58 She's Evil!

Eastwood Subdivision.

Thelma entered Caroline's room wanting to talk to her daughter regarding the latest squabble between her and Catherine.

Caroline was currently sitting on the bed attaching a diaper to the baby's bottom.

Thelma went to the side of the bed where her daughter was sitting. "Daughter, we need to talk," she began.

Caroline looked at her mother. "About what—Mom?"

"It's about you and your sister. When are you going to talk to each other and settle this feud between you and her?" Thelma asked.

Caroline groaned, she's getting tired of her mother's repetitive question. "If you want me to apologize to my sister, my answer is, no way! Hell no! She should be the one to come to me and apologize for hurting me, not the other way around!" she said raising her voice defiantly.

Thelma released a deep sigh. She did try to reach out to her other daughter Catherine last night. But Catherine told her that it will take a long time before she and her sister will be okay. And she also refused to be the first to initiate the reconciliation. It's been hard convincing her daughters to meet in the middle. They were both stubborn and got high pride. Nobody is humble enough to swallow her pride just to end the conflict. Being a mother, it's a terrible feeling to be in the middle of the war between your children. She wants peace and harmony between her children, not quarrels and jealousy.

"So, you're not gonna talk to your sister or even send her a text message of reconciliation?" Thelma asked sadly. She kept asking even if she already knows Caroline's answer.

"I'm sorry, Mom. I won't do it. Please, don't bother yourself about this thing. It's between me and my sister, you're out of this issue. Besides, we don't need my sister in our lives. We can function without her. I have money to sustain our needs, we are self-sufficient financially. We don't need to depend on Catherine anymore. We can stand on our own, so we should stop thinking about her and to hell with her diva attitude!" Caroline said with contempt in her voice.

Thelma stared at her daughter's angry face. "Daughter, please don't hate your sister!" she reprimanded her.

Caroline took a deep breath. "I'm trying not to, Mom. But every time I remember how she slapped, kicked and punch me, I can't help but hate her. She let jealousy take over her senses when I'm lying there with my severe cramps and she adds to my injury by hurting me physically without checking if I'm telling the truth or not. She's evil, Mom!"

Thelma's face darken. "Don't ever say your sister is evil! Did you remember when you tried to seduce her husband when she goes missing? That's what I call evil!" she shouted at her daughter's face.

Caroline's temper flared up, she was about to lash out at her mother but she remembered that she has an illness. "Mom, please, let's not talk about the past, it's already over a long time ago. I already apologized to my sister about that issue and we're okay. I have gotten over my infatuation with John. I no longer have any feelings for him. So, please let us not bring back the past into this," she pleaded calmly. What she hated the most is when people brought the past issues that have nothing to do with the current problem.

'In your mind, the past has nothing to do with the present but how about in your sister's mind?' a small voice whispered in her ears.

She ignored it.

Caroline shut her eyes for a few seconds and opens it again. "From now on, let's not talk about my sister anymore. Just don't mention her name in my presence. I don't want to talk about her. For our sanity and peace of mind, let's avoid mentioning her name. This way we can move on. I wanted to rest, Mom," she said gently, her way of dismissing her mother politely.

Thelma doesn't want to exit the room yet. She still wants to talk to her daughter and try convincing her that she has to be the one to go to her sister and try to initiate the reconciliation, but it looks like Caroline's heart was already made of stone. She wondered what could make her two daughters reconcile? She won't give up finding ways to reconcile them, but for the time being, the twins need to calm down first. Maybe time can help heal the anger they felt towards each other.

Thelma stared at her daughter's defiant face for a long time. A few minutes later, she can't bear the silence anymore.

"Okay, I will leave you now. But please take the time to reflect on why your sister ended up hurting you. It's all because of jealousy. She may be trying to be civil with you and perform her duties as your good sister but once something can trigger her memories of your betrayal, her pain and anger would resurface at any given moment. So, please don't hate your sister for that knowledge that I'm telling you now. Be considerate since you are the one who made the great damage to her. If you are in her shoes, I'm sure you would feel and react the same way as her," she reminded her.

Thelma walked slowly towards the door and left the room.

Caroline rolled her eyes. Duh! She would never be like her sister who is easy to provoke, too fragile, too emotional and too weak!

She returned her attention to her infant daughter and kissed her chubby cheeks endlessly and tickled her sides. Baby Cathy was laughing and cooing loving her mother's kisses.

Caroline ended up giggling in happiness truly delighted by her daughter's adorable response to their bonding.

With baby Cathy and her millions in the bank by her side, she can face the world without needing anybody else. Baby Cathy can make her world go round and make her bad day turn rosy. Her daughter is her most precious treasure in life, so she will devote all her time and resources to her daughter's well being and made her a successful well-educated woman someday. She will make sure of that.
