Eye Candy

I notice that the other customers have been staring at us. Uh oh, this is bad!! Naomi and I quickly settle things down before anything more happens. My break got wasted! I wanna cry. I glance over to the counter and notice used tissues on them. I should clear that up. I pick the tissues up and something flutters down on the floor. It's a passport size photo of that man! Did he leave it here when he was cleaning himself up? Whatever it is, that man's pretty easy on the eyes. I keep looking at the photo, captivated.

Kid: Miss, can a have a cream puff, please?

A small kid's voice snaps me back to my senses.

Mia: Sure! Do you want to eat it now?

I ask him as I put the man's photo in my bag. The kid nods. Hehe, he's so adorable but, is he out alone? I don't see this parents around. Maybe they are waiting outside? I put a cream puff in a cover and hand it to him. He takes it from my hands, his eyes sparkling. S-so cute!! He takes a bite from it. Looks like he's enjoying it. A smile spreads across my face as I watch him eat.

Mia: That would be 2.50, please.

Just then, a woman comes barging into the shop and glares at the little boy.

Woman: You! How dare you leave just like that?! And you purchased food too?!

I'm not very good at reading between the lines but, I think this kid came in here without his mother's permission. In that case he might not have any money too. His mom looks really strict; I kinda pity him. However, whatever it is, my job comes first. I timidly speak up.

Mia: Um, ma'am, you're causing a commotion here. I suggest you keep calm and...

I hold up the bill.

Mia: You need to pay me 2.50 bucks.

She glares at me. I gulp with nervousness. I shouldn't be afraid! I haven't done anything wrong! I fix my composure. She notices other people's eyes at her and unwillingly hands me the money before briskly walking out of the shop, dragging her son behind. Did all commotion causing costumers planning to come here today?!

After work, I go to my apartment and flop down on my bed.

Mia: Hahhh, what a day!

I remove the man's photo from my pocket and look at it. Somehow, looking at his face sets me at ease. Hah! How ironic since I don't ever know his name. I wonder when I'll see him again. He said that he's a regular customer but, I don't recall seeing him. Maybe he comes to the shop during Naomi's shift. Whatever, he'll stop by sometime soon. Although I somehow don't want to, I'll return this photo to him then. I put the photo in my wallet. I should take a shower and then maybe I'll order something to eat afterwards. I push his face out of my mind for the time being and go for a shower....
