1 Chapter 1: Red and Blue Lights

Known to some as one of the greatest living scientists in the world, and to others a loving family man and great father, Donavan Johnson was one of the most pure hearted, successful black men in America. A certified genius with an IQ of 200, Donavan founded his own scientific research company, Johnson's Discoveries Inc, quietly becoming a multi-millionaire for his amazing innovations and discoveries. Having grown up poor and black, he was the first in his family to earn a college education, which had been his life goal since he was 4 years old. Backed with a masters degree in science and one in chemical engineering, both from Harvard University, one would think that a perfectly healthy man would have nothing but success in his future. That is until he saw the flashing red and blue lights behind him. Donavan was a model citizen, never getting as much as a speeding ticket, and one of the most charitable people in his community, giving back, hoping that other poor black kids would be motivated to reach his own status. So you could see why he'd be puzzled about being pulled over. As he pulled to the side of the road, Donavan began to get a bad feeling about the traffic stop, and with his license and insurance papers in his hand, he took a deep breath and rolled his window down, saying a little prayer to himself for protection.

"Well well well, look what we got here. What are you doing in my part of the city boy?!"

"Well officer I own a business right down the street, so I'm going in to work, sir."

"Own a business? So you expect me to believe that you own a business, nigger?"

Hearing that word got Donavan's blood instantly boiling, but he was able to just barely maintain his cool.

"Officer I'd prefer if you didn't use that word. I have my license and insurance information here in my hand, and I'm the owner of Johnson's Discoveries Inc."

"Gimme that boy!"

The officer snatched his license and insurance insurance information, reading it before he threw it to the ground, spitting on it. While Donavan looked down, stunned at what the officer had done, the officer opened his door and ripped him out of his car.

"I don't like your kind, but I especially hate smart niggers!"

"Officer can we please talk this out?! This isn't necessary! I'm not resisting and I didn't do anything wrong!

"That's where you're wrong nigger, you messed up when you drove in my town freely, thinking you can do what us whites do. But guess what? Ain't nobody here to save you now nigger, this is just one more black body and paid suspension for me!"

"AHHHH!!! SOMEBODY HELP ME!"

"Shut the hell up, you don't got no more rights!"

Punch after punch, kick after kick, the officer beat Donavan, calling him every name he could think of. As a helpless Donavan laid on the ground, a crowd gathered, recording the beating, and trying to talk the cop out of beating him.

"Since y'all like to shoot videos, I'll give ya something to record!"

The officer drew his firearm, placing the barrel in the face of his now broken and bloodied victim.

"Any last words you filthy nigger?"

With tears in his eyes, blood dripping from his face, Donavan spoke his last words.

"I just hope my children know, I will always love them."

And with an evil smirk on his face, the cop pulled the trigger, as simply as he'd flip a light SWITCH!
