1 Beginning [1]

Monday, the most melancholy of all the days has just started. For most people, at this time of the week would sigh, while the previous day would be heaven to them.

And Teufel was not an exception to this notion. However, in Teufel's case, it was not just a simple bother, the cozy school was associated with a very bad feeling, probably because he was depressed. As always, when the last bell chimed at school, he opened the door to the classroom with his tired body from pulling an all-nighter.

At that moment, Teufel received glares and clicking of tongues from the majority of the male students in the classroom. The girls did not have a friendly expression either. It was fine if the people were indifferent, but there were those who had an expression of contempt directed at him.

Teufel tried to play it off as he headed to his seat, but there was always people who would mess with him every time.

"Hey bastard! Did you play in the garbage again? Was it an fish I wonder?"

"Uwa, gross. Staying up all night to collecting trash is super disgusting."

What the heck do they find funny to guffaw at? The laughter came from Luke. He is the leader of the students that pick on Teufel on a daily routine.

The three next to him with the stupid laugh were Lance, Francis and Travis, these four were the ones that picked on Teufel the most frequently.

As Luke stated, Hajime was very poor.

Teufel's appearance and behavior was not that bad to be called bastard or to be ridiculed. His hair was trimmed short and he did not have bedhead hair. He did not have an assertive personality but that did not mean he was anti-social, besides he clearly replied back to people. He was quiet, but he did not give off a feeling of creepiness. Teufel simply didn't have the means to care about how he was dressed.

The criticism that a poor person receive from society is certainly strong, generally speaking the degree of ridicule varies but it never reaches open hostility. Yet, why does all the male students show unrestrained contempt and hostility?

The answer was a girl.

"Teufel, good Morning! Almost late as usually, you should come earlier."

The girl walks up to Teufel as she is smiling. In this class, no wait this whole school, she is one of the few exceptions that treated Teufel friendly.

Her name was Jane. She is known as one of the two Goddesses of the school, popular among both male and female students and known for her very beautiful looks. Jane had long glossy black hair that reached her waist, and large slightly weeping eyes that conveyed a sense of gentleness. She had a straight bridge nose that was small, and thin lips of Sakura colors arranged to perfection.

Always the girl with the endless smile, is very caring and has a strong sense of responsibility that often people, regardless of school year, rely on her help. She is always seen with a sincere expression without any unpleasantness, that is why it is hard to believe she was just a high school student.

So, why would someone like Jane always cared about Teufel?

Due to the influence of pulling an all-night, Teufel frequently dozed off in class. Because of this, he was thought of as an irresponsible student. Jane who naturally liked to take care of other people always minded about him.

For a person such as Teufel to be able to get close to Jane, most of the male students were unable to accept it, and kept wondering why only that guy! It was more simple for the female students, it was because he was wasting Jane's efforts. They were only unhappy that he did not try to change his attitude towards the classes.

"Ah, good morning Jane."

Eh?!

What's with this murderous aura?! Under the silent gaze of everyone, Teufel could only smile bitterly as he replied Jane.

Following that, Jane wore a very joyful expression. Why did she reveal that kind of expression?! Even more piercing gazes were directed at Teufel, which caused him to break out in cold sweat. Teufel always felt this was impossible, why would the most beautiful girl in the school care so much about him? Teufel already knew, for Jane to treat him so well, other than her nature, there must be some other reason.

However, Teufel had never thought that she possesses any romantic feeling for him. Teufel had this kind of mindset; for the purpose of his survival, he was willing to give up a lot of things. Appearance, achievement, and sports, he was mediocre in all aspect. On the other hand, she was always surrounded by so many good-looking guys, thus, her action was very inconceivable.
