Chapter title: Obsession

==============

"Careful, what you do / 'Cause god is watching your every move..."- Misa Amane, Death Note"

As the sun began to peak over the wall of Labyrinth City, Orario, at the time when only shop owners and eager Adventurers walked upon the streets, you could see two figures dressed in cloaks exiting the Tower of Babel.

One figure was taller than the other by a head or two. Presumably, a man and a woman were walking together. Both hurriedly headed toward the gate situated at the wall around the city. It was a rare sight. After all, not many people would want to go out of Orario. Nonetheless, Adventurers escorting or delivering missions were not out of the ordinary.

As soon as they arrived, a city guard came out and asked them for a reason for their departure. However, the female figure began to take off her hood. Instantly, the guard recognized the woman and opened the door to let the duo pass through. No words were exchanged between them as if the man compelled to do so.

When they crossed the gate, the duo entered a horse-pulled carriage; someone had prepared it beforehand for them to travel. The man immediately took the rein, and the woman began to enter the backdoor of the vehicle.

"Let's go, Ottar! The sooner we go, the faster we can recruit this Senji Muramasa into our Familia." The woman ordered.

"Of course, Freya-sama!"Ottar, Freya Familia's Captain, firmly replied to his Goddess, Freya.

With a tug of his hands, the horse began to move.

Their destination? The famed Forest of Blades, where the recluse blacksmith named Senji Muramasa resided.

As they began to travel upon the dirt road, the wall around Orario slowly disappeared behind their backs. Hills and trees soon replaced the flatland near the city as they traveled.

When the sun reached its peak was also when the carriage arrived at its destination. The Boaz then pulled the reins, and the horse stopped moving promptly. As the Goddess stepped down from the vehicle, she began to look behind her shoulder.

An auburn-haired young man stood alone upon a hill of swords with his back faced against her. His hand held onto a katana. He plunged it into the ground, like many other swords around him. Muramasa then turned his face toward her.

At that moment, Freya's eyes captured something she would never forget. Not his handsome face. After all, she has seen her fair share of good-looking men, mortals, and gods. But the thing that shocked her was his soul. With Freya's Discerning Eyes: her innate ability to see the color and brilliance of the souls, she could detect the oddities in one's soul. However, Muramasa's soul was a stark contrast to his body. Somehow, against everything natural in this world, an old soul was stuffed in a vessel of a young man.

Yet his soul was dazzling. It burned like the hottest fire and shone like the sun above her head. She could feel the searing heat exuded from the man's soul, the warmth of a forge. Freya could look at it forever and never get bored.

As she gleamed deeper and deeper into his soul, a fiery wasteland of swords appeared. This scenery was the final nail in the coffin.

"Beautiful!" The Goddess whispered to herself in shock.

As if something had possessed the Goddess.

She stood there, unmoving.

Freya's heartbeats began to accelerate; her cheeks reddened; her pupils enlarged; her throat started to dry; her mouth was salivating, and drools began to leak out; her knees were trembling.

The Goddess Freya has an unending appetite for all beautiful things. If something managed to catch her eyes, she would obtain it no matter the cost.

After all, Freya was a collector at heart. Therefore, her children were her treasures, and the Familia was her treasury.

All precious things destined for her.

And at this moment, she wanted to get. No! She must obtain this priceless, dazzling soul. Lest other Gods or, heaven forbid, Goddesses put their filthy paws on this man.

Freya rushed toward Muramasa like those housewives during a Black Friday sale.

As she ran. Muramasa finally spoked.

"What can I get for you, miss Goddess? After all, It's out of the norm for a divine being to meet a mortal face to face."

"Will you become mine, Senji Muramasa?" Freya shakily asked the man as she also used her ability: Charm.

The blacksmith cocked his eyebrows and stared at Freya incredulously. As if mocking her attempt to charm him into submission.

"No! Thanks for the offer, but I prefer to work alone." Muramasa replied flatly and began to return to his work.

Suddenly, the goddess held onto his hand and pulled back. However, her attempt at stopping Muramasa failed miserably, and she almost fell to the ground.

As Muramasa began to close the door of his hut and returned to his work. Freya shouted out to him.

"Wait!"

Nevertheless, the man's figure disappeared as the door slammed shut. Freya was in total shock.

"How? How could a mortal and a man at that could resist my Charm!?"

Freya was a Goddess of Beauty and had an innate ability to charm everyone. Gods, men or women, no one could escape her hold and got reduced to a loyal dog when she used it. After all, she had used this ability for millennia to charm many gods on Tenkai.

Today, she met a person that resisted her beauty and her ability. This experience only fueled her determination to possess the man for her own.

After all, wine tasted better with time.

Now, Freya would not hold back in her attempts to recruit the man and stop any competitors.

'Just you wait Senji Muramasa! One day, you will belong to me, no one else but me.' Freya thought firmly in her mind and began to return to Orario.
