76 chapter 16: Intermission

Within the capital of the Holy kingdom Saint Haven city, ruled by a religious organization, The Holy Church, an organization that stood as the faith of mankind to many inhabitants (mostly human) of the world.

(A/N yes yes, the name is so unoriginal, I can't come up with a better name.)

Inside a secret meeting room of the largest cathedral of the city.

A group of old men in white robe were sitting around a large round marble table.

These people are the important people of the church organization, in charge of making important decisions.

"How is the Rosen kingdom progress in invading the Evergreen kingdom? Answer me...Cardinal William" one of the old man spoke up in an aged dry voice, this old man is the current Pope of the Holy Church, the ruler of the Holy Kingdom.

"Your holiness, the invasion has been somewhat stagnated for some time now, the Evergreen kingdom is seen to have put up quite a bit of resistance, even if their army is outnumbered." the man name William answered the Pope in a respectful tone.

"Did you send in the "stone punisher" to help the Rosen kingdom?" the Pope asked as one of his eyebrow raised.

"I already sent the "stone punisher" in secret to help the Rosen Kingdom, your holiness," William replied.

"Then what took so long? Shouldn't they be crushed to death by now?" the pope asked in a calm voice.

"We did not expect the Evergreen kingdom army to actually take the initiative to an attack, most of the "stone punisher." are destroyed your holiness." he then reported.

"What?....they manage to resist the "Stone punisher"?" the pope asked again.

"Yes your holiness, that is what our spy reported." the Cardinal answered.

"Your holiness, please forgive me for asking, is there a reason why we have to do this in the shadow? Can't we just declared the royal family and the other nobles of as heretic and send in the Demon Hunter Corp to finish them off and claim their land?" another old man in white then added.

"You make it sound really easy, Cardinal Vincent, do you think that they didn't hide any trump card up their sleeve? And don't forget our enemy that hid inside this continent as well...if we were to make a move, I can guarantee you that they will also make a move to try and screw us over." Cardinal William told him.

"Then what are we supposed to do? The Rosen kingdom couldn't get the job done, and we can't send out our real forces in fear of the enemy hidden in the shadow!" Cardinal Vincent shouted.

"I suggest that we send out one of the Inquisitor to kill off the important one." The pope told all the cardinals who were present, and immediately the whole room went into an uproar.

"Your holiness! you shouldn't casually send an inquisitor out for such a minor errand!" Cardinal Vincent tries to persuade the pope.

"The inquisitor can get the job done quickly, and who said that it's just a minor errand? You mean to say that magic crystal mine hidden within the border of the Evergreen kingdom is a minor thing? I agree with his holiness on this one." William raised his hand in agreement.

The other cardinals just looked at one another, then they too raised their hand.

"I agree…." "same goes for me…" one said after another.

The pope then nodded.

"Since we all agreed on this, we shall send an inquisitor out to...remove these obstacles." the old man had a bright and warm smile on his face.

In one of the basement room of the cathedral, dimly lighted by a brazier which has been placed in the middle of the room.

There stood two figure, one is an old man in a white robe, while the other is a slim figure in a dark black cloak.

The old man was none other than Cardinal William.

"Inquisitor Luminous, the pope has given his decree, you are to be heading to the Evergreen kingdom and eliminate the one that was halted the path of the Rosen kingdom." William gave the decree in a stern voice to the slim figure in a black cloak.

The figure nodded and then headed off.

In the town of Berlin, the mayor estate medical ward.

"What kind of evil sorcery is this?!" a bald old man in a white robe shouted as he looks at Richer.

He was the priest that was called over by the mayor from the church to come over and help Richer.

"*Cough *cough….heal...me…" Richer spoked as he tried to catch his breath.

The man looks like he could die at any moment, his skin was deathly pale, his eyes had sunken, and he was sweating profusely.

The priest looked at Richer and then at the mayor.

"He wasn't like that a few days before...but the symptom got worsen...do you think you can heal him?" the mayor asked the priest.

"I will try my best." the priest replied to the mayor and then headed over to Richer to have a look, he held up Richer hand and then began casting a spell.

"Light heal" he called out the spell name, the priest's hand began to glow brightly for a moment before it dimmed down and Richer expression changed for the better, his paled expression and sunken eyes slowly disappeared, and his breathing is no longer ragged.

"How are you feeling now?" the priest asked

"...that feels so good….I'm feeling great now...but tired...I think I need some rest." Richer told the old priest.

The old man nodded and then took off along with the mayor outside of the medical ward.

"...Mr.mayor, I need you to be honest with me...who's the one that responsible for the man sickness?" the old priest questioned him.

"Is the situation really that bad? That person identity is quite...sensitive." the mayor told him.

"Alright, it's fine if you don't want to talk about it, however- just a head up, the curse isn't designed for killing, it's more leaning toward draining the life energy of the target, weakening them, the person who designed that curse is quite a competent mage if I had to say so myself, I'm just giving you the advice to try not pissing that person off any further...that curse could even affect a sixth stage warrior, let alone a mere fourth stage like that man in there." the priest told him.
