Chapter-3: A couple of Shots

The camera panned and zoomed out, I could see 6 people, a man and a woman chilling beside a pool surrounded by 2 guards in black suits and MP5 H&K. A versatile weapon, not that much effective at the range I was at though. On the balcony I could see 2 more guards, same uniform but the one on the right had an AR-15 and the other one higher up on the upper roof having an R11 RSAS. They all looked professional. I zoomed in my camera and focused it again on the two people being guarded. The man was wearing a green shirt, with plead pants. A gold chain on his neck with a cigar in his mouth-a classic millionaire portrayal- the woman was wearing a red dress, looking a bit glum as the man laughed. His last laugh.

I was crouched behind the wall on top of an apartment building, about 100 meters from the pent house of the so-called 'great' Yeasr Narkima, located in the eastern region of prefecture-7,a measly 10 minute ride from my home. I simply had to take a bus to reach this place. The phone in my hand was showing the live feed from the camera that I had placed on top of the wall.Recon, no matter how boring, is important. On my left was a bag, inside it was a stock folded VSS-M, two mags filled with subsonic 9x39mm cartridges, a perfectly suppressed weapon. On my right side was a Makarov(PB) 9x18mm internally suppressed handgun. In case, I need to shoot stuff point blank.

I checked my watch, 2124, the light was plausible, the wind still. I pocketed my phone and unzipped the bag, took the VSS out. Checked that the sight had been zeroed to 100, cocked it back to check if the receiver was working. Took one mag out and popped it in, chambered a round and waited, trying to focusing. This was always the hardest part, the adrenaline starts rushing but you have to remain calm , your hands starts to shake but you have to remain calm, you begin to think so you focus, you plan your shots and then execute it.

First shot, R11,2 secound pause, secound shot AR-15, third and fourth in succession, MP5s, last 2 shots at the target and his family. Make it seem personnel.

I unfolded the stock, the wind was moving, the sky was clear. A distant cawing of a crow was all that breached the silence. Not now, wait.

The wind fell, I turned around in a flash while also standing up, flicking the safety off. The crosshair lined up with the body, * click, controlling the recoil I shifted the crosshair to the next one, the crosshair lined with a guy who had a sword in his chest.....

I don't remember anything about backup.

My fore finger placed on the trigger guard, the situation needed to be observed, not charged in. A girl about 5'3, with unkept long purple hair took out the sword. She was wearing a brown skirt, a white shirt with a yellow and brown checkered tie. Her face was covered with a black mask and sun-glasses. Even I could know she was not to be messed around with. She bent and took the handgun the AR-15 guy had, and started walking towards the edge of the roof. Just above Yeasr.

I aimed at Yeasr and his wife, they had no idea what was happening. Again on aiming at purple-hair, she was standing at edge of the roof. She sheathed her sword, put the gun in the front of her skirt saluted towards me and opened her arms wide and gently fell off.

Did she know I was here?? How, I am about a hundred meters away??

I saw here fall, the MP5 jump into action, raising there guns towards her, Yeasr startled stand. The I saw her appear before the MP5 on the right, slash his head off while using her left hand to aim the gun at the other guard.

Double tap, one at the chest and other at the head. She was trained, the way she used the recoil.

She aimed the gun at Yeasr, who was covering his wife behind him. Brave man, but useless. Purple hair then took off her mask and gently let it fall to the ground. I turned my scope to focus on Yeasr, I didn't need to see her face. I know the significance of this move. I like my life no matter how bad it might be.

Actually I could just leave, she just did my work for me or.....I turned my VSS and aimed at the wife and Yeasr. Too bad, I need this kill.

*click,*click.

I saw two bullets travel in the air and then, I saw them get slashed away in mid-air. A guy in black hoodie, who had a sword on his back was standing behind Yeasr, his hand outstretched. Looking directly at me. Then he disappeared, and all that was left was a waste of human bodies. Decapitated and limb-less.

I threw up a little in my mouth.

I slowly removed the magazine from my gun and started disassembling it. Those two, no way, were human. Either they were Beholders( not much chance, I would have known) or Mutants. The latter was much more possible, there was the brief possibility of them being an Ancient, but the Order would have been keeping tabs on them then.

A beholder was a person who by the will of fate, has gained supernatural ability either through bloodline, pact or artifact. Mutants are the human designed people i.e. people who have been given abilities by genetically modifying them or by augmenting them. Humans answer to fate.

The Ancients, however is another story altogether. All I know, that half of the order is filled with them. Considered to be higher beings, all they want is to gain independence from fate.

I took the camera from the wall and stuffed it into the bag, the target was dead and I couldn't care less. I slung the bag over my shoulder and started walking towards the door. A barely audible sound, as a soft screech and the door burst open. I quickly upholstered my handgun and fired a couple of shots towards the door while diving towards the right. Running towards a group of metal pipes over the cover , I cursed my stupidity. How the hell did I get jumped?

I ducked beside the metal pipes, checked the mag of the gun, after firing 6 shots left a grand total of 7. If these are mutants, I am fucked. I heard movement in front of me and I quickly fired 2 shots, 5 left. I don't want to lose all my cards here. I ran towards the edge of the roof, while spraying the gun wildly, jumping at the last movement.
