17 Symbiosis relations
On a dark, hazy night, the grandpa and granddaughter duo didn't speak to Remy after dealing with him. He observes they are feeling cold because of the windy night.
'Hmm, what a fresh new feeling. My under appetite seems working fine.' he said as he could only feel comfort. Usually during a climate problem like this, even if he is a symbiotic cultivator, he would still feel cold or the heat like mortals do.
However, right now it's different. His second ability ignores or counters status changes and even depression. Never once did he feel bad about himself when he gained this Undead Appetite ability. It can make him feel in a good shape.
He knew that he's supposed to be a bloodthirsty monster and a crazy maniac because of his aura the death and darkness but because of this cheat, he can ignore those things.
When he gained all his memories from the earth when he time traveled, he thought that this ability only makes him ignore poisoning, burn, freeze, etc. That would make his status change.
The bad thing about this is that this is passive. He can only control it once he tried to control it. Right now, his face may not be sad, depressed, or drained, but he is also not happy, not feeling anything, and alienation from everything.
It's like it took his humanity away from him.
All of the sudden, the grandpa looked at him with hesitation, and says, "Remember, this is our oath, don't blame me for your life being put in danger." Then he pointed his hand to the tower, "There, we call it death tower and a lot of symbiotic cultivators perished in that." Then he looked at his granddaughter with a hurried look as they went away swiftly.
Remy is speechless. What did he even do to deserve this? However, considering his type of spiritual symbiosis beast, he can understand. So he just ignored the duo who walk away instantly once they are done with what they are supposed to do.
He also didn't want to entangle with them, for they are peculiar beings in his eyes. They are not attacked by symbiosis beast along the way, which means they are natives with the deep background he didn't want to discover or be entangled with.
'It's one of them.'
Remy said on his mind because he knew what this tower means. This is where he can learn a technique that is mandatory for the tournament in the future in this main plane, to fight for a treasure that everyone wanted to get their hands on.
In front of him is a towering building with a firm-looking mountain in the back, but the tower is full of cracks and looks very fragile. There are windows, but from the outside, one could only see the darkness within it. However, Remy thinks of nothing about it.
'The first floor probably has no danger, and according to what I can remember I have to choose a spirit symbiosis jar.'
Remy thought, so he entered this tower without hesitation.
...
On the other side.
"Grandpa, why'd you let him leave like that? Isn't he strong? He could've helped us!" The little girls said with a disappointed tone.
The grandpa listened. however, his face is still serious, and replies, "He only has two talents, no matter how talented he is, the dangers on the towers cannot be accomplished by a being with limited evolutionary limit. He will be haunted if he cannot communicate to his beast."
"What do you mean, grandpa?" The little girls asked.
"What I'm telling you is that if his beast is still a beast with two auras and a low evolutionary talent, it is impossible to gain sentience.
"In an ecosystem, there must be interactions between the various species for the organisms to survive and continue the circle of life. Every ecosystem has to have these interactions or that ecosystem will not survive. These interactions are called symbioses. There are three types of biotic symbioses: Mutualism, Parasitism, and Commensalism.
"Mutualism is the interaction between two or more organisms where both organisms can benefit from the interaction. An example of mutualism is a Clownfish and a Sea Anemone. The clownfish benefits from the sea anemone by providing shelter from predators by hiding inside of the sea anemone's poisonous arms. The clownfish benefits the sea anemone by consuming parasites that may be on it and providing nutrients from its excrements.
"Parasitism is the interaction between two species where only one benefits from the other organism and the other is harmed in return. The one that benefits from the other organism is called a parasite, while the organism that is being harmed is called a host. Examples of parasitism are Phronima and Salps, a type of zooplanyton. The Phronima is a parasite and the Salps are the hosts.
"In a cultivators era, Parasitism is called systems. They fool their chosen hosts. They are the chosen in all the population in some random mortal universe, then they will get stronger when the time comes. Some hosts are oblivious and they don't where they come from.
"Finally, when their chosen hosts reached their peak of cultivation, the parasite system would take over the body of the host they chose. How could they resist it when they are just chosen mortals? Do they think they are the ones improving? That is impossible.
"Now, there is Commensalism, which is one of the harder types of interactions. Commensalism is when two species interact and one benefits, but the other organism is neither harmed nor benefited. Examples of commensalism are barnacles that grow on whales.
"And the best example for commensalism is a cultivator with a symbiosis beast with low evolutionary talent." The grandpa said flatly.
"But grandpa what it got to do with symbiotic cultivators? Why is a low evolutionary talent is useless?" The little one asked curiously.
The grandpa smiles warmly and replies, "For a spiritual symbiosis beast needed to evolve further from their limit four evolutions, they would need a host to work with.
"They need a mutual relationship where they could gain sentience in the same level of cultivation, which means reaching the terror beast category evolution or further evolution in the same cultivation stage.
"That is when the symbiotic cultivators come in. A symbiotic cultivator needed a spiritual beast to improve their level, a spiritual beast needed a host to improve their category evolution."
"You mean a symbiosis beast couldn't improve their category on their own?" Asked the little girl.
"Yes, that is exactly is the reason. Even if they reached stage fifty with many auras, they will still be canon fodders; Normal beasts categories."
The little girl looked at her grandpa in confusion. Why is her grandpa telling her this? So she asks, "What I'm asking is, what is the reason he will fail in the tower grandpa?"
The grandpa did not reply, he only had a grim expression on his face while looking at the towering tower with a mountain on its back.
