82 chapter 22

After being asked to drop a bit of her blood into the contract, Luminous got suspicious and was skeptical about the whole ordeal.

"Just drop a bit of blood so we can get this over with," Leonard told her.

"Can I at least have a look at the contract?" She requested.

"Nope, you do not have any rights to ask that from me, since you are- after all my prisoner," Leonard told the woman.

"...fine…" within the back of her head, she had a bad feeling about this whole thing, she felt that she was about to sign off her life into the hand of the devil himself.

"But can you at least free my hands first? It's not like I can escape since you have this whole place surrounded," she told him.

Leonard happily obliged and removed the chain on her hand and then tossed her the knife, Luminous caught the dagger and look at it for a bit, she then cut her finger and dripped a drop of blood on to the scroll.

Instantly after she dropped the blood into the scroll, the scroll caught on fire and burned in a bright blue flame, and a small black tattoo materializes on the skin of her hand.

[Contract has now taken into full effect: please note, player, can only keep the maximum of 5 contracts of slavery active.] the system then sent him the message.

At the same time within the large tent where all the commanding officers of the Evergreen army held their meeting, everyone had gathered there today.

The mood was once more, quite depressing and tense.

"Is the new reliable?" Vandal asked.

"My lord, it is indeed reliable, our scout has spotted another army of at least 10,000 heading our way, and among them were more of those rock throwing machines," Ralph answered him.

"What the hell did the Church offer to the Rosen that would make them so hellbent on invading our country?!" Vandal curses.

"How much time do we have left until they arrived?" Vandal then added.

"By their speed, I would say that roughly a week, due to the machines that they brought along, and the number of supplies they have to transport," Ralph answered.

"Should we request more troops, my lord?" one of the officers asked.

"What choice do we have? Even with the undead army joining our side, we only amounted roughly 7,000, also not to mention that the enemy brought along more of those trebuchets." Vandal answered the man.

"Immediately send out a letter to my father, ask him to send more personnel in the next reinforcement." Vandal ordered.

The officer nodded, and immediately scribbled down Vandal words into a letter and sealed with wax, next he rushed out to find the courier and handed it to him.

Outside, Leonard saw a high ranking officer in the camp rushing to hand the letter to a courier personally, he got curious.

"What happen?" he asked

"It's you! Lord Leonard! This is an important military matter, my lord, please ask Lord Vandal for further details, I'm not sure if I could tell you here." the officer informed him.

"Alright, I'll stop bothering you now, please go on with your duty." Leonard saluted the man and then headed to the big tent to find Vandal, tagging along with him was Luminous.

Inside the tent, Leonard walked into the tent to find the atmosphere to be quite depressing.

"What happens? Did the Rosen kingdom decide to send in more troop to start another invasion?" Leonard asked them with a casual tone.

They just look at him.

"....did I got it right?" Leonard asked.

"Indeed, young master Leonard….they have decided to send another 10,000 and a few more of those "Trebuchet" that you mentioned," Ralph told him.

Leonard raised an eyebrow when he heard Ralph answer, he then looks back at Luminous- who was standing quietly behind him.

"You know something, Luminous?" he asked her.

After Leonard raised a question at a mysterious woman in black behind him, all their attention went to her.

"Who is she, Leonard?" Vandal asked out of curiosity.

Leonard turned at him- and then back to Luminous.

"Why don't you introduce yourself to everyone here, Luminous," Leonard ordered her.

"Hello everyone, my name is Luminous, formerly an inquisitor of the Holy Church, and tasked to assassinate each and every one of you." she introduced herself.

"PFFFFFFFFTTTTT"

One of the officers who was having a drink of water couldn't help but spit it all out due to the shock he had received.

"Assassin!! Lord Leonard, you actually brought an assassin from the Holy Church to this important meeting?!" he yelled

"Oh calm down will you? She had a change of heart now- since the introduction is over, Luminous, meet the one who was formerly tasked to kill, and officers and commander of Evergreen army, meet your Ex- soon to be killer, done...now explain the situation Luminous," he told her.

"...well, the Church ordered me to "remove" you to make sure that you're not obstructing the Rosen kingdom invasion, I could only guess that they thought with me on the job, your death is guaranteed and so they told the Rosen to send in their army…" Luminous informed them.

"How are they so sure that you're going to definitely kill us?" Vandal asks her.

"I'm a rank seventh warrior...specialized in assassination," she answered him.

Immediately all of the people jaws dropped wide open.

"S-s-seventh…" they all then look at Leonard with eyes full of shock and astonishment.

"Don't look at me like that, a seventh rank may be strong, however against being bounded by magic and jump by literally hundreds of undeads, I doubt anyone could escape," Leonard informed them.

After he finishes saying those words, something happened, a knight rushed into the tent with more a report.

"Commander! Good news! His grace the duke has sent over a large batch of weapons to support us and finally it has arrived and waiting outside." the knight reported.

"What kind of weapon?" Vandal asked.

"A special type of bow weapon my lord, this is it." the knight then pulled out the weapon from the cloth and showed all of them.

"Huh?!" Leonard who laid eyes on the weapon was quite surprised.

"You know of this weapon, Leonard?" Vandal asked him.

"Yeah, this is a mechanical bow- called a crossbow, of which you loaded a bolt and shoot, it has quite a large range and high penetrating power as well, it's also easy to use, not much training is required," Leonard informed Vandal- then he suddenly had a bright idea.

"...Vandal...you mind lending me a few hundred of these crossbows and its ammunition? I have a plan...also...prepare some flammable liquid as well." Leonard grinned evilly.
