12 The Second Market

After their celebration yesterday, everyone's morale was sky-high. Since they had the mindset of regular farmers they had never expected to be allowed to have a celebration like that, so in order to thank their Lord, they worked even harder than usual, with a smile on their faces.

This sight really surprised the new arrivals, which consisted of 4 farmers and 2 minor special talents this time. Seeing that even those carrying wood were smiling they felt like they might've come to some sort of paradise. After welcoming these people, Jay directed them to some of the newly constructed houses. Something that brought them a great amount of joy.

The talents were 2 brothers who were both miners. This was a task quite a bit more dangerous than woodcutting hence getting some proper miners was a great boon. After all, the threats the woodcutters faced were from wild beasts. A threat that was nearly entirely dispelled by the large number of soldiers helping out.

After moving a few people from the woodcutters' group over to the miners to carry stone he took the 4 new farmers with him. He quickly brought them over to the bridge west of the village.

On the other side of the river, there was a large open field. Farming on a place like this would assure the safety of the farmers as they could see any potential threats from miles away. Arriving here, Jay picked one of the farmers and told him to take charge of the planting for now.

The reason he picked that particular farmer was since he had the F grade management talent and D+ grade farming. These were a significantly better score then the other farmers, thus he could also be considered a lesser talent.

He then left him the 100 Garshten seeds and the 10 violet salads. Garshten was extremely valuable in the beginning stages. It was a vegetable that grew out of the ground, the end product would look a lot like a batch of purple bananas. They didn't taste well but were very healthy and filling. Furthermore, the Garshten could be replanted and for each one planted 6 more would grow in its place. Considering it only took a week to grow it really was a magical food. Later on, it would become very common but for now, he would be one of the few Lords that wouldn't have to worry about food for the time being.

Violet salads, on the other hand, was something very different. The 10 violet salads he had wouldn't multiply, instead, the ones he had would grow, how much it could grow in total was unknown but as soon as someone would eat or harm it in any way it would stop growing and spoil within a week. Violet salads were seen as a delicacy as it did bring some positive side-effects to those who regularly ate them.

Once he was back in town he couldn't help but feel a sense of pride. At this point, the tailor had made most people a pair of shoes which was considered a luxurious item for the spawned.

If the town kept growing in prosperity as it was now, he would soon have to make a second perimeter. Something he was oddly happy about having to do. There was one thing he did have some worries about. He was gaining an immense amount of resources now, allot more than previously expected but he simply didn't have enough people.

Nearly all of his people were gathering during the day and in the evening when this became too dangerous most even took the initiative to take combat lessons from general Green.

At this point, the troops were training their strength during the day by chopping woods and pulling carts while they would learn how to fight properly during the evening. Each of them was allowed to choose their own basic weapons. So there were now the spear fighters, which numbered about 50%, the axe fighters which was about 25% and the sword fighters who were the remaining 25%.

In the end, he entered the market again to buy 10 miners, for 15 gold, 2 scientists for 5 gold, 5 archers for 10 gold and a basic warp gate blueprint for 20 gold.

As he left the market he flinched. He had once again spent nearly all his gold. In order to distract himself from this, he then threw the newly acquired coins. Soon he was greeted by another group of loyalists. Other than 1 of the miners who had an E-grade management skill all the others were F grades. This obviously didn't discourage him as he put them to work.

The archers were sent to hunt some game together with 2 of the more experienced spearmen. The miners went mining and the scientists worked together with old man Von Hauser to start building the basic warp gate.

Getting a warp gate was one of the most important requirements in order to keep growing. It was a device that needed both magic and science in order to work. This device would allow them to go to the main city for a fee or head to special event locations when they would open.

At this point, everything was going well. He saw people moving wood to a new worksite which was Architect Gariel's newest blueprint. A warehouse.

After seeing how much wood they had in stock he decided to take all woodworkers on a military expedition the next day. There were still the ruins that were marked on the Goblin map. And of course, the horse-symbol which could potentially mean they could make a cavalry force. Or perhaps use the horses in order to drag the carts, which would surely speed up the process even more.

As the sun was setting and the sound of warriors training in the barracks could be heard, Jay went to the market once more. This time he was just going to spend a few silver for wheat. After all, this might be useful in order to catch the horses. And the tailor was busy working hard on reigns and a basic saddle.

As he was about to click on 'the System shop' the button next to it brightened, stunning Jay. It hadn't even been a week yet there was already a second person in his region with a market? This was truly surprising.

He quickly entered the Player Market placing a trade order with a bunch of his wood straight away. This was a system players that didn't want gold could use. Then other players could enter and offer one of their items in return.

And as expected, a few seconds later the other player entered the trade request. In the end the player offered 10 gold, this was quite a decent price so he accepted. The system would only buy that amount for about 5 gold and then it would sell it for a staggering 20 gold.

Being content with the trade, Jay exited the market. Despite finding out there was another player with a market now, he was in a rather good mood. After all, he already gained a huge lead even if the other party had a Gold Token.

Thinking of all the things he had already used the market for previously he couldn't help but feel sorry for the other people. They probably didn't even have a barrack yet, nor a stable, nor a wall, nor anything over 20 people. And as for basic magic books? Keep dreaming, he had even bought out the stock the system had.

He could even be called glad learning of this new development. After all, trading was something that could greatly help all parties involved. But for now, he went to bed. The next day they would go to the ruins and he had a feeling he'd need his strength then.
