70 chapter 10

After Leonard little conflict with the son of the mayor of the town, Leonard, and the girls, along with Tyrant went back the Inn to get some rest and set off to the northern border the next day.

When morning came and everyone, including Leonard, woke up and prepared themselves for travel once more, they discovered that someone was waiting outside of the inn for them.

It was an old man in a butler suit.

"Ah, you must be young master Leonard, yes?" the old butler asked.

"Yes, that is me, how may I help you," Leonard confirmed his identity and asked the old man.

"If that is the case, then please accept this gift as an apology for yesterday incident that was caused by young master Charl." the old butler then pointed at a carriage that was stationed behind him.

"A carriage?" Leonard questioned.

"Yes, the mayor has discovered that you only passing through the town by horses, and he has ordered me to deliver you this carriage," he told Leonard.

"Please tell the mayor that he had my thanks," Leonard told the old man- which then bowed and returned back to the mayor estate.

"Wow, we are riding a carriage?" Clementine shine shined brightly as she lay eyes on the carriage that was gifted to them.

"Yes Clem, look like you won't have to suffer from a saddle sore like yesterday," Ryan whispered into the little girl ear.

"We have a carriage...but who's going to be the coach?" Mavis asked.

Now everyone eyes were on Leonard, they were right, Leonard received a carriage, however, he does not have any experience driving one.

It took the Leonard a while before he could find someone who could drive the carriage for them to the northern border, for a fee.

After that little delay, they can now head toward the northern border.

Of course, Leonard did not forget about the group of zombies that he ordered to stay on the opposite end of town, he picked them all up along the way, now they and Tyrant were marching right behind the carriage as they headed north.

The journey north was, unexpectedly quite peaceful- or so Leonard though.

"Young master, and misses, we have trouble coming toward us." the coachman whom Leonard hired to drive their carriage knocked on the window and called for Leonard and the girls that were inside.

"Trouble? What kind of trouble?" Leonard asked curiously.

"It's the knights, sir." the coachman replied.

"Knight? Could be it's dad and his cavalry?" Leonard thought.

Leonard immediately peered through the window to have a look at the knights that was stationed further down the road in front of them.

However, when he saw the knights, Leonard got really confused.

"Wait….those armor….they isn't the standard armors that the Evergreen kingdom are equipped with?! And that banner!" Leonard narrowed his eyes as he saw the knights.

"What is it, Leonard? You know those knights?" Ryan asked him.

Leonard nodded with a serious expression.

"If I'm not wrong, those guys should be the famous Rosen kingdom heavy cavalry," Leonard responded to her.

Ryan gasp as she heard his reply.

"What are they doing within our border?!" she asked.

"I do not know, however, I doubt that it's anything good," Leonard replied.

"Cicero, stay as far away from those guy as possible until further notice, we do not want to attract their attention on to us," Leonard told his coachman.

"Yes sir." the man nodded repeatedly, they once again continued on their journey toward the north, however, it took longer than usual because they have to keep their distance from the Rosen knights until they decided to follow another route.

It was then that Leonard trip becomes much smoother.

Since they no longer have to worry about the enemy noticing them, they can quickly travel at their usual pace.

"I wonder what those knights from the Rosen kingdom are up to, don't you Leonard?" Ryan questioned Leonard who was sitting across from her.

"I have a lot question too Ryan, however, we have to quickly make our way to the northern garrison city quickly and informed my dad," Leonard told her, then knocked on the window.

"Cicero, pick up the pace quickly, if possible we need to be at the northern garrison city by nightfall," he informed the coachman.

"Aye sir, I'll step right on it." the coachman obeyed and quickly increased the horse's speed and rushed to the northern garrison.

By the time the sun is setting, Leonard could already make out the gate of the northern garrison city in the far distance, just like the previous town they stayed at the night before, this city too has a checkpoint at the gate, however unlike the last town, it has more guards patrolled and stationed there.

Their carriage quickly made it to the gate, it was there that the guard stopped them.

"Halt, identities and what's your business here." one of the guards ordered them.

The voice of this guard was very familiar to Leonard.

"wait...John is that you?" Leonard opened the carriage door and stuck his head out with a confused look on his face.

"Y-y- young master Leonard?!" John stuttered as he saw an all too familiar face.

"Leonard, you know him?" Mavis asked him.

"Yeah, he was training with me on how to use a weapon properly a while back, however, one day he has just vanished, I'm surprised to find out that he was stationed here in the north," Leonard replied.

"Young master, if you don't mind me asking, but what are you doing here?" John asked him.

"It's nothing, we're just having a vacation- oh right my father is here right? I have important information for his ears only, if you don't mind please let us pass." Leonard told the man.

"Oh yes, right away- OPEN THE GATE!" John quickly nodded and turn back and start shouting for the gate to be open so that they could quickly pass.

Also on being extra helpful today, John also decided to volunteer to guide them toward the manor where the duke, Leonard father was staying.
