Tears of the General

A peaceful night is ruined by loud wailing of a maid, that pierce the ears of the people nearby.

"The young miss, had passed away!" The maid cried, grieving.

"Oh poor child, she is so young!" The elder maid said with pity."Quick!, report this to Master."

The servant speedily run to the courtyard the master of the house is staying.

Inside the house, an old man with a dominating aura is sitting on a chair and writing a letter. Half of his hair already turned white and there are some wrinkles in his face but it can't hide the handsome features he possessed.

A knock breaks the silence,

"General, this servant is here to report."

The old man look up and put the pen back.

"Come in."

The servant quickly open the door and kneels in front of him.

"General, this servant is here to report that the young miss had passed away." He said, panting with his head lowered.

The old man addressed as the general lightly close his eyes and nodded.

Seeing this, the servant retreat quietly and lightly close the door.

Departing the house of the general, he meet the group of guards guarding the area.

"Is it true that the young miss already passed away?" Asked the guard with tall stature.

"Yes, just now the maid that was serving the young miss cried that the young miss is already dead." The servant nodded and answered.

All the guards worryingly look towards the house of their master, the general.

Inside the house, the general stared at the empty room. He clutch his head and close his eyes again, as if remembering something. A tear come rolling down his cheeks from his left eye letting it drop to the table.

"Why does it had to be my granddaughter?" He touch the portrait of his son with his wife.

"I'm sorry, I failed you."

The old man silently cried the night, holding the portrait.
