1 Prologue - New World

I, Rayford Ketch, have died.

Well, I thought I did. Turns out, my heart is still beating and my lungs are still functioning! However... these hands are not my own, this face is not my own, this bed is not my own... and this world? Definitely not my own. I've reincarnated, or rather... transmigrated into a child's body.

It sucks.

I had been THIS close to achieving my dream, I merely wanted to become a humble cartoonist, drawing his days away whilst listening to the clock tick. Okay, sure, I am the one who decided to end their life, but that's besides the point! I never once expected to wake up in such a foreign world!

In the first place, why is the television floating?!

Why does the toilet not have a flush switch?!

Where is this body's closet?!

Tch... I'm really not enjoying this new life, and I've only been awake for a few hours. If the day and night cycle is the same as Earth... then it should be about midnight. Well... I can't really tell which of the moons I should use to figure that much out.

Isn't 5 moons a bit excessive?

None of that matters, I'm getting irritated! Why couldn't I have woken up during the day time! It would have made life so much easier!

Well, all hope isn't lost... there is a book shelf in this room!

Walking over to the bookshelf, I skim through the book titles, and immediately figure a few things out.

"Basic Magus Tiers", "The Basics of Magic", "The Necromancer Who Cried", "Magic Academia."

The titles alone... give me all the information I need. I've entered a world of magic. I think... I hope. In fact, if this is a world of magic... all my previous grievances are gone! Except for the lack of a flush switch!

Slaying dragons, casting world breaking spells, obtaining divinity... in a world of magic you can have it all— no... you can have more than that! I think! I need to read!

...

After reading for a few hours, noticeably, I think I see a sun coming up— well, whatever they call the local star here. It's color... it's very red, seems like a Red Giant, which doesn't seem to affect the color and atmosphere of the planet, everything looks very similar to Earth.

Lighting aside, I've learned a few things...

In this world, there is indeed magic. Most people seem to get the ability to use magic by the age of 12, after entering something called the "Mana Gathering" stage. Mana Gathering isn't the only stage, there are two others.

Mana Condensing and Core Shaping. I've read the basics behind each stage and understand them for the most part, but to put it simply... it just means that you get stronger with each stage.

After reading the book, I learned something very crucial. Even more crucial than the stages. Runes. Runes are the switches and levers of this world, which are activated via the pressure of one's finger. After they are pressed, they suck up the mana in the air to activate some sort of function. This may not sound that important, but I realized one thing... the toilet is flushed with a rune!

I've really needed to go to the restroom, but the previous owner of this body forgot to flush... which completely stopped me.

After going to the restroom, I did learn a few more things.

First of all, the hierarchy in this world goes like this:

School Chancellors -> Scholars -> Teachers -> Students -> Citizens.

This, quite basically means... education is the way to power. I can't say I like that, however, some people are so magically inclined that not even chancellors of the strongest academies can oppose them.

I don't enjoy school, but I do begrudgingly attend. In order to achieve a spot in the hierarchy, without studying all the time... I must become strong! No! I can't let people be above me, I have to become the strongest!

I've already made the very first step into the world of magic, in the form of flushing a toilet. Life here won't be simple, but it'll be fun.

Who knows... maybe I'll have a family this time around? That sounds nice.

Well all that is besides the point, I learned a lot from these books! I even learned the basics behind casting spells, but in order to cast spells in the first place I'll need to know my attribute... attributes get tested at the age of 12, this body looks about that age, from what I can see anyways.

Even the mirrors here are activated by runes. No, it's more accurate to say the mirror itself is a rune. This new body of mine seems to have a very silky black hair, with emerald green eyes and a very symmetrical face... I'm handsome!

I can already see it, this life will be amazing!
