14 Chapter 13

Blair

"Did you see the smile on Blair's face this morning?"

"I know! It was creeping me out!"

"You think she got laid?"

"By who?"

"That can't be- Blair hates the male population in this town."

Whispers and murmurs filled my ears. On a normal basis, that would dampen my mood, and I would automatically be quick to slash them with my words, but today was different. I had to agree with what they were saying. It had been a rather unusual day for me.

As I drove on the way to school, I had a smile painted on my face in contrast to the usual frown that was etched. I had also gotten weird looks from the home staff when I greeted them good morning and bid them goodbye.

The feeling was foreign. It wasn't like my character to be in such a bright mood. When I noticed the team staring at me as if I had just won the lottery and donated the money to the poor, I snapped out of it and got back to my domineering persona.

"Who said you can stop and take a break?" my voice was loud and booming, watching them jolt and flinch. "From the top!" they were all quick to obey and scatter to get in position, not wanting to anger me.

I tapped the play button on my phone and music filled the room as I watched them go over what we practiced. Of course, I still took note of the few minor errors that I called and pointed out one by one.

For the rest of practice, I did my best not to let my guard down. I perfected their wrongs in my typical dictating manner, my words still stern to keep them on their toes. They should know better than to waste their time running their mouths while I was there.

Practice ended at 5 as usual. Sweaty and tired, I headed to the bathroom to take a shower. I stood by the sinks as I stripped down to my underwear when one of my team members walked in.

"Hey, Blair!" she greeted, bouncy and a bit too bubbly for me to deal with at that time of the day. I knew her as the girl who constantly sucked up to me and kissed my ass at any chance she got.

Katrina, I think her name was. She was a short redhead with an enviously good tan on her.

"Hello?" I replied, sounding bored to display my lack of interest in having a conversation. I pulled my hair out of its tight ponytail and let it fall to my waist. Even with my dismissive actions, it didn't seem like the girl got the hint that I didn't want to talk.

"Did you think I did good during practice?" she beamed up at me, pressing on further. Annoyance swept over my features at her sheer desperation for my approval, "I've been practicing my round-off handspring a lot lately."

An insult was at the very tip of my tongue, ready to shut her up and send her out the door. Instead, I pushed it back, testing myself to see if I could go on a day holding it.

"Great." I muttered, mockingly praising her without looking up. My hands reached behind my back to unhook my bra and pull down my panties, not failing to miss the girl's eyes rake over my figure and bite her lip. Oh, okay...

"Wow," she breathed out, eyes wide, "You have great abs."

"Thank you, I know." I smirked, amused at the new-found information that would be useful some time in the future.

"No seriously...you have like...such an amazing body," she continued, emphasizing her words while still visibly checking me out, "I'm like, so totally jealous!"

"Take a picture then, it'll last longer." I joked, my left eye dropping to a wink before I stepped in the shower cubicle.

As I was on my way to my car, I couldn't help but search for the tall blonde that had been taking over my thoughts.

I thought of passing by the choir room, only to find the janitor in there cleaning up. I knew that the varsity team finished at the same we did. A sigh left my mouth, wondering where she could be. I didn't know if she was even at school because we didn't have any shared classes together.

Just as I was about to give up and leave, I saw her walk out from one of the other rooms, but oh she wasn't alone. A boy leeched on her left side, saying something she was the least bit interested in judging by her expression. The light in her eyes was dimmer than usual, and the bags under them highlighted the distress. Something was off..

The two parties didn't notice my presence, and she said something to him that made him smile at her. My eyes narrowed.

I was sure I had seen him before. I probably had a class with him, but he was one of those who stayed quiet and sat at the back.

It didn't matter, I would find out who he was anyway.
