1 Birth and the First System

Lets get right to it.

Right now, our protagonist is being born.

Although you would expect screaming and shouts like, "Push!" or, "You're doing great, honey," there's nothing like that in this scene.

Thanks to a man with a medicine system working together with a woman that had an engineering system, hospitals have become a notoriously simple place to run.

The doctor present at the birth has never had a delivery go wrong, and the equipment present makes the normally unpleasant process painless, though still a bit weird feeling.

"Well, the kids out. Have you decided on a name for him yet?"

Oh crap, they finished the delivery while I was doing world building.

Uh, the woman is pretty, though nothing crazy like "empire toppling," just pretty good looking.

The man next to her, while quite skinny, could be considered better looking if you only looked at his face, and gave the impression of someone quite intelligent.

The baby isn't crying, but no one in the room is worried about that due to the scanners showing him to be completely healthy, both body and mind, and that situations of calm babies happen from time to time.

"We've decided to name him Kalek." The woman holding the now clean child said with a proud smile on her face.

"That's good. Some people just wait until their child awakens to their system to decide to keep them, so I was a bit worried."

As the doctor said, some children are kept or abandoned based on what system they have, or even if they manage to awaken their system.

With some systems granting some people incredible power in today's world, prideful people who don't consider their children worthy of their last names aren't a strange sight.

"We wanted to raise a child, not a successor. Our work doesn't really need to be inherited," the man said. Clearly they trust this doctor a lot to open up about such personal matters to him.

"Well, I'm glad to hear that. Children with parents who don't love them are heartbreaking sight that's all too common these days."

What a kind man.

Hmm? Our protagonist? We'll get to him in a moment.

"Anyway, we've got some of the newest tech in today, and I was wondering if you would be willing to let us test it on your child. I assure you that it's completely safe."

"What kind of test is it?" The woman planned to say yes, but she wanted to know what kind of device her child would have used on him before agreeing.

"It's a device that allows us to see the rank of the system regardless of if it's been awakened or not yet."

All systems have a rank that can be seen after it has been awakened by checking the status.

The rankings range from F rank to SSS rank.

F rank systems usually only develop one specific and generally useless thing, like a Sudoku Solving System.

SSS rank systems usually cover vague concepts that allow their hosts to become incredibly powerful in one way or another.

One example would be a Karma System.

Being rewarded for good deeds, being aware of the karma value of other people, forcing the universe to punish or reward a person based on their karma, such a system is clearly in a league of its own.

"According to the device, his system is..."

Crap! I'm trying to fill the audience in on how this stuff works, slow down! There is another kind of rank though. That rank is-

"Unranked."

Ahem. Like he said, Unranked.

Unranked systems aren't worse than other systems, but they aren't necessarily better.

An unranked system is more capable of changing or evolving based on how the host uses it.

So it could be a weak system that becomes stronger with the determined training of the host, or it could be a powerful system that becomes weaker since the host doesn't use it properly.

An Unranked system usually becomes ranked after a while, meaning that it now follows the traditional growth of systems, which is to grow one rank at a time into a system following a related concept.

An E ranked Size Analyzing System could become a D ranked Body Analyzing System, and would keep growing in a similar way with enough determination.

Meanwhile, an Unranked Size Analyzing System could become an Unranked Movie Watching System if the host spends less time looking at girls' bodies and more time watching movies.

In other words, an Unranked System has more potential, as well as a higher risk of being squandered.

"Really? I never would have thought we would birth a child with an Unranked system! I can't wait to see what it becomes!" The mother seems to enjoy this development.

"Indeed, not knowing what it will become makes it more exiting!" The father also enjoys this.

Well, at least our protagonist will grow up in a loving home. Though his parents might have a gambling problem...

Oh right, speaking of our protagonist.

When he opened his eyes, everything around him was new and strange, so his eyes never rested long on one thing.

The strange large things around him kept making strange noises. One held him gently and was warm.

One made noises at another, different large thing.

Eventually, he heard a *Ping!* sound and a strange clear flat thing started floating in front of him.

[System initialized.

Congratulations, Host.

You have awakened to the Unranked System Creation System.

You will never receive a ranking as your actions will create new systems, not change the System Creation System.]

Although he didn't know how to speak or read, the meaning of the words were conveyed to him, as though they came from within.

"Ah, it looks like he's just awoken to his system! Maybe he'll start talking in a few months. You never know with a day one Awakened."

Yeah, people who awaken their system on the day of their birth have happened a few times in the past, with some leading to quite strange tales.

Anyway, Kalek didn't really get it, but he did have one thing going through his mind. It isn't in word form, so I'll translate it for you.

'What is that?'

Yes, the newborn is quite curious about his surroundings, and it's not like he has enough experience with thinking to have any other thoughts.

*Ping!*

[Newborn curiosity has created the F rank Curiosity System!]

"Well, you should be discharged tomorrow morning, and fine to work again in a week. Make sure to schedule an appointment for next year. First day Awakened tend to develop differently from regular children."

"Alright. Thanks for the warm reception this last year, Doctor."

"It's no problem. I do this job because I like to, not because I want to be flattered by pretty mothers. Well, I'll see you next year."

The doctor got up from his chair and left after finishing up the conversation.

"What a kind man. I'm glad we had him to help us during this process."

Yeah, the doctor clearly left a good impression on the couple.

Anyway, Kalek has created a Curiosity System, which grants points for being curious, and rewards his curiosity with a higher chance of learning what he's curious about in the near future.

We'll come back when he evolves it to an E rank system.
