61 She's The One!

Mike was awestruck the moment his eyes landed on the woman's face who came out of the door. He can't tear off his eyes away from her alluring beauty.

He was looking at her as if she was a goddess that falls from the sky and come to him in slow motion. With her pretty face and sexy body, she looks like a gorgeous model that comes out straight from a magazine's cover. She got amazing curves in the right places. He was mesmerized by her refreshing and captivating beauty, no trace of makeup or any type of cosmetics on her face. She's looking fresh as morning dew.

Indeed, she looks a perfect 10! Sexy body, just the right height and the face so pretty, just the way how his brother John describes her to be.

Caroline raised her brow in amusement. "A-are you checking me out?"

A flush crept up his face, then Mike chuckled. "Am I that obvious?"

Caroline smiled, she's used to men ogling at her face and body, especially if they saw her beauty for the first time. Someone told her once that she had a very captivating beauty, the kind of beauty that one would keep looking at and never get tired. Unfortunately, there's only one man that was immune to her beauty and it's John.

Mike finally overcome the feeling of being starstruck by her beauty. "It's my pleasure meeting you, Caroline!" he said and eagerly extended his right hand for a handshake.

Caroline accepted his hand, their handshake lasted for a few seconds, it's a firm one.

"So...what brings you here to my house, Mike? What can I do for you?" she asked looking deeply into his eyes.

Mike met her gaze unflinchingly. "I asked my brother to accompany me here because I don't know where your house is located. So, I'm here! I just want you to know that Catherine and the babies are staying at our house at this moment. If you are ready to talk to your sister I'm just a phone call away. I can bring you to our house anytime you wish. By the way here's my number," he said and placed a calling card in front of her.

"I see," Caroline said and rolled her eyes and ignored the card. "So, you're here on behalf of my sister? Did she ordered you to talk to me?" an irritation crept up in her voice.

Mike shook his head. "No, not really. In fact, she had no idea that I visited you here. I'm here on my own. Just trying to be a peace negotiator," he joked and smiled. "Can I have your phone number, please?" he added.

Caroline shrugged her shoulder. "Why do you want my number? You want to have a text mate?"

Mike erupted into a burst of deep and husky laughter. "Sort of. Actually, it's important that we have communication because I'm going be your guardian angel," he joked again.

It's now Caroline's time to laugh, deep inside she has no plan to give him her number. "You're funny!"

A few seconds later.

Mike noticed that she seem to have no interest in giving him her number. He didn't pursue the matter. Coughing a little to boost his confidence, he addresses her. "Caroline, can I invite you to dinner?" he finally said.

Caroline looked at him in the eyes, her brows furrowed. "What for-?

"Nothing. I just want to know you better. For the start, we can be good friends since we're family. Our family was intertwined together, so it's only right that we know each other or else we will bump each other into the street and we have no idea, who is who? Am I right?" he winked playfully at her.

Caroline nods her head, he was making sense. The more she looks at him, the more she realized that he and John have shared similarities in the physical feature. The good looking brothers are blood-related indeed, that's why.

"Like what you see? Done checking me out?" Mike smirked.

Caroline giggled. "You're full of yourself," she said.

"And so are you!" he retorted, amused.

Hmph! She pouted. "You' re—you're—"

Dang! She can't say the word.

"Just say it! I'm handsome and I'm you're type. In that case, we're perfect together!" he grinned oozing with confidence.

Caroline erupted in laughter. "You're impossible...and hopeless!"

"Glad to know that I can make you smile. So, are you still hesitating to go out with me?" he winked at her again ramping his charm up hoping to turn her knees into jelly.

Caroline was hesitating for a moment. It's just a one-time dinner. No harm to give in to his request. She has not been on a dinner date for a long time and he looks like a decent guy. If John was a bit cold and aloof towards her, his brother looks fun and playful. So why not?

Mike doesn't want to pressure her so early on their first meeting. "It's okay if you don't want to go out with me. I will just come back here tomorrow, you know, just wanting to talk to you and nothing more," he said. He rose to his feet. "I'm leaving now. Sorry for disturbing your evening, Caroline. It's my absolute pleasure meeting you tonight. Got to go!"

"Okay, take care and drive safely," she told him.

Mike smiled at her and sauntered towards the gate, getting into the driver's seat. Before he started the engine he was waving his hand at her inside the gate. "See you tomorrow!"

"Bye Mike!" she waved back, smiling pleasantly at him.

Mike put a hand on his chest in the area where his heart was still beating erratically. The smile on his lips lingered. He found a burst of new sunshine after losing Catherine. His heart somersaults the moment his eyes landed on her face and every time she smiles she looks more captivating and alluring. He inserted the key into the ignition keyhole and starts the engine and was disappointed to see that Caroline was no longer standing outside the house.

"She's the one!" he said aloud inside the car and grinned, amused at his silliness.

He navigated the car outside the subdivision back to his home.

...

Before midnight.

Caroline was about to sleep when she received a text message from an unknown number. She read the message.

'Goodnight, Miss Caroline, from Mike. Please, add my number to your contacts. Thanks! See you tomorrow!'

Caroline smiled, she added Mike's number into her contacts and placed the phone back in the bedside table.
