185 chapter 38

The whole world was in silent, watching the scene that was playing out right before their eyes, Leonard, destroyed his weapon- a presumed to be powerful magic artifact that slayed a legendary undead creature from the realm of the dead.

Into a round crystal core that's acting like a heart- constantly pulsing.

"W-what are you planning to do?!" the apprentices watched Leonard while having the feeling of constant dread.

"Didn't you listen? I just said, I will turn him into a Lich, an undead- I want that so call research and knowledge you know, it's not every day that I can dig out some information from a rank eight- borderline rank nine dark mages." he glanced at the group of pitiful apprentices.

"We shall not allow you to defile the body and soul of our beloved teacher!" one of the brave apprentices roared at him with his eyes burning red and prepare to attack him with a spell.

"Tyrant, just apprehend him- do what you want, just make sure he doesn't die." Leonard ordered Tyrant who was standing motionless, watching the drama.

The moment the order was given, Tyrant dash and tackled the brash apprentice to the ground, American football style of course, for some reason, Leonard found the scene to be comical, it reminded him about all of those American football show they had on Television.

Of course he did not waste time admiring the scene, he turned his gaze toward the corpse of the old Necromancer who died a "tragic" death.

"Such a shame for you to die here, you had already fulfilled your obligation to the Free City State in life, but shunned by them near the moment of your demised- but alas, I am not that cruel to let you suffer such "unjust"- rise! Rise and serve me in undeath!" Leonard pushed the charged and energized black core that was formerly the sword, Vengeance toward the body of the old man and embedded it in place of where his heart used to be.

The moment Leonard did that, the sky turned dark and cold wind began to kicked up and blew across the entire plain, bringing the temperature down by a few degree- making it noticeably a lot colder.

After Leonard embedded the crystal into the old man, he began to channeled in negative energy into his corpse until his reserve was depleted- it was then that he pulled out many more dark magic crystal from his inventory to fill that role, the amount of resources that he used for this undead raising operation is enough to create another legion of ten thousand of undead if not more, as more negative energy was being pumped into the core, it began to pulse faster and faster and beat like that of heart as it greedily devoured the negative energy that was feeding into it by Leonard.

The body began to enshrouded in a dark mist and levitated into the air.

"No! Stop! Don't do it!" the apprentices shouted loudly as they cried and wailed while Tyrant was sitting on top of a few of them and pressed them down onto the ground, immobilizing them in the process and preventing them from struggling.

"Shut it, you should all be happy that your teacher will soon be revived… hopefully with all his memories still intact of course...this is the first time that I tried something this crazy, creating a lich through raising the body of a power mage who had recently died…" Leonard ordered them sternly but he spoke the last part of in a low voice.

The black mist swirled violently around the corpse, forming a giant sphere of shadowy purple mist that raged and screamed, sending chill down the spine of any who heard it.

"Oh ho ho ho! This is going to be beautiful~" Leonard stood below and admired his handy work that has yet to complete- however it was close to completion.

It took roughly a full minute before Leonard spot something, moving unnaturally from within the dark sphere of mist, it was a skeletal hand without skin or muscle on it, bone white- literally.

*shhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! The mist exploded and dispersed.

Leaving a skeleton in a dark robe with chains floating around it body gently floating down from above and landed softly onto the ground.

It eyes glowed fiercely in a shade of azure and bone chilling mist and air radiating off of the "creature" body, freezing the air itself and formed ice on the ground he it touched.

"Welcome back to realm of the living...erm...you remember me right?" Leonard moved closer and inspected his latest creation, which he named the "Lich"

"I... do remember ...you are the young lad that defeated me during my last moment of life...you are... Pater Tuus- no, it is not your name… you are... Leonard... Welser…" the Lich voice was blood curdling cold, chilling in fact, the sound from of the cold and dark winter.

"Oh~ so the already know who I am the moment the bond of master and servant was form huh? So are you still holding that grudge- I mean, I did somewhat...erm...accidentally killed you after all…" Leonard smiled awkwardly as he inspected the Lich further.

"No, I do not blame you for my own death, it is just a form of collateral damage from war, in fact- I should thanked you instead, with my death, I am freed from the service of the Republic Shadow Council...I no longer have any obligation toward those fools, I now instead render my services toward one who is more worthy… that is you, you have proven yourself to be my superior by reviving me and granting me this form… the form of a legendary lich of old, an immortal." the skeleton bowed slightly toward Leonard.

"You are a strange one, did the process of becoming an undead somehow, changed your temperament?" Leonard asked him.

"No, I've always been like this in my younger day, when I was free… I only become a bit mental when I joined the Shadow Council." the Lich waved his hand casually and shrugged it off before turning to his apprentices who stared at him with eyes filled shock and astonishment.

"What's with that look? You want some extra beating or something?" the former old Necromancer- now a lich asked his apprentices who were stupefied by his current form.

"T-teacher...is that...still you?" the brave apprentice who previously wanted to fight with Leonard but unfortunately was tackled down by Tyrant asked in a stuttering voice as he looked at his former teacher.

"Oh yes, I am still the same as before- albeit only a bit weaker and look somewhat...strange I would say...but I am still who I am, the great Necromancer Naz'rith." the lich declared his name, which was Naz'rith.

"I think you should change it from Necromancer to Lich, since you...erm- whatever, just go with whatever you want, you still have that hundred years worth of research and knowledge on you right?" Leonard quickly changed topic and asked about the prize that was lost to him previously.

"Yes! I still have in, it was just a minor setback previously that I forgotten to take it out before you killed that undead summoned creature and dragged me down to the realm of the dead with it destruction… note to self, never sign a life and death contract with anything...EVER." Naz'rith face-palmed himself with his bony hand.
