next." Ji Ren explained. Nie Li considered all the possibilities of how a soul crystal can explode, only two explanations came to his mind, if Ji Ren had a soul force of over 500, the crystal would not able to handle it or if more than one person injected soul force at the same time into one crystal.

Ji Ren cannot have a soul force of over 500 as he did not even practice anything yet, and the second possiblity can be disregarded.

Then only one reason came to his mind…..

Nie Li took 2 more soul crystals from his bag, he bought more crystals than what they needed because he always likes getting resources in excess. In this case, it well supported him.

"Try using both crystals at the same time" Nie Li ordered. Ji Ren stared at Nie Li as if he was crazy. "Just do it" Ji Ren didn't get it but he took both crystals and started injecting soul force into both of them. He imagined the two spheres of soul flowing into each crystal. After a few seconds the crystals started glowing and Ji Ren opened his eyes and checked out his result. Nie Li too was observing the crystal.

"So it seems that the Temporal Demon Spirit book cut your soul realm in half and created two soul realms in you but it seems that like mine both your soul realms are attributeless with a disordered soul realm," Nie Li smiled bitterly. "All soul realms are very strong, but if I were to say which kind of soul realm was the weakest, it would be the non-attributed soul realm. This is because it doesn't have any characteristic at all and the soul realm form is not condensed."

Ji Ren suddenly said "look at this one of my soul realm is indigo in colour while the other one is red!"

Nie Li was again petrified, he had no knowledge of anything like this occuring. Ji Ren looked at him, he knew that Nie Li always liked to know about everything and hated having limited information, still he had to stay focused. Ji Ren spoke again "Hey, don't dwell on the things we don't know yet, so we are attributeless, fine there is some cultivation techniques that we can still do right?"

Nie Li submerged deep into his thoughts. If there were any cultivation techniques suitable for attributeless soul realms, then there would only be three options: Heavenly God cultivation technique, War God cultivation technique, and Void God cultivation technique. Among these the Heavenly God technique was the most profound, the War God technique was the most overbearing, and the Void God technique was the most secretive. With an attributeless soul realm, practising any kind of cultivation technique will be much slower than others.

With Ji Ren having two soul realms he can practice two cultivation techniques at the same time. The Heavenly God technique is the most suitable for himself as it is very versatile and he can support his friends through it. With this technique it will allow him to control upto seven demon spirits with different attributes.

Ji Ren can practice both the War God cultivation technique and the Void God cultivation technique. The War God technique, actually requiring two other cultivation techniques which can be chosen by Ji Ren to complete it and support it, It will increase his physical strength to a whole new level till the legend rank after that it becomes very difficult to practice it. The Void God cultivation technique is more mysterious even Nie Li doesn't know all of it's abilities, it is actually said that this technique was given to humans by the God of Chaos…

Nie Li doesn't have any choice but to give this technique to Ji Ren as he himself is not be compatible with it as he has only the red soul realm, plus it is the only other technique for the attributeless. He still was hesitant for quite awhile. Although their training speed wouldn't be fast, much slower compared to Du Ze's, Lu Piao's and the trio's, once training and cultivation is successfully completed, then their techniques would be unrivalled!

Ji Ren saw the look in Nie Li's eyes and knew that he had found the perfect technique for them. Nie Li told him about the techniques and their methods of training and chants. They both immediately left the room to join their friends to start training. In the future they may need the support of large amount of elixirs, but for now they would only need to practice the basic fundamentals.

Soon the seven people had their eight soul realms rapidly rotating, surging up and expanding. Whether it's Du Ze, Lu Piao, or the 3 commoner students, their soul force begin to significantly enhance.

The process of enhancing is simply astonishingly fast. After all, the cultivation technique given to them by Nie Li are all earth-shatteringly powerful techniques, that once started, the speed of practicing with it compared to normal cultivation techniques are ten or even more than hundred times faster.

Nie Li was practicing the Heavenly God technique, currently he doesn't seek fast cultivating, but preferred steadily laying the his foundation one step at a time. His soul realm was like the sea surging, constantly changing it's shape. Portions of soul force ebbing and flowing, Nie Li felt that his soul force already had been significantly strengthen.

Ji Ren was currently practicing the War God technique, he felt that the Void God should be practiced at night after listening to Nie Li's chants, the War God was rapidly increasing his physical strength but his soul force grew slowly.

The first stage of soul force practice is to reach the level of heart and soul as one. With the continuous enhancing of soul force, the soul realm would began to surge over and over, gradually releasing cyan glow.

The group remained in the library devoting themselves into practice.

One day, two days… Over time, Ji Ren's first red soul realm rose from 12 to over 60, while the indigo soul realm only increased very slightly from 12 to 15 and finally Nie Li's soul force grew from 5 to 30

This speed was simply amazing. If Shen Xiu were to know of the group's cultivation speed reaching such frightening speed, what kind thoughts would she have.

Nie Li's speed, however, is considered slow even when compared to Ji Ren who was though developing on a steady rate, he had to practice both soul realms too. Du Ze's, Lu Piao's, and the trio's cultivation speeds were much faster. Especially Du Ze, perhaps it wouldn't be long until he reach the 1-star bronze rank. One can only imagine, after finishing a stage of their cultivation, how far would their soul force have risen?

For the last couple of days, the Back row seats were empty, no one knows where have they gone.

"Soon it'll be the 3rd night, Ji Ren wouldn't have forgotten would he?" Xiao Ning'er looked forward for the arrival of night in her heart. Thinking of the things that happened on that day, the quietly sitting down Xiao Ning'er slightly blushed. Her face had a gentle pure smile, beautiful and attractive, causing the surrounding boys to become dumbfounded.

Ye Ziyun is very puzzled inside her heart. Recently Xiao Ning'er often was blankly lost in thought, causing her to have some curiosity over it. It surely has something to do with Nie Li, with the way he was grinning that day, she decided to confront him later.

As Shen Xiu is teaching in the class, her gaze swept past the 7 empty seats, sneering in her heart. "Nie Li's probably bitterly practising right? Even so, so what? Nie Li thought that if he were to bitterly practice, he would be able to rise his soul force from 5 to 100 in just two months frame of time? This is absolutely impossible!"

If Nie Li had green soul realm or above, then he might have the chance to accomplish it. But Nie Li has a red soul realm! In her view, Nie Li is bound to lose! Nie Li actually dared to contradict her in class publicly, this would be the price! She can only imagine, after being expelled how pitiful Nie Li's situation would be!

Shen Xiu revealed a faint sneer on her face as she continued to tirelessly lecturing "Red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, azure, and indigo are the seven different soul realms, with red as the lowest grade. Within the hundreds years of Glory City history, only a few managed to practice up to silver rank demon spiritist level. Unless having some bizarre circumstances, red soul realms have a limit for the soul force it can contain, which is 600, the higher it goes, the harder it is!"

Hearing Shen Xiu's words, the crowd of commoner students below the stage revealed disappointed expressions on their face. Soul force could only reach a maximum of 600, which means that unless one to have good fortune , the maximum they can reach is just the 5-star bronze rank. Those students with red soul realm couldn't help to complain at the injustice, why do they only have red soul realm.

"There are some things that are decided by heavens upon birth, we have to succumb to our fate. Some people would be sheltered upon birth, and some would be an inferior commoner upon birth!" Shen Xiu laughed a cry.

Ye Ziyun and Xiao Ning'er frowned their brows in disgust upon hearing Shen Xiu's words. They didn't like Shen Xiu since the beginning, and the words Shen Xiu spoke were too much. With Glory City under the threats of demon beast, Shen Xiu still continued to try and stir up conflicts between commoners and nobles, simply disregarding the situation.

Listening Shen Xiu's words, those commoner students tightly clenched their fist, blood almost oozed out from their palms. Although they were very angry about what Shen Xiu said, but most of them still endured it. Not everyone had the courage to contradict the teacher with withdrawing from school as a bet.They didn't dare to do it, and because of that, they had deep admiration for Nie Li in their heart.

What Nie Li didn't know that the constant mocking of the commoner students by Shen Xiu actually became the spiritual motivation for the commoner students. Almost every single commoner student wished Nie Li to win, chasing this vicious Shen Xiu away. The recent action of Nie Li won the hearts of these commoner students.

As time went on, the incident of Nie Li giving sacred family a hard slap in their face and his bet with Shen Xiu soon became well known, almost everyone throughout Holy Orchid Institute were discussing about this matter.

"He actually said that he'll raise his soul force from 5 to 100 in two months! He simply doesn't know his place!" "Yeah, even a cyan soul realm super genius might not be able to accomplish it!"

"I hope Nie Li would win, I really hate that mean woman." "Me too, although his chances of winning is very slim." 70% of the students in Holy Orchid Institute are commoners. Nie Li offended Shen Xiu and the Sacred family for standing up for them causing them to support Nie Li in their heart.

A lot of people didn't like the Sacred family, some of the noble children still disapprove of Nie Li. Even if Sacred family was in the wrong, Sacred family are still one of the 3 major family in Glory City. Nie Li's action is offending his superiors, it showed contempt for authority! They even look at Nie Li as the scum within nobles.

"Some people just like to stand together with commoners, what can you do about it?" they were ridiculing Nie Li. Late in the afternoon.

Majority of the students in Holy Orchid Institute all went to eat. The library was exceedingly quiet, Nie Li, Ji Ren and the group of people ate together and went back to the library to continue their practice.

"Nie Li, my soul force is already 89! With the current speed, I would be able to breakthrough into 1-star bronze rank in a week!" Du Ze whispered, his voice had unquenchable excitement in it. This speed of cultivation is impossible to imagine!

"Not bad" Nie Li chuckled, this speed is within Nie Li's expectation.

Not just Du Ze, Lu Piao and the others were also in ecstasy and excitement, their soul force also made great progress. With the current speed, even for them to reach 1-star bronze rank in two months would be possible.

Ji Ren too was doing well, though he had to more work than the rest of them, still double the work comes double the result.

"We need to get some elixirs, with elixirs only then will our cultivation speed be faster!" Nie Li said.

Ji Ren also got up, " I too must attend to somethings tonight" and said in a quieter voice so that only Nie Li could hear "Meet me by our resting spot in the training grounds at midnight" Ji Ren then grabbed a soul crystal from Nie Li's bag " I'm taking this too" he then ran off, "hey wai--" he was already gone. Nie Li rubbed his head and walked off pondering what was going to happen at midnight.

Tonight, Ji Ren and Xiao Ning'er had promised to meet! Ji Ren had vowed to help Xiao Ning'er get rid her of her illness, but he knew that he cannot always protect her and so decided to help her get stronger so that she defend herself. He did not want to get Nie Li involved, as he would just start to tease him, but he had no choice as there was no better expert in cultivation techniques than Nie Li.
