207 chapter 8

On top of the tallest building within settlement A, a group of men was stationed with their rifles and bullets, waiting.

"Oh~ look like there's an idiot who fell for the trap." one of them who was peering through a binocular commented as he saw an explosion from the other side of the town.

"Seriously? There's someone who's dumb enough to trigger that trap?" another added.

"Who knows- but it seems like the plan of luring the swarm over has been set into motion." the one with the binocular focused his sight on the group of people that were currently fleeing the swarm of lickers that was swarming for their flesh.

"What a surprise! One of them can actually control the Cerberus's pack…" the man with the binocular continued and surprised his team.

"Say that again? Who controls the Cerberus's pack?" a man with a long sniper rifle perked his head up and asked him.

"Look for yourself, they're at two o'clock, straight ahead." the binocular man pointed out to the sniper who quickly set up his sniper rifle and peered through the scope at that direction.

"I see them...quite interesting, so Thirteen also had mutants under them as well… one that can control monster such as the Cerberus's at that…" the sniper man commented.

"Should I take him out? He could be an unstable element to our plans." he added.

"Yeah, just take him out- make it clean." the binocular man gave him the green signal.

"I'll do my best…" the sniper grinned before pulling out a red-stained bullet from his inner pocket and loaded his sniper rifle to the surprise of everyone there.

"What are you using that one for? Isn't that a bit of an overkill? To use that on a human target." the binocular man sweated heavily as he saw that bullet.

"I normally only used this to kill Disaster class type monster, however, I'm going to make an exception for that today, just because I had a feeling that this one is hard to kill." the sniper commented as he loaded the bullet and took aim at Leonard who was commanding the Cerberus's- to which he assumes to be the mutant.

"Captain, what are disaster class monster? Aren't all monster the same?" a young rookie asked the man with the binocular.

"No kid, since doom days began shit had gone VERY wrong, it was even worse that there's idiot out there who thought that it would be a good idea to drop nuke to further escalated the mess- the monster classification are divided into five level, Normal Monster- the one you see every day out in the wild, like the Cerberus down there- not much of a threat and can be solve with a simple handgun, the next is the Variant, they're on the level of the lickers and the Alpha Cerberus's… harder to kill- going against that thing with a simple handgun is just asking to be turned into food- but nonetheless, can be solved with guns… the next one is a true pain in the ass though...the "Disaster Class" you can't really kill these things with normal weapon and ammunition, the virus has evolved those creatures to the point where normal bullet would just bounce off their hide...you need either need a mutant human to fight those things- either that or specialized weapons such as that sniper and the bullet…" the captain pointed out as he pulled a cigarette from his pocket and put it into his mouth.

"What's above the disaster class, captain? You said there are five level of classification." the rookie asked the man- who inhaled a lungful of tobacco before letting it out in a long stream of smoke.

"Above the disaster, you have the Calamity class monster… those things- you probably need heavy artillery to kill, emphasis on the word probably… going against one of those things is just pure suicidal, even if you're a mutant." the captain explained.

"Don't even ask about the fifth class, even I don't know much about them, but rumor said that a fifth class appeared and caused the world to turned into a radioactive wasteland." he continued.

"If you want to know more, work your way up into the ranks, the society will naturally let you delve into more of the knowledge." he quickly finished the cigarette and tossed it down the building to the concrete ground below.

"You locked onto the mutant yet?" the captain asked the sniper.

"Yes sir...I have him locked on...annnndddd- bang."

*BANG! The bullet exploded from the sniper rifle and created a sonic boom as it left the barrel and cut through the air and heading straight for Leonard.

"What?!" the sniper roared as he witnessed the scene after the bullet left the barrel and exclaimed in pure shock.

"What happen?" the captain asked.

"I miss- no, he fucking dodged that shot?!" the sniper shouted in surprise, being able to dodge a bullet that traveled at five times the speed of sound and only came out with a scratch was enough to give anyone a surprise, it's an impossible feat even comparing to mutated human who was lucky enough to have a speed boost or that of reflex.

"Impossible?! Aren't you a mutated human who had shooting instinct?!" the captain exclaimed in shock as he received the new.

"Oy oy! Leonard are you alright?! What the hell was that?!" Ryuji cried out seeing Leonard bloody cheek which he attempts to cover up with his own palm.

"Nothing, it's just a scratch, I've been through worse- we need to GET off the street now, there's enemy, that sniper bullet was no joke… I swear if it was half a second later my head would have been blown up like a watermelon." his face was twitching as he gazed at the tallest building that was at least six miles away and narrowed his eyes before ordering the Cerberus's to carry them out from sight.

"We need to take care of these fuckers who's been swarming us before we can worry about the hidden enemy- and Roger, I expect to hear about this in full detail later," he shouted at the bearded man before pulling out an Energized Magic Crystal and tossed it much to the confusion of Roger and his group until the item suddenly exploded into an infernal that devoured any Lickers who were unfortunate enough to be close to the proximity of the blast, it is either being turned to ashes or shredded into bit by the force of the explosion.

"I wasn't planning on using this just yet- but I have no choice, damn I didn't think that it's possible for a mortal made weapons to be able to injure me." Leonard cursed as the Cerberus's pack dived into an alley to which they began to zigzag through corner after corner, to where they found a small square of clearing where they stopped and Leonard jumped down from Nugget and let out a small breather.

"You have some people who're after your blood or something? Roger?" he asked the bearded man who face was full of conflict.

"I do have enemy- but they're never THAT extreme, people know the important of what I do so they would never do something that stupid, killing me and my team here would ruin a perfectly functioning cog in society!" Roger answered back.

"...wait...I think I had a clue of who's the hidden enemy…" Roger suddenly remembered something.

"What is it? Who the hell is that?" Leonard narrowed his eyes as he listening intensively as he was certain in a really bad mood, he wanted to make that person who shot the bullet and scratched his perfectly beautiful face to pay- and of course he was interested in their stuff as well, anything that manages to harm someone who stepped above the realm of "mortal" could be considered a treasure.

"I think we should try to treat that wound on your face first Leonard, we don't want it to get infected- else it won't be pretty," Ryuji suggested as he pulled out a handkerchief from his pocket and apply pressure on the bleeding cut on Leonard's face.

Jeanne who was watching Ryuji slightly blushed as she saw his caring face toward treating Leonard "wound", her heart was beating rapidly as she paid close attention to Ryuji.

"What the hell is wrong with me? Why am I flustering when I saw his face just a moment ago? This is so unlike me!" she thoughted.
