57 chapter 33

Days went by since the incident where Leonard has set Lee up to spill the little secret about Clementine parents, and the weird disappearances of the zombies in the area.

Right now Leonard was spending his afternoon sitting on top of the RV with a rifle in hand doing the guard duty.

Most of the time there was nothing out there, other than a few zombies roaming by and occasionally he saw a few humans lurking in the thickets however once he lay eyes on them they quickly scattered.

"Bandits…"Leonard spat out.

Sometimes those scumbags got bold enough that they shot a few arrows onto the motel wall, turning into somewhat like a pincushion.

Of course once in a while when Conner was on RV duty, he would shot a few of them down as a warning to the rest- but damn they keep on coming.

"System, give me my status report." he gave a mental command.

Leonard looked at his stats out of boredom, since he arrived in this world, the only stats that seen to changed so far were his magic, he has been wondering on how to increase his physical attribute without the need of using one of the more "Questionable" alchemical potions that he has gotten from memory crystal back then.

"System, tell me- how long do I, no we have left before we can return to the other world?" he asked with his mind.

[Question cannot be answered- however, the system shall send this question to the higher being above] that was the only thing that the system replied to him.

"Bullshit!" he wanted to scream out, however, he chose not to because from beyond the wall, Leonard could see that Lee and Kenny have got back from their little trip to town and was now currently waving at him.

The two of them passed by a section of the wall that was pinned by arrows and went inside.

"Running into some more of 'em lurking out there kid?" Kenny asked.

"The same as always Kenny, they just don't learn," Leonard replied.

"I'll bet," he nodded.

"So what you got out there?" Leonard asked the two of them.

"Nothing much, except for a few medicines here and there, we'll be handing it to Lilly now," Lee replied and they both left to find Lilly.

Leonard then called Ben over.

"Hey dude, take over my post for a bit," he told the teen and handed him his rifle.

Ben just look at him but didn't say anything and quietly climb up the RV to take his post.

Leonard then went to look for Clementine who was doing some drawing.

"Clementine...I have something very important that I wanted to ask you." he went closer to her.

"What is it Leonard?" she asked out of curiosity.

"If….If I give you an option to leave this world to go to another where the dead, actually stayed dead and not coming back to seek the living, would you actually come with me?" he asked her.

"You mean to where you're from?" she asked.

Leonard nodded.

"What about everyone else...will they be coming along with us?" she asked.

"That's hard to say Clem….I could at least guarantee you a spot...for Lee and the other...well I don't know…" he told her honestly.

He too, however, questioned...how many people can I actually bring with me outside of this world.

Clementine looks sad.

"I- I just don't know Leonard...I don't really want to be separated from Lee..." she told him.

"God damn it!" Leonard screamed deep down inside his heart.

"Is it even possible to bring more than one outside of this world?" he asked the system.

[The maximum capacity is one] the system replied to him.

"Sorry Clementine, I just got the news that there can only be one seat available," he replied in a sad tone.

"System come on, can I at least create negotiation to add one more spot?" Leonard begged the system through his mental command.

[...] the system stayed silent.

"Please…?" he asked again.

[Relaying request to higher being...please wait….] the wait was only a few seconds.

[Request has been sent, your case will be reviewed as soon as possible.]

Leonard then looks at Clementine.

"Good new Clem...I already requested a negotiation for an extra spot...however don't count on it too much though…" he whispered into her ear.

"Really? You mean Lee can come with you?" she asked.

"I just don't know….possibly...we just have to see...Clem."

Leonard then leaves the little girl to her drawing and went back to his room for the evening.

When he got there he immediately jumped onto his bed.

"Gahhh!!! So frustrating…." he screamed with his face stuck into the pillow, muffling the sound.

He then turned and closed his eyes.

Everything went into darkness.

When he opened his eyes once again, he was no longer within his room in the motel, he has somehow been transported to a world that was completely white, blank, and nothing after he closed his eyes.

"Wait...what the fuck just happen?" he questioned.

"Greeting mortal." an androgynous voice then sounded out from behind him.

"Who's there!" out of reflexes Leonard immediately turned to the voice.

There he discovered a glowing ball of light.

"Allow me to introduce myself to you, mortal. I am your system manager." the ball of light introduced.

"Why have you brought me here?" Leonard asked it.

"I'm the one who is going to be reviewing through your cases." the ball of light answered.
