Powerful Incentive / You don’t know me

The whole main hall was silent. Twenty five men stood in front of Hong Yue Xian frozen at his words. If it was said by someone else they might think the person was exaggerating the danger, but it was their young master who said that, so it is no more or less true. They all hesitated as the mission was clearly suicidal.

"Good. None of you are reckless morons. I am relieved." Chuckled Hong Yue Xian as he smiled at them. "I realise the risk of the task, so the volunteer will be rewarded for the completion of the mission. Well, let's not talk about the failure, as I am sure you all know what would happen." He said as he gave them all a sharp look, making them tremble.

"Now, should the volunteer succeed in the mission and remain unscathed, he and his family will be rewarded 100 million demon spirit coins as reward. Should the volunteer be crippled, he and his family will receive 100 million demon spirit coins and a Gold rank essence pellet for their son or daughter with no strings attached. And should he meet his tragic end during the mission, he and his family will receive 100 million demon spirit coins and a Black Gold rank essence pellet for their respective child or successor with no strings attached. Now, are there any volunteers?" Listed Hong Yue Xian observing the room.

Once he finished three men stepped forward and wished to take the task. Hong Yue Xian was glad and said. "Cultivate to Legend rank and integrate with the demon spirit. Until I let you know, I want you all to train and spar. The strongest will get the mission. Now go cultivate and await my orders. Dismissed." With that Hong Yue Xian turned into a blurry shadow and disappeared out the window.

A week passed since then as Hong Yue Xian spent his time cultivating. He already reached peak Legend rank and all he had to do was comprehend laws to reach Demigod rank. He started pondering about how to go best about it, when Xiao Ning'er paid him a visit and asked him to go with her to the City Lord's Mansion.

Xiao Ning'er was very bashful and blushed the whole time, as it was the first time they saw each other after engagement. She was now his fiancée, and she felt shy yet happy at the same time. Still, it did not take long for her to get over the vortex of emotions as she dragged Hong Yue Xian along, while explaining that apparently Nie Li came back with Lord Ye Mo.

The moment both of them arrived, they were greeted by the rowdy atmosphere of Nie Li and his gang as all of them surrounded a palm-sized yet gorgeous looking girl. Hong Yue Xian knew she was Goddess of Fire, Yu Yan, and that she could read thoughts, so he cleared his mind and tried to act and think like a normal person, which was surprisingly difficult.

Eventually Nie Li explained about his trip to the Nether Realm and about the impending attack by the Wugui Family. Everyone agreed that they needed to get stronger. So Xiao Ning'er joined Ye Ziyun and the others as Nie Li prepared to devour the demon spirits and transform them into soul force that they could absorb, thus boosting their cultivation.

Hong Yue Xian could not help but snort disdainfully in his heart, that the technique was so inefficient and it also carried risks. His ability was just so much more awesome. Suddenly, he felt a gaze on him and noticed Yu Yan looking at him with an intrigued expression. Realising his blunder, he awkwardly excused himself and escaped from the courtyard.

Yu Yan watched him leave frowning her pretty brows. 'Strange. Why can't I read his thoughts at all?' Thought Yu Yan puzzled. However, Nie Li started to set up the array, drawing her attention away. Meanwhile, Hong Yue Xian did not walk out of the City Lord's Mansion, instead he quietly sneaked into one of the adjacent courtyards.

Inside the courtyard three men were drinking wine in delight. They were the Legend rank experts of the Jade Seal Family that accompanied Nie Li to Glory City. Hong Yue Xian stepped out of the shadow and walked towards them. The trio was surprised but assumed he was a friend of Nie Li. Luo Ming stood up and smiled gently.

"Greetings, young man. What brings you he...re...?" Said Luo Ming, before staring at Hong Yue Xian, the shock making him stutter a bit. He immediately cupped his hands and bowed. He wanted to speak but Hong Yue Xian interrupted him. "As you guessed I am from this city. Remember, our deals are to stay between us. You don't know me and I don't know you. Pass the message to your patriarch to keep it from Nie Li or anyone else. I am sure he knows what is appropriate. Farewell then." With that he walked back into the shadow before disappearing.

The two Legend rank experts were bewildered and asked Luo Ming, but the latter only stated. "I don't know who he is. First time saw him. Forget about what you saw or heard just now. Trust me, it's for your own good." As Luo Ming glanced once more at the place Hong Yue Xian was, he could not help but shudder.

As a higher up of the Jade Seal Family he knew about the deals and was terrified of Hong Yue Xian's methods. He did not wish to end up as his test subject for wine making. He sighed and looked down only to see that he was soaked with cold sweat.

Five days later the sky above Glory City turned gloomy as Wugui Family began its attacks. While Lord Ye Mo and Ye Zong were fighting them, Hong Yue Xian gathered his newly promoted Legend rank experts and left Glory City towards the path to the Nether Realm.

Soon they could see a lone man waiting for something. It was Ye Han, awaiting eagerly Wugui's victorious forces. Hong Yue Xian never liked him and ordered one of his men to get rid of him. Against a Legend rank Ye Han was just a fly, being squashed in an instant.

Hong Yue Xian instructed to clean up the place and set up an ambush, before hiding. Soon the wounded and frightened forces of Wugui Family arrived. Not finding Ye Han they were furious and swore to get revenge on him, only to find themselves surrounded and ambushed by Hong Yue Xian and his men. The battle was rather short, with two Legend Rank perishing, while the rest were captured alive. He would devour them later. After their business done the group returned to Glory City.
