1 Prologue

It is now the year 20XX, and tomorrow is the release of ARCH, the brand new VRMMO game that has caught the whole world's attention. ARCH was released by a previously unknown game company that suddenly made several breakthroughs with the VR technologies in the past couple of years. They allow people to play by scanning their whole body to produce data that was said to be similar to our soul.

People are very hyped about the release, and world wide pre-order has reached 20 million units during the first day the pre-order was opened. This number keeps on increasing day after day due to ARCH gameplay videos that shows how it can create a world just like reality.

-A day before ARCH release-

Itou Yuuichi is an international student who's currently just lazying around in his room playing games all day just like what any normal student will do in their summer break. "Ahhhh, I'm done ! my team was too heavy"

Since his childhood Yuuichi was always good at playing game. Most of the games that he played are competitive multiplayer games like MOBA, FPS, MMORPG, and fighting games. He was able to reach top 50 In this highly popular MOBA game that he started playing a year ago.

Which is why he was so excited to try his first VRMMO game ARCH. Previously, he has played several MMORPG, in which he was able to reach the top 100 in PVP. "But with this VR being almost like reality, I'm not really confident with my physical abilities." I wonder if I should go for a long ranged class hmm.

When all of a sudden he receives a message notification from his smartphone.

'Congrats player A9198345, you are qualified to receive a special bonus for ARCH.

Rewards will already be applied directly to the server'

'Please don't reply to this message'

'Huh I never participated for any competition of some sort, is this a scam ?' But the sender was officially registered as ARCH, and no action was required anyway. Wow, I guess I'm pretty lucky to receive a bonus even before starting the game.

Yuuichi was browsing the internet, and found one of his old classmate in a news headline 'Helen li, the leader of a top 10 guild of the currently most popular MMORPG 'Gate' has announced that she will retire to devote her time into playing ARCH, Helen is also a famous streamer and she has.....'

'Ah this girl, she still likes to play MMORPG as usual. I wonder if I can also be famous like her if I focused on that game instead of trying new stuff all the time' In the past, Yuuichi always switch between games after he thought that he has reached a decent rank in the game. "But, this time I'll focus all my attention on ARCH, if I get good enough I might even make some money by playing this game"

During their high school, they used to play 'Gate' a famous MMORPG at the time together. They even created a guild filled with their whole class. However, guild made by classmates don't usually last long. Gradually, most of the class lost interest in the game, and our guild was disbanded.

It looks like she still play the game even after we disbanded. Heck, she even became the leader of a top guild. "Maybe we'll come to play together again in ARCH this time" though it is unlikely that she still remembers me.

-Somewhere inside the ARCH development team-

"So, can this game really act as a preparation for the upcoming disaster" one of the guy asked.

"Yeah, we have no other choice, this seems like the best way to strengthen our world according to the gods" someone said while drinking his bubble tea.

"But this game that we make with the help of the gods sure is amazing. Not only can it allow users to get nutrients from stuff they eat in the game, they can also gain a portion of the power they have inside the game later" one of the staff said while holding the completed model of the device in his hand which was only about the size of a normal bike helm.

"I guess we can only see how it goes in the future, since we ourselves don't completely understand how they can merge their powers with the game that we made"

"If anything goes wrong, we'll just ask the messenger guy to fix it hahahah"

*door slides open*

All of a sudden a handsome guy with a suit who looked like he was in his 30s came through the automatic door. He looked very tired, like someone that haven't slept for 3 days straight.

"Haaah, why do I have to do this, can't they just send someone else for something like thiss"

...And he looked pretty pissed off as well.

"Uwahh, I guess the gods has been working him nonstop"

"Hey we're just talking about you"

Everyone on the development team was very familiar with this guy that has just appeared. He was the messenger that said the gods asked him to make a VRMMO game with all of them. At first, the staff thought he was someone with a screw loose in his head. However, with all the magical technology and materials that he brought with him we all came to believed him. Soon after he brought all those stuff he also showed us something that we thought was plain impossible.

It was magic.

He started by showing us simple magic like fire and lightning, but that alone wasn't enough to convince all of the staff to start making some VRMMO game that will allow the user to experience a world that feels just like reality. The guy then proceed to tear off one of his finger, and we all panicked back then. Unexpectedly, he regenerated his own finger with a healing spell. We were all dumbfounded when he simply just said that he can do it again if we're still not convinced.

Afterwards, he told us that the gods want the humans to increase their strength because the world is going to change after a great disaster in the future.

He didn't explain what the disaster was or when it will be, But he said that the gods will fund their company in developing the new game system. He said their budget will be 5 billion dollars and that they can ask for more if it's not enough. Furthermore, everyone will all also be paid millions of dollar per week. Of course nobody dares to object after being offered with that sum of money.

"Oh you're all here, I will need your help with this" said the messenger while holding a small metallic cube around the size of a fist. He explained that the gods wants them to send their blessings to these people that they have chosen in the data inside the list.

"that's easy"

"just leave it to us"

"Yea we got this"

"Okay, I'll be going then" though they said it was easy, if anything goes wrong it will be his responsibility. But he's just too lazy to do anything else right now.

After he left the cube to the staff, he immediate left the office in a hurry. The staff even started to feel bad for thinking to let him take care of everything if there's any problem.

"Okay, so first bonus is for Ellie Han, number A9198344"
