17 Trust

The dagger flew towards Ethan in a bright ray of light.Ethan appeared to be stupefied and shocked by the sudden attack from Doji.The distance between the two was extremely small so Ethan wasn't able to react fast.

But suddenly the dagger's pattern of flight abruptly changed,it's direction was formerly towards Ethan's head but in the next instant it darted towards the space high above Ethan's head.

Just at this moment,a black shadow appeared over Ethan's head,the shadow on seeing the dagger immediately retreated,but the speed of the dagger outreached it.

The dagger stabbed into the shadow.The shadow screeched in pain like a bird,it struggled to fly away but the dagger appeared to have badly injured it.

The shadow struggled for few seconds before it finally descended without live very close to Ethan.

The shadow became visible to Ethan through the light from the burning sticks.The black shadow was precisely a large bird with an extremely long beak that rivalled the length of a sword.

The fluctuation from the dead bird showed that it was a level two Sedron beast.Ethan surprisingly had a neutral expression on his face he wasn't amazed by the sight before him neither was he shocked.

Ethan without warning burst into laughter,Doji stared at the lad dumbfounded even Ravu lazily opened one of its sleepy eyes.

Ethan on seeing this immediately used his hands to cover his mouth to stop himself from bursting into another ring of laughter.

Doji couldn't understand,he had expected Ethan to be frightened from the reality of the danger that he had been in or probably even appreciate his effort in saving his life.But all he did was laugh!!

Doji could not help but frown and stare at Ethan with a questioning gaze.

Ethan's face was red hot from trying to hold down his laughter.Ethan immediately tried to compose himself when he saw the frown on Doji's face.

"l'm really sorry for laughing but I couldn't help it!!,you think I didn't notice the presence of the beast?!!"

"All I did was test you!!"

"You know Doji you do be a trustworthy and faithful friend"said Ethan with all sincerity.

Doji's eyes suddenly became wide he had come to the realization of the whole matter.

Knowing the truth made him to suddenly remember that Ethan was even able to notice vaguely the presence of Ravu not to talk of a level two Sedron beast.

"So that is how it is"thought Doji.He felt warmth in his heart due to Ethan's word, it was very nice knowing Ethan was beginning to trust him,but he showed none of this outside.

"You idiot!!,I should have minded my business"

"Don't expect me to help you when you are in real danger!!"

Ethan just smiled,he knew Doji was just trying to cover his joy with this words,he had seen Doji's face and reaction when he was sneakily attacked by the leopard like Sedron beast,so he knew well enough that Doji was just joking.

"I know you would"

"No I won't!!!"

"Yes you would!!"

"And what makes you say such?!!"

"Simply because you don't have a choice"

"Haha!! you do be so shocked when I watch and leave you to spanked by a Sedron beast" said Doji as he burst into laughter this ignited a chain reaction from Ethan and Ravu who roared like as though he was laughing.

"You are just bragging!!"

"No I'm not!!"

"Yes you are!"

The two continued to argue and argue, but both lads knew the true answer in their hearts.

They finally stopped arguing after what seemed like forever,for the first time they ran out of words to say to each other,even at this they still found it hard to sleep so Ethan decided to lighten the mood.

"Would you like to hear a story?"

"Yeeeeeeee...sss...yes"uttered Doji amidst yawning.

"When i was young my father once told me a story about 'Trust' "saying this made Ethan have a feeling of nostalgia.

"Trust ran through the green fields waving her arms and singing along with the birds,trust a fair and beautiful lady who's figure was enthralling and exquisite"

"Trust never seemed to be weary has she ran in joy through the boundless field,happiness was all Trust wanted which she got"

"But a day came when the green fields which Trust loved began to wither and lose its beauty,the birds no longer sang melodious tune but rather despondent and heartbreaking songs"

"Trust at this never stopped running through the fields but she had lost her inexhaustible energy due to the state of the fields"

"On a beautiful morning Trust ran through the fields as usual but the sight before her was saddening the fields was already arid and the gentle morning wind which the plants in the fields once absorbed was now blustery"

"Trust ran through the field in tears,never had she been as sad as this,she ran farther and farther hoping to see the fields she loved"

"She ran so far that she lost track of time,never had she run this far but even at this the field was still dry and barren"

"Trust still didn't give up,suddenly the earth under Trust's feet suddenly broke and ascended into the sky,she was frightened but she could do nothing about it"

"The fragment of earth under her feet continued to ascend,it pierced through the clouds but still didn't stop"

"This continued for a long time until suddenly a huge spiral staircase appeared before her in the skies"

"The fragment sped towards the staircase and immediately it got to the staircase it flung Trust towards it"

"A cloud of wind wrapped around Trust and placed her gently on the the staircase"

"Trust couldn't understand any of this nevertheless she began to run through the staircase"

"immediately she began to run,the step behind her began to rumble in a very fast pace,this spiked more strength in Trust"

"She ran exceedingly fast and the crumbling could not catch up with her"

"She finally go to the last step and was covered by a bright ray of light which transported her away"
