The next morning, Su Lin woke up with a jolt. He felt the most sensitive part of his body, his tails, being pulled with a hard tug. Su Lin yelped and tensed his muscles to jump away but before he could, he felt whatever was grabbing his tails let go.

Su Lin, now wide awake, turned around and bared his canines at the offender. Gray moved back with his hands in the air when he saw Su Lin poised to attack.

"Little fox, don't be mad. I couldn't wake you up so I had no choice but to pull your tails." He said innocently.

"Never touch them again." Su Lin glared.

'System, with my tails like this, wouldn't it become my greatest weakness?' Su Lin asked as he frowned.

"Yes Host, it can be said that your tails are the most valuable part of your body. Because they store your power, if let's say, someone cuts one off, it can be refined into a really powerful pill." System explained.

Su Lin frowned, "Doesn't that mean that heavenly foxes tails are sought after?"

"Yes Host, they are not only heavily sought after, they are also extremely rare which, if people find out what you are, there will be no end to the trouble it would cause." System said.

Su Lin sighed and rubbed his paw on his face.

Gray looked at him curiously but didn't pay much attention to his antics.

"Come on, we're leaving." Gray said as he grabbed his cloak and covered up his body.

Gray checked out of the inn and brought Su Lin out. Based on what the inns' owner said, the nearest town was about a days travel away on foot.

"Gray, where exactly are we going?" Su Lin asked in curiosity.

"Well since you said you wanted to seek revenge for the grievances of your family, the only way you can get strong quickly is by finding a special kind of essence." Gray said.

"What's that?" Su Lin asked.

"All things have essence. Living things, like humans, have spiritual essence. We need to find pure glacial essence which can only be found in the most perfect of conditions." Gray explained.

"Then how are we going to find it if it's as rare as you say?" Su Lin asked

"Don't know, but we'll find it eventually." Gray said without a care.

Su Lin looked at him speechlessly and wondered how he can be so nonchalant in this situation.

Predicting Su Lin's reaction, Gray waved his hand, "Don't worry. Even without the glacial essence, there are still ways I can increase your strength. It's just that your innate physic is perfect for you to cultivate the glacial essence." He explained.

"If you don't know where to find it, where are we going?" Su Lin repeated his previous question again.

"Wherever." Gray said simply.

Su Lin rolled his eyes and wondered how this body's mother could leave him with such an irresponsible guardian. A half a day passed before Su Lin remembered something important.

"Gray, you said that you would show me how to unlock my inherited memories." Su Lin reminded him.

"Oh right." Gray agreed and walked off the path and into the forest. He walked a couple feet away from the road before he stopped and took Su Lin off his shoulders. He set him down in front of him and sat down across from him.

"I believe I already told you that inherited memories are the memories from your past relatives. They are linked through your bloodline and only the pure blooded beasts can obtain them," He said,

"Most pure blooded beasts inherit the memories from birth like you. Some, however, have to wait till a certain point in either their age or cultivation level to be able to inherit the memories." Gray explained.

Su Lin nodded his head to show that he understood what Gray was saying.

"Although I was close to your family, there are things that even I don't know about that pertains to your bloodline. This makes it more important that you unlock your inherited memories." Gray said.

"Host, you have unlocked a mission. Find out the guarded secret the host's body contains.

Unfortunately, I cannot tell you the rewards for this mission or the penalties." System said.

"Secrets?" Su Lin repeated with a frown forming on his face.

"Yes Host." System confirmed.

"Okay." Su Lin sighed inwardly.

"Xiao Liang, are you ready? Xiao Liang!"

Su Lin snapped out of his thoughts when he heard the previous body's name being called.

"Yes, I'm ready." Su Lin showed that he was ready and cleared his mind of any distracting thoughts.

"Close your eyes." Gray commanded.

Su Lin complied and closed his eyes. When darkness greeted him, he felt a palm on his head. A moment later, it felt like a needle was being pushed into a point in the middle of his forehead. His head felt like it was ripping apart. A splitting pain, travelled through his body and he felt like he was going to pass out.

"Hang on. It's almost done." Through his pain, Su Lin heard Gray encouraging him to hold on.

Though in reality, not even 5 minutes had passed, to Su Lin, it felt like it had been hours. He was on the edge of consciousness before Su Lin felt the pain disappear completely.

Before Su Lin fainted, he heard Gray saying, "See, that wasn't so bad."

Su Lin woke up groggily and didn't feel like moving an inch of his body. He felt physically and mentally exhausted and closed his eyes again, intending to take a nap.

"Don't go back to sleep Xiao Liang."

Su Lin heard a deep voice whisper in his ear with a breath of hot air. He once again opened his eyes and saw Gray face to face with him with a slight smirk. Su Lin slowly rose a paw and slashed at his face.

Gray dodged with a full smile on his face. "Don't be mad little fox. I really didn't know the pain would feel that bad to you."

Su Lin ignored him and slowly stood up on his four paws. He stretched them out one by one to loosen up his taunt limbs.

"How do you feel?" Gray asked.

Su Lin checked his body and found that nothing seemed to be wrong. It was as if the pain he felt was all just in his imagination.

"How long was I out?" He asked when he saw that the sun was setting.

"About the whole day." Gray said as he gathered up wood and put them into a pile. He snapped his finger and a flame appeared on the pile of wood.

"Can you see the memories?" Gray asked.

Su Lin closed his eyes and looked around in his head. He searched through his memories before he found a bunch of unfamiliar ones. He looked through them a few time but felt like some were missing.

"I found them," Su Lin said, "But I feel that something is missing."

"You remember how I said that some beasts can only acquire their inherited memories after a certain limitation is met. It seems that for you, more memories will be unlocked the stronger you get." Gray explained.

Su Lin hummed in understanding and stared at the fire in quiet contemplation.
