5 Chapter Five

Without a moment's hesitation I release the body from my interspatial ring and it lands on the ground with a thud. I pull out my inscription equipment including the blood of a black gold rank demon beast. Quickly scribbling and covering every inch of the body's skin with intricate patterns which glowed with a powerful aura. Though disgusted Ye Yan couldn't help but be intrigued and impressed by the level of inscription patterns used.

"In order to finish the inscriptions I need you to pour a small amount of soul force into this crystal." I said pulling out a soul crystal.

He gave me a strange look but obliged and stretched his hand out as if to grip the crystal but instead inserted a finger inside it. Green spots began floating around inside it and slowly took the form of a snake-like body but with wings protruding from its back. This is the Blizzard Dragon, a somewhat rare and powerful form that can sometimes be found in the Snow Wind Family, as well as their typical Snow Wind attribute. With this knowledge I'm able to finish the inscriptions ending with a single dot.

After placing this dot a large amount of energy poured out from the body which felt both deadly and inviting. We needed to strike while the iron was hot so I quickly drew a simple inscription on my hand and grabbed Ye Yans disembodied soul. Before he could utter a note of complaint I forced the soul into the body and began helping him circle through the body. Because the body has no soul realm the inscription patterns need to be used as a catalyst. Meaning he will be incredibly vulnerable while the soul merges with its new body.

But once successfully merged the inscription pattern will disappear and the host body will slowly change to match the appearance of the soul. Thankfully because I chose an expert in their early twenties Ye Yan will also become much younger. Though the drawback to this technique is that those who are brought back this way will experience a burning sensation in their soul realm on a nearly constant basis. After a short while the merging appeared to be a success as Ye Yan opened his new eyes for the first time.

He looked around for a moment before feeling his new body and waddled over to a pool of water like a toddler to see his reflection. A smile crept across his face as he felt every nook and cranny on his new body. I also wanted to do the same thing when I was reborn but I didn't want to look like a mad man doing it. Eventually Ye Yan recomposed himself and even with his new body puffed out his chest and went to stroke his beard. It's good to see that even in his new body he could still maintain his massive ego in front of others.

"Everything feel alright to you?" I ask, half worried something might go wrong.

"No, everything appears to be fine but this body's strength is kind of lackluster for someone of my caliber."

I sigh and shake my head, I can only hope that he will eventually lose the high and mighty attitude he has. Perhaps he will realise how insignificant he truly is once we both reach the draconic ruins realm.

"Your strength should slowly return to you in about a year."

He appeared to be shocked by this news; he most likely figured it would take decades of his true strength to return. In truth he could have had his strength back almost immediately if I had found a body that was more compatible. Someone from the Snow Wind Family would have been perfect for his resurrection and he would have had his strength returned within a few days. But there was no use crying over spilled milk, what's done is done.

"Before we leave I have something I need you to do." Ye Yan said with a note of respect.

"At the very center of this realm is a powerful artifact. It was once wielded by one of the founders of Glory City, Sheng Mu."

He led the way as he continued to talk and explain the situation with the sword.

"He practiced a lightning attribute cultivation technique known as the nine thousand revolving clouds technique."

"As a result of this overbearing approach he died at a young age but was able to achieve extraordinary results because of it."

"The weapon he left behind provided a large portion of his strength and could be wielded by no one but himself.

"Even I dared not touch it."

After his lengthy explanation we had managed to walk the complete distance and were standing in front of the bridge leading to the sword. Lightning continuously struck the sword and powerful beastly auras seeped out from the blade.

"You may be able to wield this sword without being harmed because I can sense a strength greater than legend rank within you."

While he was right wielding this sword was not a difficult task for me I had no interest in it. I pulled out my current sword which at this point had reached a grade 4 artifact simply from all the slaughter I had committed so far. If I put all my strength into my swings I could most likely destroy the sword leaving the heavenly sacred border useless. But instead of doing that I pulled out my inscription equipment yet again and began placing them down around the sword. These inscriptions would cripple anyone who has reached the legend realm and would outright kill those in black gold rank or lower.

My knowledge about inscription patterns may not be as advanced as Nie Li but I was confident in saying this will deter him for at least a year. He would need at least black gold strength in order to approach the pattern to deactivate it. I had other plans for it, Ye Yan would make the perfect candidate for it if given the correct cultivation technique. Awkwardly I smile at him after placing the killing array down and cup my hands while bowing slightly.

"While I could destroy or even wield the sword, I have another plan for it."

"Do you happen to know the nine thousand revolving clouds technique?"

He rummaged up his sleeves for a second but I don't know what he expects to find considering his new body. But a moment later out pops a book with the writing 'nine thousand revolving clouds technique' in his hand. I look at him utterly confused since he had no way of acquiring an item since technically he isn't even an hour old yet.

"Where did-"

"You're not the only person with talent."

In my former life I was pretty good at being able to read entire books quickly which seemed to transfer over to this body. Within an hour I read the whole book and understood how the technique worked down to every detail. I take out a simple pen and begin making minor edits to the book that make the technique less overbearing on its user. Though it wouldn't match his attribute it shouldn't be an issue if he learns how to cultivate the law of lightning.

"There you go, that should do it, from now on you should cultivate this technique, I've made some modifications to it so you won't experience any damage to your soul realm while wielding the Thunder Gods Meteorite Sword."

"Who do you think your lost friend would prefer to wield the sword? Me or you."

He cupped his hands and bowed while a single tear welled up in his eye making me realise that he wasn't as egotistical of a man as I thought. On the contrary he knew how to show gratitude and modesty but because he was with Nie Li who made him feel small at every turn he never got to show that side of himself.

"You will have to wait for your body and soul to finish merging before you can practice it though."

"Then why the inscriptions?" He asked, looking at the sword.

"There is a certain person in Glory City who must not obtain the sword." I furrowed my brow and lowered my tone to show him the seriousness of the situation.

Ye Yan nodded in acknowledgement and followed me as I made my exit through the tall gates at the realms entrance. Upon leaving the heavenly sacred border we are confronted by 2 black gold rank experts and a dozen gold ranks. One of the black golds, I recognized as the vice principal of the school but the other was a mystery but he was obviously at the peak of the realm, almost reaching legend rank. I assumed this must be the principal and cupped my hands in a deep bow, Ye Yan understanding bowed as well.

"I understand my wrong doings! We became interested in the heavenly sacred border upon hearing people speak of it and with my family being so weakened I had to experience the realm for myself."

Noticing none of them get angry or hurl insults at me I continued.

"This is Long Fei, my family's last remaining young genius, he has benefited greatly from this trip."

The oldest of the group who I assumed to be the principal steps forward and with a grim look on his face patted me on the back. A large smile appeared on his face showing great happiness that was rare for a character in this world.

"It's no big deal, I was just curious who was brazen enough to break into one of Glory Cities sacred treasures."

All of the experts surrounding him looked to be just as shocked as I am with the looks on their faces. The only person who didn't seem to be at all surprised is the vice principal who is as calm as can be. They led us down from the steps and into an open courtyard where some students were hanging out and chatting amongst themselves. Of the students I noticed Nie Li sneaking off with Lu Piao and Du Ze to the training grounds most likely. This made me slightly annoyed even though I knew too much time had passed while I was in the realm.

"Next time you wish to go through the gates please inform either myself or Ye Sheng before doing so." He said with a smile on his face and waved goodbye to us.

With what time I had left before Nie Li and his crew would begin becoming pillars of the city, I took Ye Yan and ran to the alchemy association. Upon entering the association's main building the receptionist greeted us with a smile.

"May I ask what you two masters would like?"

"I would like a meeting with the director please." I said rather bluntly but with a smile.

"May I inquire as to why?"

"I have some recipes and other information she might be interested in."

She then quickly ran off and into the direction of the directors office with some of the students watching her as she ran by. While she was gone I quickly wrote down the uses for purple haze grass, black pool grass and many other assortment of herbs. Money had very little meaning to me so I had no interest in profiting off this information. She was taking a while so I pulled a small book out and began writing the recipes for hundreds of different potions and elixirs down.

Eventually the receptionist came back and panted as she motioned for us to follow her. Ye Yan by this point was confused but followed me without question since he figured I had a motive for this sudden decision. The other alchemists looked on as we all walked by with most of them wondering why I was there and some snorting and asking what could a cultivator provide to alchemists. We finally made it to Yang Xins office and knocked on the door gently.

"Enter." A soft muffled voice said.

"Please have a seat." She said to us with a smile.

"Xiao Lan said you have some recipes to offer us. What may they be?"

"Look for yourself." I said, passing her the paper containing the hundreds of uses for various herbs.

She took the note and began reading it with her eyes darting left and right quicker with every word she read. This knowledge alone would vastly increase the strength of their potions and elixirs. But directly after she finished the note and was about to ask something I pulled out the small book and passed it to her. Her eyes grew large with the number of items listed and given instructions to make.

"What do you want for these? We are willing to give you anything!" She said hastily before realising how impulsive she was.

"I have no use for monetary gain and only wish to see Glory City better off than my city was when it was destroyed."

"If I had to make 2 requests it's that 15% of the elixirs and potions created go to the holy orchid institute. While the other is that a boy with orange hair will most likely approach you with offers to give you recipes. Under no circumstances should you do business with him. If you cannot abide by these rules I will swiftly pull my support from your association and will advise the other families to do the same."

She hesitated for a moment since someone outside of her peers was dictating how the alchemy association operates. But she couldn't utter a single word of refusal since what I was offering was far too great to pass up. She begrudgingly agreed, nodding her head and shaking my hand. While shaking her hand I was able to read her soul realm and knew her soul realms color, form, and attribute.

"Long Fei, pass her the ash wolves technique."

Ye Yan took a moment to realise I was talking to him but pulled the technique out nonetheless. While he was missing a few pages given her soul form she could reach 5 star legend given a few years.

"This is a gift from me to you in good faith. Please show me my trust was not misplaced. As a side note please inform the principal of the holy orchid institute that the elixirs and potions are to only go to commoner students."

With that we made our exit and walked back to my estate where we were greeted by dozens of new faces. Most of the guards on patrol were only of the bronze rank which simply wasn't enough but it was a good foundation to build on. In a few days time things would begin to sink in for Nie Li that there is a new and bigger player in town. With lessening the commoners in his class and taking away his connection to pills and elixirs his group and personal strength would take a hit. With a happy sigh I gathered all members of my newly formed family together.
