5 Chapter 4

Whitney

From what I've observed, Blair Westwood wasn't much of a talker. Though she was surrounded by the many people in her group, it was they who did most of the talking. Her lips hardly moved and the way she looked reminded me of a queen watching her kingdom in action.

The cheerleading team was an exclusive group. It was Blair's army. No one dared to mess with them, and if someone did, there was no point to search for salvation. You'd be doomed. I heard that the last person who tried to mess with them had to move to a new state for whatever reason.

Everyone in town knew that the Westwood family was at the very tip of the ladder. Not much was disclosed about them, truth-wise. They were all just rumors told by those who were thirsty for attention. You were a big deal if you were acquainted with at least one member of the family.

Sweat trickled down my forehead as I took a seat on the bleachers. With games and competitions coming up in the forthcoming weeks, I'd been staying overtime to train. My entire body was sore and covered in bruises. I could barely feel my arms and move my muscles.

"Shit." I heaved out as I wiped the sweat off my forehead and uncapped my water jug.

From a distance, I spotted Amara talking to her sister Delilah. They seemed to be arguing over something until I caught Delilah's eye and Amara's gaze soon followed. That seemed to irritate her even more and she made an attempt to walk away, only for her to be pulled back.

What was going on between the two? I was confused. Why were they looking at me? I don't recall doing anything wrong.

When Amara managed to slither away, I saw Delilah going forth in my direction. My eyes grew wide and panic spread through me. Forcing my legs to stand up, I walked away as fast as I could to avoid her. I didn't know what that was about, nor did I want to.

I locked myself up inside the girls bathroom. It was a terrible idea, but I had no other place to go. I knew it wouldn't take long for the girl to guess where I was and find me.

Catching my breath, I locked the door so she couldn't get in even if she knew that I was there. Slowly, I took a few steps back, my eyes unwavering on the big grey door, not noticing that there was someone else in there until my body collided with theirs.

"What the hell do you think you're doing?" a sharp, silvery voice filled my ears.

My heart stopped and my entire being froze upon hearing that. I recognized that voice. That was Blair Westwood's voice.

"O-Oh my G- I am so s-sorry, Blair. I didn't mean to do that. I should've watched where I was going." I gulped the large lump that formed in the back of my throat and my eyes casted down on the floor.

Silence filled the air between us, and as the minutes passed, the antsier I got to leave. I wanted to walk out, but I knew the second-in-command was hot on my trail. Wait.

I was stuck in the bathroom with the HBIC of all people, while Delilah Santiago was also after me. Realization hitting, I looked up to meet the piercing green eyes of the she-devil herself.

I could feel my face getting hotter by the seconds. I got flashbacks to a few nights ago when we were at Hal's Sushi, where she and I made eye contact for the first time. The room was all of a sudden humid with tension, and as much as I wanted to avert my glance at something else, I couldn't. I was stuck in a trance.

I found myself lost and staring at the almighty head cheerleader. The skin-tight purple uniform did wonders for her body, accentuating all of its graciousness. Her taut and petite figure could make anyone fall to their knees at the sight of it. Their uniform was split into two pieces, leaving a little space for skin to show.

I was too caught up in my reverie that I didn't hear Blair snapping me out of it. "Is someone following you?"

"What?" I uttered, totally lost before it hit me. "Oh! Um..I-I'm not sure."

She stared at me heedfully, as if trying to read my thoughts. A sigh slipped past her mouth, and I watched her walk over to the door to pull it open.

"Jesus, Lilah! What did I tell you about going after people like that? It's fucking creepy." the brunette groaned, shaking her head.

Delilah looked at us with her mouth hung open in utmost confusion, her perfectly arched brows scrunched together. "I just wanted to talk to her, that's all."

"Tell someone that next time, will you?" Blair's eyes rolled, motioning for her to come in and shutting the door behind her.

It was at that moment when I was fully convinced that I was dreaming. A laugh escaped my lips at the thought of it. Of course this was all just a dream. This would never happen in real life.

Hearing my laughter, the two girls stared at me weirdly, as if I had gone crazy. My laughter was short-lived and soon died down. Dread coursed throughout me when I realized that this was too bad to be a nightmare.
