Sign of a breakthrough

Arrgh!!! screamed the reaper snake in pain as it was divided into two pieces by Ethan's flaming sword.

The now separate bodies of the snake jerked for few minutes before it became still and lifeless.

Ethan cancelled the flame and could not help but wonder how the situation in his clan is.

Ethan sighed, his clan members were suffering a lot,he alone could put a stop to it.

Ethan was no longer scared about the competition, with how powerful his elements are not to even talk of his sword,it would be impossible for him not to be admitted to the sect.

Ethan had never for once imagined that his talents would be as strong and scary as this.

Ethan returned the sword to his back ready to continue his journey, but suddenly he felt a warm sensation flow through his body.

He frowned a bit,he had been experiencing this strange feeling for some days,it always gave a sense of a breakthrough.

But Ethan was doubtful since he was just an elemental warrior,at least he should take like a month or so before an increase in level.

If it was so that a breakthrough is near then it would mind blowing as it would be beyond the range of his talent.

Ethan kept that at the back of his mind and left the area where he killed the reaper snake.

Back at Figlake, two young men could be seen strolling arrogantly in the compound of the clan.

"Lawrence come out,we your fathers have arrived" said one of the young men.

"Haha!! you should have said his grandfathers!!"

Said the other as they both burst into uncontrollable laugher.

The members of Figlake came out of their houses boiling ready to send whoever abused their leader into the abyss of intense suffering, both as soon they set their eyes on the young men they lost all anger and ran back into their houses.

Patriarch Lawrence in the twinkle of an eye appeared before the men with a frown on his face.

"What do you want?" questioned Patriarch Lawrence.

"Your beards!!" said one the young men amidst laughter.

Patriarch Lawrence's face was hot from anger,he bit his lips in order to calm his anger.

He was not afraid of the men before him though he and the men were of the same cultivation level.

His fear was the power behind them,no matter how poor or useless you are, insignificant or significant someone out there detest you.

Even as poor as Figlake is,Star Heir family a family which is far richer and influencer than them still somehow envied them.

Star Heir took Figlake as a worthy enemy, they pressured them and fought them at any available space.

They would have taken over their clan if not for the rule of Arc district which goes against it.

They had been a thorn to Figlake's flesh, members of Star Heir family would attack or beat their members at every given opportunity.

They had always reported this case to the kingdom official but he always turned a blind eye at it regarding it as a simple issue that can be resolved among both entities.

Star heir family was precisely the biggest and strongest family in the left wing district of Arc district and as expected they enjoyed the favour of the kingdom official.

"Be serious James, don't make little Lawrence angry"said the other young man mockingly.

Lawrence was burning in anger,he wanted nothing but to design the face of this men with punches, but he would not dare for the sake of his clan.

The one referred to as James giggled a bit before he cleared his throat and delivered their real message.

"Our highly respected Family head asked us to inform you that this year's wing district competition would take place in our clan"

"How many of your members are participating" asked James with disdain on his face.

"Just one" said Patriarch Lawrence as humble as he could.

"Ethan right, the one who is making your clan members grow arrogant"

"Where is he"demanded James with some evil thoughts dancing in his eyes.

"Training in a Sedron forest" said Patriarch Lawrence with unease in his tone.

"Ohhhh, that's nice I hope he will receive more training from Feng"said James sarcastically.

Patriarch Lawrence felt fear run down his spine.

"Feng is also training in the forest,I hope their path doesn't clash" hoped Patriarch Lawrence in his heart.

"How much can he train,he will still be a trash and a retard"said the other man in laughter.

They turned around and left Patriarch Lawrence standing having ridiculed him to their fill.

Noticing that they had left the members of Figlake began to appear one by one surrounding Patriarch Lawrence.

" What do they want?!!"

"Is it good or bad?!!"

"Is anything about them good"

The members began to bombard Patriarch Lawrence with questions which he didn't reply because he was lost in his thought.

The only thing that was processing and dancing in his head was "Ethan".

The sun had returned to the horizon and the clouds had become dark, the silver moon glowed, with the stars adorning the still night.

Ethan was seating in a clearing covered by trees,he burned sticks to keep himself warm and to roast the wild boar that he had caught earlier.

Ethan stared at the flames burning from the sticks and suddenly remembered a scene with his parents.

It was precisely seven years ago when he had his first kill, his parents and even the patriarch were very happy,as it was a great achievement for a young lad.

His family was gifted with the wild rabbit he killed, which was meant to have been added to the clan's treasury.

His father had roasted the rabbit the same way he was doing,he had eaten to his fill on that day.

His father was full of smiles, grinning from ear to ear,he walked around the clan with his shoulders raised high.

His father would always tell him how he loved the simple life he was living.

Ethan could not understand what made his parents flee the clan,he knew for sure that it was not the issue of poverty, it was something deeper.
