That person, he...

"Ok brother, stay safe. Don't miss me too much alright? I'll see you next weekend. Bye-bye." waved Amelia towards her brother as she went onto the bus. She will be going back to campus for a while since she had a bunch of project assignments.

"Alright, little sis, try not to cause to much trouble. See you next weekend. Bye." said Alma with a smile as he waved his hand in return until the bus had finally gone out of his sight. Alma smiles happily as he waved his hand. He then later went back indoors before going into his study.

After seeing his sister off to university, Alma could be seen sitting down in front of his laptop. His personality slowly shifting from the lovely brother to his alternate persona as his focus slowly wondered about. As his alternate personality became clear and focused, he thought about the situation a few days before. About the invite from the government and police to help as a private investigator.

'Thinking about it further, it can't possibly be L who invited me. This is because, from my understanding of him as a person, he is someone who does not like to lose. A childish person per se. For him to call upon my help as a 'private investigator' no less. I could only think that it is the local government trying to just flop around in providing assistance as it doesn't seem to be against their interest currently. Just randomly pick out a guy, give him some documents, send him away, and call it a day. It doesn't even matter if the person does not have sufficient abilities, all they need is a scapegoat to blame the failure of the investigation, I guess.'

Tapping on his chin, Alma thought to himself pessimistically. While pondering on how long this personality switch would last, his phone suddenly started ringing as a call was connected.

*ring ring*

Snapping Alma out of his thoughts, Alma looked at the number on his phone to determine who was it that was able to call him. This is because the number of people who can contact him can be counted on two hands. While wondering who was it that would bother him during this time of the day, he answered the call.

"Hello? Who is calling?" said Alma as he answered the phone.

"Good afternoon, Mr Alma Laune. This is professor Watari from Wammy's house and it is my pleasure to be able to speak to you today."

"Oh? To think it would be the great professor Watari who came calling today. You do know about my situation from your investigation about my identity right? You are apparently very lucky to have called me when my mind is stable."

"Oh ho, why lucky me then if that is true." chuckled professor Watari.

"Now, how did you get my number? I don't remember giving it to you."

"I found it out through my information network as well as the records that you left in L's computer after the last time we encountered each other."

"Really? I did that? Well, colour me impressed with the deeds I did during that period of time even though I do not remember. So what do you want with a cancer patient with mental issues? Or do you want the help of the locally famous 'private investigator'? Are there some lost kittens that you need looking for? Or are you looking for when would the next extra-special-premium-limited-bargain sale would happen?"

"As much as I am intrigued by the second option, I am looking for neither of those options for now. I am here to request the help of the hidden information broker code-named ICARUS. The one who managed to gain a draw against L and me, at least in terms of information technology."

"... I am now really impressed by your information network. But is it just me or did I hear you mention 'for now'? So you are interested in the super-ultra-extra-special-premium-limited-bargain sale that I mentioned!"

"I obtained your information after requesting some help from a few others... And aren't you putting even more adjectives into it now?! What's so special about a bargain sale anyway? Can you please stay on topic?"

*Gasp*

"A non-believer! I shall impart upon you the greatness which is the mega-super-ultra-extra-special-premium-limited-bargain sale if I can, but I don't think you are looking for that information currently. So, tell me why do you need my help? Is it related to those cases of heart attacks?." said Alma as the light in his eyes seem to flicker a little, a sign of his wavering focus.

"Yes, L would like to investigate that case and I would like you to provide assistance in the form of information and support from the net."

"Hmm, to think that I would actually be invited for this investigation. L does not know of this right? Considering that it was you, professor Watari that contacted me." asked Alma, as he decided to end the conversation promptly before his focus completely changed.

"Yes, he does not know yet about your participation. That is if you have accepted the invitation?" confirmed professor Watari.

"At first, you merely had my attention, but now, you have my interest! I can't wait to see the look on L's face when he realises you asked for my help. Hah, would that be a sight to see! Alright, I will accept your request. Since it is interesting, I'll even make my services free of charge."

"Then I shall thank you for your kindness. I look forward to working with you."

"You should be warned though, due to my affliction, my assistance will be irregular. My mental stability has been decreasing and there would be a time limit for me to assist you personally." warned Alma.

"I see..."

"Don't worry, in light of my current situation, I will establish a program that will send you the latest news and information from various sectors regularly. You will have access to my database during this period."

"Thank you. Your help is much appreciated Mr Alma Laune, or should I now call you Icarus?" said professor Watari with relief, happy that Alma has accepted his request.

"Ahahaha, don't be so formal old man. Just being casual will do, hearing you say that with a straight voice makes me feel that I have one of those eight-grader syndromes. I just might feel embarrassed at hearing that. All the best for the investigation. I will drop by when I can. Until then, try not to face the computers too much professor Watari. It isn't good for your health. Until next time. Ciao." said Alma promptly, not waiting for a reply before ending the call.

*Beep Beep*

*Sigh*

'Now, what will happen next? The timing is becoming more and more irregular. Sometimes I have a few minutes to a few hours or maybe even a day to a week. I hope I won't do something stupid like the last time I lost focus when I practising my hacking skills. At least nothing bad had happened, I think?' sighed Alma internally as his focus started to wander once again.

[You have avoided a life-threatening event.

You have experienced a similar situation a number of times.

A new story is unavailing itself.

Story: You will be the death of yourself one day! Just not today, I think?

Just because you have memory loss, it still does not justify you doing stupid things! You have avoided multiple events that could have threatened your life by luck. Isn't that great? It would be if those events weren't due to your dumb actions! Even worse, you don't even seem to remember it! Now you seem to go about life, unconsciously avoiding the metaphorical landmines that you placed yourself! I guess that's why they say ignorance is bliss. At least you seem to be pretty lucky surviving so long, so that's a plus, I guess?

Effect: Dumb luck, Increased survival chances of a self-induced life-threatening event. ]

A few weeks prior, somewhere in Japan, Kanto region, Light Yagami has just obtained the death note. Curious about whether the information that is written in the death note to be true, Light then proceeded to conduct various tests using the available data of prisoners and criminals worldwide that is available on the internet. This is done to determine the validity of the capabilities of the death note that have been stated inside it.

In the first five days, he had the book, Light has written the names of many criminals and prisoners recorded in the online public database. The news of many confirmed deaths of the prisoners reached him and helped him confirm that the things written in the death note are indeed true. For Light Yagami, what started out as a minor interest in the death note, thinking that it was merely a prank, ended up as something that is far greater.

Upon figuring out that he can kill people just by writing their names on the death note, Light was scared at first. Having killed someone with his own actions, he became stressed due to this realization, but he overcame it soon. He, Light Yagami, as a person, felt that everything was futile, that everything is just boring.

Doing what he did, killing criminals by writing their names, he noticed the vast amount of criminals in the world. Many crimes go unpunished and some criminals even roam free. Light felt that the world was rotten, and those people should die, and he, Light Yagami, with the death note in hand, shall change the world for the better. He felt that someone should do something about it, and he believed that he is the only one who can.

On the fifth day after obtaining the death note, he encountered the shinigami, Ryuk, who described to him the side effects of being the one who uses the death note. This encounter served to further solidify his belief. By killing people using the base effect of the death note, which is a heart attack, he shall let the world know that those who are doing evil will be punished, and eventually, the world will realise that doing evil will result in their death. Thus, creating a world where only kind-hearted people will live. In doing so, he, Light Yagami, shall become the god of this new world.

On the side note, most of the prisoners and criminals whose name has been written by Light on the death note has died while those who survived were those whose names were wrong or those whose photos were concealed and unavailable. Coincidentally, one of the names written is Alma Laune. Alma's photo and name were available in the prisoner records for reason's that Alma failed to remember. Thankfully, Alma survived because the name inputted into the prisoner records were written as Arma Launde. Though Alma remained unaware of it until sometime far in the future.

[You have escaped 'Death' once.

You have obtained a unique fragment of this world.

Story: Unique fragment, what's that?

You seem to have experienced something unique, but what was it?

(Incomplete due to missing fragments)

Effect: None ]

(Forgotten memories - Hackerman, it is time to hack!)

A young man can be seen sitting down in front of multiple computers. Many books litter the table and the floor. The young man, Alma, currently age 17, can be seen laying down his head on the table for a short rest after an intense study session. Soft snoring can be heard from him before it stopped suddenly. Alma's head twitched a little before he sat upright abruptly.

*Yawn*

Letting out a short yawn, 'Alma' turned on the computers and swiftly began sifting through various websites.

"Hahaha, it is finally my turn to have some fun! Ever since studying cybersecurity and programming, I have been itching to try my hand at seeing what I can do! Don't stop me, guys! Alma here is gonna get a little crazy!" laughed Alma crazily with a wide grin on his face as his fingers flew across the keyboard. Multiple websites open and closed before Alma settled on what he stupid thing he wanted to try.

'Hehehe, let's see how their firewall and security fare against my skills. I shall train my hacking skills to the max during this period or my name isn't Alma!' thought Alma inwardly as he began trying to access the secured database of various companies before moving towards the databases of those working in the security sector.

(In the inner mind of Alma, where the few available alternate-personalities exists.

Sis-con: He seems to be having fun. How nice.

Informant: But we're pretty sure he will forget about it soon enough though?

Cook: Shush guys, let Hacker have some fun. He has to let out some steam one way or another. Studying is pretty stressful after all.

Sis-con: Why do you guys label me as sis-con? Can't it be loving brother instead?

Handyman: Don't ask me, ask the scholar.

Scholar: Because it is fun?

Informant: Yup, because it is fun.

Sis-con: You guys are mean.

Cook: By the way, should we look after his actions in case he does something stupid?

Lawyer: Should you guys be really saying that? You all seem to always do some dumb things all the time though?

Everyone: ...

Scholar: Even if that is true, at least cut us some slack.

Cook: So you didn't deny it after all...)

Outside of the lively inner mind of Alma, the Hacker personality has finally managed to crack into various databases from various countries.

*Phew*

Wiping off his sweat while letting out a sigh of satisfaction. Alma gazed upon the various information that he stole- *cough* obtained with pride. From international stock prices to the case records of the FBI, Alma has managed to access the all, albeit with a great amount of effort over the course of a few days.

During the few days of the free reign that he had obtained, he has honed his hacking skills through practical experience. Though some mishaps have indeed happened, he still manages to overcome it eventually. Besides the body's basic needs, Alma fully focussed himself to test his limits and pushed himself to master the skills of cyber-security, programming, and hacking. Now, staring at the fruits of his labour, Hacker let out a smile before saying something that set off a wave of retorts from the lively inner mind where the other personalities are.

"Hahaha, now that my job is done, time to fully kick back relax before my time is up. It is time to follow the unspoken tradition when we manage to come out and play. Let's do something stupid and hope it doesn't backfire on us! No idea who started it, but hey, it looks fun!" said Alma boisterously even though he looks to be very tired with heavy eye shadows due to the lack of sleep.

'Now what should I do? I do have access to many databases around the world, should I do something with that then? Hmm, alright, what about leaving some records of my presence being there? A picture saying Alma was here. I can't wait to see their faces when those people notice it. But wouldn't it be dangerous to use my real name? The scholar seems to be interested in poems and myths recently, or maybe it was memes? Bah who cares, I'll just wing it then.' thought Alma before he succumbed to his tiredness, refusing to think further and immediately begun his plan.

In the coming days, various companies, countries, and the intelligence bureau seem to be flooded with calls. For three days straight, whenever someone turned on their computer, as long as they were connected to the internet once, will have a picture of an adorable cartoony chicken wearing a hoody holding a keyboard saying "You just got hacked!" or "ICARUS was here!" and various variations of the word "Cluck" appearing on their screen like a pop-up ad.

At first, some people were worried that it was some dangerous virus, but after some experts checked and investigated the issue, it was discovered that there weren't any other danger and loss caused by this incident. Of course, that is if you ignore the pop-up of the cartoony chicken that always appear whenever you turn on or restart your computer.

No matter how the cybersecurity experts diagnosed and checked the computer, they were unable to discover the origin of the problem and remove it. Eventually, they decided to drop it as the ICARUS incident resolved itself after the third day which they all just disappeared without causing any other problems, though many places decided to amp up their network security after this incident.

The people working in the security and media sector eventually called and recorded this incident as the ICARUS incident. This is because it sounds a lot better and they were rather perplexed as to whether recording it as the 'worldwide chicken hacking virus incident' is a good idea. Hence, they could only use the only other word available from the pop-up as the name of the case because calling the case using the word chicken is honestly kind of embarrassing.

Many civilians found it the incident to be pretty funny and interesting though, as the pop-up can be closed after 5 seconds like an advertisement on youtube. Many children liked the cute and adorable chicken illustration and decided to save and record that image. Some companies that were quick on their feet even decided to sell merchandise of the hacker chicken illustration due to its popularity that went viral. There was an increase in the number of adorable chicken plushies around the world in the following months after this incident.

Some history and myth enthusiasts have rather mixed reception regarding this incident as some found it interesting while others were dissatisfied at the misinterpretation and representation regarding the story of Icarus and that is was not about a chicken. Nevertheless, they were rather happy because it sparked some interest regarding the origin of the word Icarus which brought them some limelight.

Meanwhile, Alma can be seen inputting his name and record in various databases stealthily while making sure it won't be easily discovered. A name here in the record of who has climbed which mountain, registration of a male advisor in the feminist supremacy party, a profile there in the FBI records, and maybe a mugshot in the prison records of America.

"Hehehe, I wonder what will happen when they find out? There are some typos of course, but it will still be interesting to see." laughed Alma with a refreshing smile looking at his accomplishment, the typos a result of his fatigue.

'I really did a good job with the chicken illustration though, hope scholar doesn't mind me taking a word out of the books he has read. Hmm, should I custom order a plushy version of this chicken? It does look rather soft and fluffy.... and done. Order sent. Don't thank me, my dudes, just doing my job.' smiled Alma happily as he plopped onto the bed and finally fell asleep.
