14 A Tasteful Morning

At first, the wine tasted sour and felt like they added extra ingredients into the mix. Lagertha became stunned that they could get away with adding an extra layer of fruit to make the wine taste more nutritious. Brant did not have as much trouble as Lagertha had with drinking the wine, yet it felt weird to taste something some wayfarer came up with. As the Wolf Queen tasted the drink, she could hear some lady sing opera music while the orchestra played in the background. That was the only advantage for her while she was with the demon hunter.

Unlike many humans, Lagertha and Brant had many advantages instead of hunting demons by themselves. They both were glad to see each other after what Mephiles did to the kingdom of Midland. They were glad to have at least some peace after being around so many people and creatures. Unfortunately, this was the only free time the Wolf Queen would ever have because of the demons she is forced to hunt. Lagertha and Brant continue drinking the wine until there is nothing left to drink, and they were both having strange thoughts enter their minds.

"Lagertha... is something wrong? You seem a little dizzy," Brant said.

"Don't worry, it's fine. Sometimes, this sort of thing happens when I finish a potent drink. I'm still trying to get used to the ordeal," Lagertha said. It was when she started to not sound like herself and became something she would not forget.

"Well, my bed is ready for you. In case you need some sleep, I'll just rest myself downstairs," Brant said.

"No, no. It's your bed. Sleep in something that's yours," she said.

"It's alright. There have been a few occasions where I haven't slept in my bed. You don't have to worry much about what I do," he said. It was at that moment when Lagertha began dozing off and not recognizing much about the situation.

Brant places his wine bottle down and walks over to the Wolf Queen, and he sees if he could help her up from his chair. Instead of watching her drop the bottle and likely shattering the wooden floor, Brant takes her empty bottle and places it next to the door.

"Hey, you've done so much last night. A nap on my bed won't be a bad idea for someone like you. You don't mind if I help you to my bed, right?" Brant asked. She gave him no answer, but she slowly nods her head and tries opening her eyes to inspect her best friend.

Without hesitation, Brant wraps both of his arms around Lagertha's shoulder and helps her up from the chair. His bed was only a few feet away, but she was heavy compared to other women. Lagertha's inner nature made her irresistible to anything that would make an ordinary lady fret in fear. She still looked like a common girl most people would gaze upon, yet nothing like the aristocrats. As Brant walked her to his bed, the Wolf Queen was making a few moaning noises to seem like a distraction.

"Come on, Lagertha. Walk straight. It's not that big of a deal," Brant said. As he got even closer to the bed, he could smell Lagertha's scent as her shoulder was wrapped around his back.

He stopped walking her as soon as he made it to his bed; he inspected her body and got even closer to her neck. Brant's nose was all over Lagertha's neck and throat, and he started sniffing her scent to know what she smells like. For others, this was a weird way to introduce somebody and not anyone's concern to know of other people's scent. Brant was satisfied to know much about what Lagertha can do that he could not, but it has its physical costs.

I bet that's a very expensive perfume. She smells superb. She smells like the commoners and aristocrats getting ready to greet each other. He thought.

"Brant... get my back," Lagertha said.

"Your... back?" Brant asked.

"Yeah. Hurry," she said.

"Hold on a moment, Lagertha. This doesn't sound right?"

"Hurry!"

He started having flashbacks of seeing Lagertha strip down in front of him, and he started remembering when she slept next to him. It was a suitable moment, yet a strange experience after being given the truth about her family. He finds himself back in reality and begins hesitating to take her shirt off; her armor and cloak were with her sword next to the door. Thankfully, she was wearing a bra, so nothing would be too revealing for Brant to handle. And so, he slowly takes off Lagertha's brown shirt without her realizing what he is doing to her.

Her body was still smooth, yet her appearance was not like the last time he saw her; her masculine appearance and the sharp sight gave Brant enough curiosity to find out what she did to herself.

Lagertha, what did you do to yourself? Brant thought. She was passed out from the long night, and not even the wine seemed to do her any favors.

Then Brant lays her on her back, and he removes her shoes from her feet so she can stay comfortable. He now only saw her in her bra and pants, but he was not planning to sleep with her on his bed. The Wolf Queen was fast asleep, as the morning sun shined above the village of Gregor. Brant places her shirt and shoes next to her weapons and other items she brought along with her.

"Get some rest, Lagertha," he said. He was very concerned for Lagertha and nervous that she might do something against her free will.

Then Brant wraps his bed blanket around Lagertha's body. And it kept her warm so that the icy wind does not affect the way she sleeps. But as he heads for the door to sleep by himself, he turns around to see if Lagertha was going to open her eyes and find out why he is doing this. The Wolf Queen was far too exhausted to answer any more questions Brant had for her; she would tell him to wait later in the day to speak with her. Her looks and her attire still fascinated him, yet he did not believe Lagertha would accept his compliments. He changes his mind and sleeps on the chair she was sitting on, and he makes sure every candle is blown out.

It would not be a pretty picture to see his house light on fire as he slept in his room with Lagertha on his bed. With nothing else to do, Brant puts his head down and drifts to sleep as the sun shines above the good people of Gregor. Lagertha made no sound as she slept, but Brant often snored and would sometimes breathe heavily if where he slept was not that comfortable. But he had no other choice but to make sure Lagertha is kept safe from the spirits that torment her. Thankfully, Lagertha continued to sleep and not open her eyes to check on the young demon hunter.

Lagertha and Brant had nothing going on during their time in Gregor, and none of them woke up throughout the entire morning. During this time, Lagertha had lots of peace with Brant as she did not have to fight any demons. Even if her presence caused a stir in the hearts of men, she never interfered or corrupted their lives. She was just a common lady of the northern lands, just like her father; her scent and appearance made it clear enough who she truly is. But it was so serious in her case that she never wanted to share everything about her newer self with Brant.

Lagertha still sounded drunk after drinking a giant bottle of wine, and it might not disappear until the night approaches. The afternoon is mostly the time when Lagertha becomes prepared to fight an entire legion of night creatures. It is also a time when she walks the long road to wherever it will take her. As for Brant, he often thought about the day when he would see the Wolf Queen again and form a relationship with her. He imagined the day that would come when he tells her his genuine feelings, especially after all that happened in both of their lives.

Before they knew it, the morning was over and the afternoon was ready to begin in the city of Gregor. Lagertha was the first to wake up, and she woke up feeling well-rested on Brant's bed. She saw him sleep on his personal table, but she thought he would sleep in the living room. She sat on his bed and patiently waited for him to wake up and start a new day.
