32 Chapter 32

Estrella's breath hitched. Her hand froze on my shoulder.

"Did-did you witness it or were you…" she trailed off

"It felt as if I were the one being murdered. I can't explain it but…"

"Yeah. I understand. It felt the same to me when I was in that memory from the first weapon" she said.

She pulled me closer "I'm so sorry you had to go through that"

I lowered my head as she layed her head on mine.

My sister and I were pretty close to each other when we were kids but after I came back from school, she changed. She told me about the dreams she would have when we were alone but other than that, we had very few interactions with each other. A few years had passed and she was kicked out of the castle. After that, she was left to live in the village on her own. I wasn't sure what she had been doing the entire time she was gone and after all that has happened, I still don't understand anything.

Estrella and I sat in silence while the others slept around us until we hear a loud scream coming from across the room. Someone turns on the lights and we see Cielo shaking Gun who had covered himself in multiple layers of blankets. Cielo looked back at us and said "He just started yelling but he's not waking up. He's not waking-" Cielo's voice cracked and couldn't finish the sentence. "What do I do?"

We rushed over to Gun who was flinching in his sleep and shaking uncontrollably. Then, he stopped and didn't move at all.

Terre pushed us aside and laid his head over Gun's chest where his heart was. He stayed there for a while before moving back.

"He's breathing kind of fast but his heart rate is going back down to a normal rate. He seems to be fine for now but we should keep watch over him until he wakes back up again" he said

We waited until morning for Gun but he kept sleeping until night. We waited two more days. I asked Terra if it was alright for him to go this long without food or water.

"No. If he stays like this for much longer, he could die from dehydration. We can try to pour some in his mouth and hope we don't accidentally drown him" he replied

"Sorry, what was that last part?" I asked

Kind who had overheard us said "It's best if we leave him the way he is right now for a few more days. I can bring him to a nearby doctor but you guys will need to leave right after. If they find out I was keeping you guys hidden, they kill me and if they find out he was planning on leaving with you guys…" she shook her head "I don't even want to think about what will happen to him."

"Is it that bad?" I asked her

"They use the Guns from the past to do worse things other than just protect the guards and leaders. And whenever they would rebel against them or ask too many questions, they would have public beatings. But there were rumors that the guards would give Guns "private lessons" behind closed doors"

"Private lessons? What the hell does that mean?" I asked

She shrugged "Who the hell knows"

"That's fucked up" Estrella said as she walked in from the kitchen carrying plates of food towards a small table in the middle of the living room.

"I don't know how things are where you guys are from but this is our reality here. We only wish we could change things" Terre said

"Does that have to do with your wife? You've never mentioned her before" Luna said from behind Estrella who had water and cups.

"Well Moon, there's many things we want to keep in the past" he said

We stayed silent and all you could hear was the crickets outside the house. Kind sighed "Her name was Vivante."

"Don't" Terre said

She was my only older sister. After she married Terra she became pregnant. His name-"

"You don't need to say more. I wasn't expecting an answer. It's fine" Luna said but it didn't stop Kind from saying it.

"Finir"

Terre grabbed Kind's arm. We tried to pull his arm away from her, thinking he was hurting her but instead he pulled her close and brought her to a hug.

The rest of us stepped back as Terre pulled back. His eyes were red and watery but he said "Please just give me a little bit more time. I swear I will tell you guys everything"

"Please don't feel like you need to. We'll be here if you need to talk but only when you are ready" Estrella said

He smiled and nodded.

"Alright! If we're done with all this mushy crap, let's eat" I said

We gathered around the table before Luna yelled "I'm so sorry!"

"What for?" Terre asked

"For asking about your personal life. I knew that bringing it up was hard for you but i still did it" she said

He waved it off "It's alright. Don't worry. I want to tell you guys about her one day. When I'm ready"

We started eating before I heard Gun moving around in the multiple layers of blankets he wrapped himself in a few days ago.

"Guy! He's moving!" I yelled

I excitedly jumped towards Gun who jumped out of the blankets and started screaming.

"No! Not yet!" He yelled "Let me go back! Let me go back!"

I yelled and shook him but he was unresponsive and kept screaming. His yelling was getting on my nerves so I raised my hand high up and brought hell down onto his face.

It must've brought him back since he went silent and his eyes focused on me.

"Cielo?" He whispered

I nodded.

He grabbed me and pulled me close "They- the beheading- and-and- the…"

The others who were surrounding us brought water and food from the dinner we were just eating.

We waited for Gun to calm down and drink water.

"Gun, can you tell us what happened?" Luna asked

I glared at her "Really? Not the time"

She shrugged.

"I can. Maybe you guys will understand it better than I do" Gun said
