1 Fragment 1: Home

?:,, It was a long time ago, when the Riversoul Orphanage was founded in a neutral territory, in between the domains of different species. It was built as a sign of the current harmony.

But the human race wasn't satisfied. They claimed more and more territory, whilst both making enemies and losing allies. Of course the leaders of the human empire noticed, however, they didn't try to seek for forgiveness. They let their hatred flow onto the symbol and sanctuary of all species."

[Muttering in the Background]

?:,, Yes, indeed Cecilia. It's this orphanage. Our reputation within the human domain fell deeply. Soon we were seen as a plague, something unworthy to exist near a human village. But even then, we underestimated the cruelty we were going to be struck with. After all, we did still have volunteers coming from the Winterslack-Village, which is a village not far from here. Well, pure distance that is. They couldn't be more distant in terms of heart. They proved this more than ever, on the day you two were born."

??:,,We never heard about our birth, who our parents were or who brought us here…"

?:,, Ryu… You still can't just sit and listen,huh? Well, i suppose your old enough to learn about it. We once had a friendly lady called Luna working here occasionally. She visited us rather often, however she didn't tell anyone about it. One day, her husband got suspicious and followed her. He saw her working here, helping us. It seems he told it around at Winterslack, because as soon as Luna arrived home, she was insulted. It soon stepped up to them throwing fruits and later stones. To top it off, she was chased out of her own home. From her own husband, with a pitchfork, soon followed by other male villagers. She ran and ran but she was exhausted and hurt. We don't know exactly where, but she tripped over two eggs. As she was standing up, she heard childrens screams coming out of them. Even though she knew it would seal her fate, she carried them to the nearest river. You know, the river we always wash our clothes in. And then she went and told us, went back to hide you better and then got found by the villagers. She was beheaded right on the spot her husband had killed her first love. Well, we found that out later. Then we find to find the eggs but instead we found two young children."

Cecilia:,,Was that us?"

?:,, Yes. It was, but shouldn't you be more surprised about that?"

Ryu:,, Does it make a difference? We are treated well by everyone we know, they don't seem to care."

?:,, Well said. It doesn't. For us and most other species. I would avoid telling humans about it. You can never know what those morons are up to.

Ryu:*Angrily*,, Like killing your own wife, just because she was helping the poor?!"

?:,, Keep thinking and talking out of heart Ryu. But you know, there is those people. Those who think their reputation is more important, than everything.

??:,, You just gave hundreds of egocentric idiots a valid explanation for everything they do."

[Elderly loud laugh]

??:,, You are right for sure, but i'm here for something else. Ryu and Cecilia have to go to bed. The trip tomorrow will be a long and hard one." *Both agree*

[The next morning]

Cecilia:,,Ryu. Ryu?! RYU!! Wake up we have to go!"

Ryu:,, One hour please…"

C:,, Elder! Ryu doesn't want to wake up!"

Elder:,, What is he doing dozing off like that! Just because you two are talented doesn't mean you can just slack off all day!"

C:,, I know but Ryu…"

E:,,Where is that rascal? He doesn't seem to be in bed…"

C:,, I… I swear he was here just a second ago!"

E: ,,Oh, Cynthia! Do you know where Ryu is?"

Cynthia:,, He went to the shed and trains with the others,why?"

E:,, He is supposed to go on the trip today!"

Cy:,, I don't think it will take long. He might be training with older boys, but"

E:,, But he is going to beat them in no time anyway, we know."*knowing laugh*

Cy:,, I think he wants to relieve some stress, i would let him be for the moment"

E:,, Yes, but as he is one of the two big hopes the Riversoul-Orphanage has, he is a little careless…"

Cy:,, Let the other one handle that then." *winks at Cecilia*

E:,, You know, one of you might only be a hope, but with you two together you are a future. And a bright one at that!"

C:,, S-Sure. I'll look after him. If i don't he might hurt himself or others"

Cy:,, Are you sure that this is the only reason?" *Winks again*

[One hour later in the Woods]

C:,,Ryu, get down from there! That's dangerous!

R:,, I'm fine, I'll just get that apple and then -

[Ryu falls off and faints]

C:,,RYU!"

[As Cecilia starts to cry a warm light surrounds them. Flowers grow, Ryu's wound closes, he does not awaken]

Cecilia:,, RYU! Wake up! I won't forgive you if you don't!"

[Cecilia faints too]
