6 Mila's dream

Alita was sitting next to Mila as she slowly stroked her little daughter's adorable face. Aiden had told her not to wake Mila up as he was worried that waking her up would cause her to be problematic causing them to have to delay their journey.

One minute...five minutes...

"Aiden, I can't take it anymore, I need to wake her up," said Alita with a look of worry as she glanced at the cold curled up body of Mila in the back seat as she was now sound asleep.

"Ok, you can try, don't force her up though. That dream seemed to take a really large toll on her mind." Aiden spoke calmly.

Alita reached out to Mila's shoulder with her long slim arm as she prepared to shake Mila gently. However, Mila suddenly opened her eyes, wide open, she then seemed to be in a lost state as she looked around her surrounding in a confused and scared look. She felt an arm grasp her shoulder and she looked towards the source of the hand. As she saw her mother tears once again flew out but this time there was no screaming. Mila's arms swung around her mom as she tightly hugged her like they were saying goodbye.

"Mommy, you're ok. I knew that daddy wouldn't let anything happen to you. I missed you so much."

Alita was completely lost but her face shone with a bright smile as she gladly hugged her daughter back. She must've had a terrible dream.

"You ok now Mila? We're nearly there. Daddy and I were really worried."

Mila replied with a ferocious nod and she suddenly asked: "Daddy is here?"

"Yes, he's in the driver seat."

Hearing the reply from her mother, Mila's whole body seemed to turn a few years younger as she suddenly seemed to be full of energy. Mila suddenly asked another question with a serious expression on her cute face

"Daddy?"

"Yes dear"

"Did ever run over an animal?"

"Umm... Well yes Mila, I've run over a few animals... But they were all accidents"

"No, daddy. You're not understanding. Did you run over an animal when I was sleeping?"

*silence*

"Yes, I did. The fog was really thick and I couldn't see it as it was a very small creature."

The whole car was stunned into silence. The temperature in the car had suddenly seemed to drop a few degrees as a tense atmosphere had suddenly descended. How could Mila have known that? It must have been a coincidence. This was the only explanation the parents could come up with to calm themselves but they were suddenly left with an even deeper sense of foreboding.

Even since Mila woke up, she was not the same anymore. Fifteen minutes had passed. Mila's eyes would continuously look outside but would now occasionally look empty as if she was lost in thought, her lips would often quiver like a violin string while doing so. This sight raised a red flag in Alita's mind. So she turned towards her now seemingly different daughter and asked "Mila dear, tell me about your dreams. Mommy is very curious?"

"Ok, then mommy. First I had a dream where I was in a kingdom and we were the royal family and was in a large field and there were a lot of trees surrounding it and the sky was dark red. Suddenly, a magical creature jumped out on to the field and looked at me and raised its arms which were like a bent knife. It looked at me and said, "I haven't eaten in so long." I then tried to run but my legs wouldn't move. I called out to daddy but daddy didn't come. The creature hurt me and then I saw nothing. Hmmm... I can't remember past that."

"Wow Mila, I didn't know your dream was that bad. You wanna sit up at the front seat with me and daddy?"

"Yes please!"

Hearing her daughter's answer Alita said "Ok come on up," as she swiftly climbed into the front seat and Mila followed with a few tumbles as she seemed like she had some difficulty with climbing. In the end, she used the excuse that the car was moving so she couldn't get her balance.

As the two girls climbed up, Aiden gave both of them a heart-warming smile as he said "Mila, don't worry. I won't let you and your mommy suffer. I'll always be your hero..."

As if Mila had expected her dad to say this, her face showed no distinct reactions except but a firm nod as she seemed distracted in thought.

Suddenly, her face shone with a bright expression as she had remembered what she was thinking of.

"Oh yeah, Daddy?"

"Yes, Mila?"

"I remembered what happened after my dream now. I saw a lady in my mind, she said she was my spirit-guide and she told me to stay calm, it was her that rescued me from my dream. She told me that she had a few messages for you."

Aiden's face was still concentrated on the thick white mist in front of him, he seemed to not believe what Mila had just said.

Mila, however, continued to speak about what the lady in her mind had told her:

"She told me that daddy would have a hard time believing what I will say and that she exists. So she told me to give you a message:

"Sacred Sedepisity Stone or something like that. She used some confusing words"

Hearing this, Aiden's body was instantly frozen in place. His expression changed from nonchalant to serious. Even Alita had never seen her husband with such a serious expression. Aiden's anxious eye gazed towards Mila as he spoke with a firm voice " What else did she say?"

"Well, she said that you will need to be careful. Trials are ahead and that you will know about them soon...Oh yeah, she said to me to tell you to drive on the right side of the road."

Hearing Mila's reply, Aiden's body suddenly relaxed as if he had a ton of weight taken off him. He nodded towards the two and turned the black steering wheel towards the right as the car now drove on the right side of the road.

Currently, Aiden's thoughts were in a giant mess as he was trying to decipher the meaning behind what the lady in her mind said. In the beginning, he thought it was just a dream but when Mila mentioned the message. How does she know that? The lady couldn't be related to it right? This is impossible. Father said that it was just a legend... The last time I hear that recited was when grandfather died. On his death bed, he told me that if I ever hear it, then it meant a great change would happen in this world. Is it happening? I need to get Mila and Alita to the shelter as soon as possible.
