They didn't catch on, bummer. The human blew a raspberry and glanced away for a few moments before it seemed that Sans yelled at Paps for wanting to join in. Blinking a few times, the child looked to the Skeleton and stared for a few seconds. He had a flashback? Didn't he? He wasn't this jumpy except for when he cringed and winced from before when he remembered their battles. There was one battle after the one he remembered. In which the human knocked Sans unconscious and continued on and reset. They said nothing however as it seemed the two brothers were having a misunderstanding of each others feelings. The larger skeleton feeling as if their older smaller brother was losing faith in him, while the smaller one just didn't want to relive the horror of losing his brother.
The sectional armor dissipated from Frisk's body and they simply stared at the taller brother who didn't like having been told no about joining the Spar. Next time would probably be better, though they'd probably not think that Sans would ever be ready to allow Papyrus near the child in a fight, practice or otherwise.
When the fish lead the human and told them to follow, they moved quickly to get close enough to Undyne, "So... Uh.... Undyne, right? There's a hole in the ruins wide enough for any monster to climb out of. All that's needed is an elevated slope, why go through such lengths to open a barrier that only needs one living soul to turn it off?" The human asked and arched a brow slightly, looking up at the leader of the Royal Guard. What the human had just said, would probably put Asgore in bad light, considering he had each human that fell down killed instead of using them to open the barrier.
The child had followed Undyne out of the bedroom, leaving the two brothers alone for awhile to discuss with one another on the recent event that just took place.
However, Undyne peaked over her shoulder at the child who was giving a suggestion of escaping through the ruins. "What are you rambling about?" the slim muscular woman turned to face the child. She then knelt down to the child's height with her single eye, the left being covered by her bang and sealed with an eye patch. After the child had finished, Undyne narrowed her eyes at the child as silence fell upon the two. The child knew a little more than she thought. If Frisk had thought his question over, they should realize they were only going to get them self in trouble. And the two were now alone, so Sans could not intervene since he was blocked off by Papyrus who wanted to talk.
"And I wonder who told you anything about the barrier needing a soul..as you added 'a living soul'." she instigated. "Papyrus wouldn't know...so only Sans would probably tell you, but that's a little out of character for even him." she was contemplating out loud for the child to listen. She then sneered, "The king is a merciless ruler..Strong, brave, and loyal to his monsters. Let me tell you a story...The king lost three people very dear to him years ago. The heir to his kingdom was brutally murdered by humans, the love of his life disappeared into hiding, and lastly, they're adopted child who fell into a terrible illness." Undyne had a fire in her eyes. From that little bit of information, if the child didnt catch on to why the king was killing children, then she would bluntly state it. "He is in mourning.." her voice softened. Slowly drifting her eyes away as she stood up. She understood the king was in pain, not stupid. six times over the past few years, children found themselves in the underground. Undyne knew perfectly where the children were entering from, but pursuing the opening the child mentioned was folly. "Heh! Let me guess, you don't know much about your own soul, do you? the fish woman was beginning to get cocky. "Even if there is an opening where you came in from..nothing can exit the underground without a strong soul."
Meaning, the child was able to fall in with ease and maybe even be able to walk out through the main barrier without having to break it because of their soul. Chara made their appearance, crossing their arms over their chest as they chuckled. "I'm a little stunned that you didnt know that Frisk. Don't you think mother would have escaped by now if that was the case?" Chara can tell that Toriel was living in the ruins for quite a long time. His reasons for killing innocent children was the reason Toriel could not stand the sight of Asgore. His way of grieving was wrong, but he had loyal subjects to follow behind him. Out of the many monsters who followed him, only Undyne and Sans would know the truth; only one soul was needed. Once they obtained that one soul, what occurred after that is only something Asgore could explain.
Undyne looked to the child and cackled. Throwing her hand on top of the child's head and ruffling their hair. "Anyways...let's get this over with. I'm sure Sans and Paps will meet us outside." the undying knight ordered. Just as she came down the staircase.
"Took you long enough! he flower growled at the human. then gave an antsy glare towards Undyne. "You too! I been watching this god forsaken drama bot for FAR too long! Pick me up!"
"Oh pipe down, dandelion! We're leaving anyways." she stated and picked up the flower by the pot and walked towards the door. While passing the child by, she handed the potted flower to Frisk and lead the way to the front door. "Hmm...I suppose no one would catch on that you're a human as long as you keep that...that ridiculous thing on.." she was humored by their choice of clothing, but it would come in handy out in public.
So the barrier surrounded the entire underground? That sounded rather... Practical, though they never seen any barrier around the area of which they came in through. They've seen the barrier themselves, it was nothing like what they had gone through. There was nothing there blocking them from going or out except for a simple elevation problem. Letting out a sigh the child would look away from the Fish as they continued to talk about their King. Strong, brave and loyal. There was no trait in there listed to have the monster king be smart, unlike Toriel whom brought the human in and cared for them. She tried to stop the humans from getting themselves killed, but that didn't work. It was obvious that the king was wrong and only his subjects could fix that and it wasn't enough for the King with his wife having run away?
The king was in mourning, like an violent idiot or so the human assumed. From what they remembered that King tried to avoid fighting them when they had a high enough LV, even thought they were one of his own monsters. That was rather sad, especially when Flowey destroyed Asgore's soul. The human winced slightly as they remembered the way the King's soul was practically destroyed from behind.
"A person shouldn't place judgement on a group, but only the individual," The human muttered as they thought about how the humans had violated and beaten Asriel to death on the surface until they came down and died on a bed of lowers which Alphys ended up resurrecting on accident. Their eyes then narrowed on Undyne as they had said no one could exit without a strong soul, but they didn't comment.
Their eyes drifted over towards Chara as they seemed to be disappointed and even laughed at the human for not kniwn about the whole entering and exiting the area through the ruins and only let out a sigh. "Mmmm..." The human groaned when Chara had spoken, then without thinking they replied: "Even if mother could escape through the ruins, she wouldn't. Not without everyone else," It would have looked as if the human were talking to themselves, though of course Flowey would know whom they were talking to. Undyne, probably not. Though considering where the human came from and where none of the other monsters had looked for the Queen, she could probably narrow it down.
As soon as the fish ruffled their hair the human simply allowed things to continue as they were, though hearing a strange language echo through their mind. Who was that? The symbols didn't make any sense.. Shrugging it off the human would look towards the Flower which was placed in their hands as they made their way outside. Chuckling a bit at the fishes humor at what the human was wearing. Probably made a somewhat good disguise? Doubtful it would work on the king though.
Undyne raised a brow as the child spoke out about their mother out of no where. Of course, she was lost, but Flowey lowered his head, looking from left to right in search for his dear sibling, Chara. Chara was standing right beside Frisk as the fallen child smacked their lips together towards Frisk's reply. Were they so caught up to believe that mother didnt have the slightest urge to leave everyone? After all, everyone had a part in killing the six children that fell except mother.
As Frisk grabbed Flowey, Chara took a step back as they didnt want to get too close to the flower. They turned their head and followed after Frisk as they were not outside.
It was actrually very bright, as if the sun was peaking past the clouds, but they were underground still. It was no longer a snowy blizzard, but it was rather chilly if one didnt move enough. Undyne loved the gold temperature. The frosty cold air inhaled by her gils and exhaled out of her mouth with a loud and relieving sigh.
"HAH! Now this is where we shall start. Now then.." she turned the human, summoning her spear in one had as she showed the child her choice of weaponry. "Well? What do you choose, punk?" she asked. Of course, she has fought a child in the past. their choice of weapon was a gun..and they were able to get a clean shot at her left eye. Completely catching her off guard as she attempted to confront the child with words...but when that didnt work, she retaliated and fought. the thought of it was terrible. It was just a kid after all, but it was reckless. Dusting the smaller monsters without hesitation.
Hearing as Undyne said that they should start as they had exited the house and the outside was nice and crispy cold. The human could see their own breath and grinned a bit, almost tempted to try and draw in their own breath; though that'd be highly unlikely to work. The human would then place the potted flower on the ground along the exterior wall of the house away from the door so they didn't get hit with it and they'd be relatively out of the way but could still watch.
Being asked what they would use as a weapon though, the human simply looked towards the Fish and smiled at them. Walking in front of them, but away by at least ten paces. The human would reply, "I choose... Determination," The human let their arms out from their sides as they drew a stick from the ground.
However as their determination flared, they felt something odd, something cold and unusual. Their eyes gazed over the snow covered area around them, what was it? The human seemed distracted now.
