Try me

PE.

The subject that Scarlett hated the most.

Not that she hated sports and workouts in general, she just couldn't stand the fact that Mr. Davies, the teacher, was only capable of telling whoever wasn't part of a team to sit and do whatever they wanted to do, so that he could focus on train the stupid football team also Harry and Ollie were a part of.

"Ladies, try to entertain these kids with some cheerleading stuff. But don't distract them too much, alright? They're already pussies themselves." Coach Davies yelled at the girls who were sitting on the bleachers near the field.

"Fucking sexist bald guy." Scarlett whispered, making their friends laugh.

"What a shame not to have a cheerleading squad, uh?"

Someone said, sitting next to her, and she recognised Ollie's voice, so Scarlett turned around to face him.

"You would definitely be mine."

He said that with a smirk on his face and she tried to not smile him back: too hard, because he was too hot.

"Hey, Burt! Get your freaking ass down here before I can kick it repeatedly!" Harry yelled at his best friend from the field, which made Scarlett roll her eyes: once more, her brother was making a scene.

"Gotta go, I still hope that you're gonna cheer me on when I will be the one to kick his ass." Ollie winked at her, before he could run down the stairs and approach the rest of the team.

"Great team spirit, Harry. Now, run round this goddamn field three times. And try to keep up you pussies, otherwise I will be forced to add two more rounds every time I see someone pant, is everything clear?" Coach Davies yelled again and all the guys nodded, before starting to run without complaining.

"What was that?" Gwen asked Scarlett, while giggling with Rachel, obviously referring to Ollie.

"I told you guys!" she answered, looking at Ollie who was running next to Harry.

"He just wants to piss my brother off. He's not being serious." she terminated the sentence, with a bitter smile on her face.

"He so wants to shag you!" Rachel pointed out, but that had been obvious for ages.

"And so do you!" Gwen kept saying, making Scarlett shake her head.

"It's complicated, you guys. He just wants that and I've been having this crush on him since forever. Not to mention Harry, shoot, he would definitely freak out!"

Scarlett wished those were the only things that were making the whole Ollie issue complicated: nobody was aware of that, but she was still a virgin, and she didn't want her first time to be meaningless and with a random guy; not that Ollie was random, she really liked him, but at the same time she could have not stood to lose her virginity to a guy who just wanted her physically, and mostly as a one-time thing.

Scarlett knew very well that she didn't have to be ashamed of her sexual life, because she just wanted to wait for the right guy, even though she had had experiences with some guys she had dated, but nothing further than that.

"So what now, are we gonna do this Americanism or not?" Scarlett asked the girls, referring to the cheerleading thing.

"You heard Coach Davies." Grace Ruben, a girl who was attending French class with her, answered, and most of the other girls started giggling, excited that they had to cheer on such hot guys.

The majority of them had a crush on Harry, which used to annoy Scarlett because they have always pretended to be her friends just to know details about his love life; she thought they were horny and desperate geese who just wanted her brother to know they existed, so that he could have sex with them and brag about it.

"I'm gonna be Ollie's cheerleader!" Kelly Sanders, another goose, claimed, and Rachel and Gwen immediately gave Scarlett a look.

In her dreams she was going to do that!

"Guys, that's bullshit! Are we really gonna fight over who's gonna cheer on who?" Scarlett said, pretty annoyed by Kelly's enthusiasm.

"But Coach Davies said that we have to do this." Grace answered back and Scarlett was so likely to pull her hair because of how stupid she was being.

"But Ollie said to Scar that she is his cheerleader." Rachel stated, with a pleased smile on her face.

Jesus Christ: what the fuck did Rachel just do?

Now that word would have spread, and the entire school would have thought that Scarlett and Ollie were dating or sleeping together or whatever was able to make her so uncomfortable and in trouble with her brother.

"What the fuck, Rachel!" Scarlett yelled, so angry at her friend.

"Yeah Rachel, what the fuck?" Kelly asked, with a deep curiosity on her voice.

"I'm so sorry, Scar! I just wanted to take your sides!" Rachel whined.

"I can't believe you! I'm not two, I could have solved this bullshit in three seconds! But no, you have to be stupid every single time!"

Scarlett took a deep breath, trying not to think about how to kill her friend.

"Why are you complaining, anyway? He's so hot and he's your brother's best friend. It's nothing, calm down." Mia Collins intervened, just to make her even angrier.

"Mind your own fucking business!" Scarlett said, slowly punctuating her words, before leaving the field, ignoring Coach Davies' and her friends' calls.

She entered the gym and went to her locker straight away, feeling the tears coming out of her eyes: maybe she overreacted a little bit, but she hated when people were aware of her business, especially when it concerned her love life or involved either her brother or Ollie.

She knew that she had some kind of reputation to maintain and that it wasn't so important to care about what other people thought about her: but bullshits just made her lose her mind.

Maybe Mia was right: it was nothing; but actually, it was something, something really big and paranoid.

She didn't want Ollie to think that she was bragging about the fact that he was giving her attention, or that he was saying some kind of things to her, because that wasn't absolutely true.

At all.

When Scarlett heard the gym's door opening, she immediately stopped crying and grabbed her phone from her locker, sitting on the bench and pretending to text someone.

But, coincidentally, someone had texted her: that Callum guy from Lancaster, but in that moment she wasn't really in the mood to talk to him.

"Oi, are you alright?"

Her heart almost stopped beating when she heard Ollie's voice from behind.

"What are you doing here?" she asked him, without turning around.

"I managed to sneak out of the field. I don't care if Coach Davies saw me, why are you so upset?" Ollie said, sitting next to her on the bench.

"What about Harry?"

"What about your brother?"

She chuckled, because she knew he knew what she was talking about.

"I just wanted to check on you. Are you okay, Scar?" he answered back, before Scarlett could say anything else: she just wanted to kiss him so badly in that moment.

She finally managed to lift her head up and look at him in the eyes: he was seriously worried and wasn't smiling at all; she tried to kick that thought out of her mind, but it was really impossible not to kiss him, especially because they were really close to each other, he was handsome and sweaty, but still sexy, and the fact that he passed his tongue on his lower lip didn't help her at all.

Ollie came even closer to her, Scarlett was a hundred per cent sure that he was about to kiss her, but before he could at least try to do that, she immediately stood up.

"I'm, uh... I'm fine, Ollie. I'm great, actually, I just needed to be a bit dramatic over some stuff, you know me!" she said, making a nervous chuckle.

Ollie looked at her with a raised eyebrow, but then he smiled back at her.

"Alright, if you say so."

He stood up and came close to Scarlett, once again.

"I guess those bitches don't wanna mess with Queen Scarlett, do they?"

Queen Scarlett?

Who gave her that stupid nickname?

"Right. Thank you for coming to check on me, by the way."

They smiled simultaneously.

"You know I got your back, sunshine." Ollie said, touching her cheek softly.

Scarlett deeply hoped that she wasn't going to blush in front of him: how embarrassing would that be?

"Please let Coach Davies' lecture be worth my escape. Come cheer me on."

"I'll be right back."

He winked at her before leaving the locker room and she had to bite her lips not to start giggling like an idiot.

Scarlett grabbed her phone to put it back into her locker, but then she realised she still had Callum's message unread, so she decided to open it: Look at that attitude. Are you sure I won't be the one to get bored first?

She laughed, she couldn't believe her eyes: Scarlett Marshall had never been, wasn't and would have never been boring at all.

That guy had no idea who he was talking to: who was he in the first place, anyway?

Did he want to play? Great, she loved playing.

She would have given him the hardest time.

Try me.

"What was all today's fuss about?" Harry asked Scarlett, entering her room like it was the living room.

"Ever heard of knocking, dickhead?" she grumbled, throwing a pillow at him.

He laughed with nonchalance and threw himself on her bed.

"You're not doing anything special anyway."

She rolled her eyes and aped him, repeating the same exact words he used with her: typical Marshall siblings.

"So?" Harry asked again.

"What? I'm trying to do homework here! You're so annoying, oh my God." Scarlett complained, trying to avoid his question.

"You're such a drama queen, why did Ollie chase you? What happened in the locker room?"

Seriously? Scarlett hated when Harry made scenes out of nowhere, especially when it was about lads.

"Jesus Harry, I don't know! He just wanted to see how I was doing." she answered, completely chilled.

"Why? What's happening between you two guys? I'm gonna smash his face if he's-"

She didn't even let him finish talking, because she knew where he was about to go; and sometimes, his jealousy and protection towards his little sister really scared her.

"Look, Harry, nothing is going on between me and your best friend. I guess he has been acting like an older brother too, we all know each other since kindergarten. You should ask him why he did what he did, how the fuck am I supposed to know?" Scarlett told him, hoping to make him stop talking about it.

"Don't you think I've done it? He said it was nothing too." he answered back.

"So, nothing is nothing. Stop digging in my life every time, it's pretty annoying to be fair."

Somehow, she wished she never said that to him, because the more she kept telling her brother to stay out of her life, the more he was trying to let him inside it.

"Kids, dinner's ready!" their mum yelled from the kitchen, so Harry stood up.

"Saved by the bell. I hope you two are not shagging."

He said that and then he left her room, making her sight deeply: her brother was really impossible sometimes, but still he had no right to accuse her of something so big that she wasn't even doing.

She stood up and ran downstairs, ready to face and fight her brother.

"Hey! That conversation wasn't over!" Scarlett yelled at Harry, making her parents turn around.

"It was for me. I'm done talking to you." he answered back, with no emotions on his tone.

"Well, I'm not! You can't just come to me and talk shit, I'm not sleeping with anyone, least of all with your fucking best friend!" she yelled again.

"Scarlett! Language!" Joe, their father, scolded her.

"Harry, darling, what's going on?" Karen, their mother, asked her son.

"I'm telling you what's going on, mum, your son has a sick mind!"

Harry laughed at her words.

"You're a child, for God's sake. You make scenes at school every fucking time."

"Me? Have you listened to yourself, lately?

"Alright, that's enough already!" their father yelled, making everybody quiet.

"You go to your room and come down when you're ready to talk normally. And you, son, stop acting like you own Scarlett and be a grown man!"

Three seconds later, Harry stood up and threw on the floor everything that was on his plate, just with a slap.

"She is my fucking sister! Not Ollie's! I don't give a shit about what he thinks he's doing!" he yelled, with all the rage he had inside himself.

"Sweetheart..." their mother tried to say, but her father stopped her immediately.

"Get the hell out of my sight before I can kick you out of my house." Joe said to his son, but before he could do that, Scarlett preempted him and ran upstairs, locking herself up in her room, still scared about her brother's actions and words.

What was wrong with him?
