106 chapter 7

"Damn that hurt! Why am I the only one that felt the pain when all the other players don't feel any at all! That's not fair!" Leonard curses as he struggles to get up from the ground.

[Do not complain, the system provided you with services that are otherwise impossible for other players of the game Sword Art Online to get their hands on, just a little bit of pain is not that much of a price to pay.] the system suddenly informed him through a popup.

"Leonard! Are you alright?" Kirito quickly rushed over to Leonard side trying to help him get off the ground after being hit by the wolf.

"Yeah, I'm alright, but what are you doing here?" Leonard asked the teenager in a confused tone of voice, he thought that this guy would be at the inn sleeping at this hours.

"I was out looking for you of course!" Kirito shouted at him.

"And what the hell are you thinking coming all the way out here?! Don't you know that this area is dangerous? Didn't I already warned you about some of the more dangerous spots that you- a new player should absolutely be avoiding like the plague?!" he added.

"Alright I get it, calm down man, I'm still alive and kicking you know- but I think that we should be focusing our attention on that thing right there...it doesn't seem happy now that you joined in the fun," Leonard told Kirito while pointing his finger at the enraged wolf.

"Yeah, you're right." Kirito quickly pulled out his sword.

"It now turned into a real mid floor boss…" Kirito warned Leonard.

"I can see that…so...how are we going to kill it? I have a hard time believing two freshbies that just got out of the town of beginning could take on something such as a mid-level boss."

Leonard said in a sarcastic tone of voice, trying to lighten up the tension that was in the area.

"I've seen how you fight, we can switch while fighting it." Kirito suggested.

"Switching?" Leonard questioned him.

"Yeah, like this!" Kirito being the Jesus-kun that he is, quickly dashed toward the wolf with a sword in hand and activating his skill, of course seeing that Kirito was charging at it, the wolf also attacked him with a headbutt.

However, Kirito manages to block the attack with his sword and temporarily interrupted the wolf and leave a wide opening for an attack to pass through.

"Switch!" Kirito shouted out to Leonard, whom already was on his way with a skill ready.

"Negative- BURST!" Leonard swung his sword in an uppercutting motion and slashed the creature, the sword blade exploded upon contact with the wolf fur and blasted it backward by a few meters.

"I see...so that's a switch, it's simple- yet effective for these type of opponent," Leonard commented on Kirito strategy.

"True, one person rushing in- blocking an attack and create an opening for the person behind him or her to attack," Kirito told him as he turned his attention to the wolf current HP, of which was close to having it first HP bar taken out.

"Let go for another one." noticing that Leonard skill had done quite a bit of damage to the mid floor boss monster, Kirito suggest that they go for another hit just like that one.

"Alright! Let do it again!" Leonard shouted and charged toward the wolf.

*Howl~! The creature howled and this time instead of using its head for another headbutt attack, it used its fangs and claws in an attempt to draw blood from Leonard.

Seeing that the wolf goes for a head-on frontal attack just like it did for Kirito, Leonard couldn't be any happier.

"I was hoping that you go and use another attack just like that!" Leonard now had a sadistic grin on his face once more.

"Negative-BURST!" he quickly brought his sword down onto the wolf head, and once more the blade exploded in another purple light explosion which made the creature lying flat on the ground.

Kirito used the opening that Leonard had made and ran to the side of the wolf and stab it in between the rib cage with one of his sword skill.

*Howl~!!!! The wolf howled out in agony as the sword impaled inside of its body.

It then quickly turns its head around to face Kirito while showing it sharp white teeth at him and ignored Leonard.

"Nice...doggy." Kirito quickly lets go of his sword and slowly walked backward.

"Grrrrr- *howl!" the wolf growled at him- however just before it could launch an attack at Kirito, Leonard used the skill [Negative- Burst] again to knock it back down into the ground, which took another chunk of its HP.

The wolf glared at Leonard with it eyes filled with bloodlust.

"Stay down!" however Leonard was having none of it and once again brought down another sword strike onto the creature skull and exploded, forcing its head to crash into the ground once more with a loud bang.

The wolf eyes rolled white and it exploded into a million tiny data fragment before completely disappeared.

Soon after the boss goes down, all the other small fries quickly ran off into the darkness, leaving both Kirito and Leonard alone.

"So...what did you get?" Kirito went to Leonard and asked him after he picks up his sword which lay peacefully on the grasses.

"Hold on, let me check- since it's a mid-level boss, it's only fair that it should drop some useful stuff…" Leonard quickly pulled up his inventory, which got Kirito attention.

"Why is his user interface look so different from my own." Kirito thought.

"Found it!" Leonard quickly pulled out one of the items that were dropped by the wolf.

What he pulled out first was a pair of boots.

"What is it?" Kirito asked.

"Wolf Hide Boot, an item that increases one's movement speed and reduces the noise that they created while using the sneaking skill...nothing too special," Leonard told Kirito, who now had both of his eyes fixated on the boots.

"You want it?" noticing Kirito eyes, Leonard couldn't help but asked the teenager.

To which he quickly nodded his head repeatedly.

Seeing Kirito answer, Leonard handed him the pair of boots, to which he immediately put on.

The boots itself was brown in color, and they're seen to be nothing too noticeable coming off of it, at most people would think of it as a somewhat fancy pair of dark brown boots.

"So what else you got?" Kirito asked him again.

"Got roughly around a thousand Col and some wolf hides, that's about it...maybe I should find myself an armorer to make me some armors," he told Kirito.

After which the both of them quickly headed back into the village to get some rest and ready themselves for another day of hard work grinding for more experiences and money.
