Really a cheat?!

A few weeks had passed since Hong Yue Xian arrived in this world. Besides his business activities, he mostly spent his time in the library, talking to family members and servants, or taking walks around the city. The main purpose was of course gathering information.

Hong Yue Xian was the same age as Nie Li, in other words it was still two years before Nie Li wakes up in class, reborn. Speaking of classes, Hong Yue Xian was going to attend the Holy Orchid Institute in two years and be in the same class as Nie Li and the rest.

This meant that Hong Yue Xian had two years to prepare, after all once Nie Li awakens, a lot of things would happen one after another. He would be a match that would ignite the fuse and throw the whole city into an uproar.

So Hong Yue Xian decided to strike early, while he could. Still before that he had to increase his cultivation. What caused him much relief was that his family was very wealthy, so he did not lack resources and funds, and could concentrate on cultivation all day long.

A year had passed in this fashion, and Hong Yue Xian could not help but admit that talent changes everything. The previous Hong Yue Xian started to cultivate at 5 and spent another 5 years to reach 63 soul force. The present Hong Yue Xian, however, spent a year to reach 1 star Silver rank, even without a high grade cultivation technique. Every day he would meditate and feel his soul force improve by several points. Such improvement was absolutely phenomenal. Hong Yue Xian also did not forget to train his body every day when taking breaks from meditation. His body strength had risen from 1 star Bronze rank to 5 star. He was still being limited by his age, thus smaller increase than soul force.

Now that Hong Yue Xian had reached Silver rank, it was time to choose a demon spirit. He did not wish to alert his father to his sudden increase in cultivation yet. He will reveal it in due course as it was too big of a change in too short a time, he was not Nie Li after all. So Hong Yue Xian went out and bought a 1 star Silver rank demon spirit, Snow Wind Wolf. It was not the best but it would do for the time being. After buying the demon spirit he hurried back home to integrate it, he could not wait to merge with it and feel what it's like.

Hong Yue Xian sat in his room meditating for a while to calm himself, before picking up the demon spirit crystal and injecting his soul force. He focused on his soul realm and could see the snow wind wolf spirit struggling as it was eventually dragged inside the soul sphere. Once it was inside, Hong Yue Xian prepared to refine it, but an accident happened.

Suddenly, his soul force glowed crimson and drilled into the snow wind wolf spirit, until the snow wind wolf had fully transformed into a crimson one. The wolf was much bigger than before, its fur was red as if it was drenched in blood. Hong Yue Xian looked at the spirit in astonishment. Before he could wrap his head around what the hell happened, the wolf looked up and howled making his head ache.

After a few seconds the pain was gone and to Hong Yue Xian's surprise there was information in his brain. He did not know where it came from but he sorted it through and could not help but laugh out loud in joy.

"Haha! I knew I should have had a cheat as a transmigrator, who knew I needed to integrate with a demon spirit to awaken it. My cheat is my special soul form like demon spirit, Soul Devouring Blood Wolf. It is able to possess a demon spirit and transform it in its likeness. The only abilities the Blood Wolf has are devouring and refining. It can devour other demon spirits to upgrade the integrated demon spirit. For example, the snow wind wolf is Silver rank, so the Blood Wolf is Silver rank as well. However, once the Blood Wolf devours other Silver rank demon spirits or a Gold rank one, it can use them to upgrade to Gold rank, and beyond. Moreover, the growth rate can also be upgraded, and even some abilities can be retained from the devoured spirits. It was like having a personal nightmare demon pot, except the refining process is more troublesome and is not convenient for mass production."

"But that is not all. The Blood Wolf can also devour the souls of humans and absorb them. In other words, it can devour the soul force of a Gold rank and let me absorb it, increasing my cultivation. Though it is not limited to soul force: knowledge, memories and talent can all be devoured and absorbed. The only problem with otherwise perfect ability is that it only improves by devouring those greater than itself."

"Now I am Silver rank, if I want to increase my cultivation I could use my demon spirit to devour the souls of other Silver rank Demon Spiritualists, but it will only increase my soul force to the limit of Silver rank. So, if I want to reach Gold rank, the Blood Wolf will need to devour a Gold rank Demon Spiritualist. However, that would require me, a Silver rank, to defeat a Gold rank and then forcefully seize the latter's soul realm, which is pretty much suicidal. The only way is to weaken my enemies to the point where my soul force can overpower theirs, allowing my demon spirit to devour their soul realms."

After pondering for close to an hour Hong Yue Xian concluded that it was worthy to be called a cheat, though he would need to be careful and smart about using it. Now that he possessed such a trump card he planned to make full use of it and raise his cultivation even further.

Hong Yue Xian also reconsidered his plans to accommodate his new ability. For example, with it there was no longer any need for the nightmare demon pot. Hong Yue Xian might as well leave it for Nie Li, this way he would be more certain of the future events. There were a few things Hong Yue Xian still wanted to accomplish before the start of school, so he went to bed early.
