65 Gut Feeling

The following day.

Caroline woke up to a bright new day. She glanced at baby Cathy in her crib, her daughter was still sleeping soundly. She rose to her feet, left the bed and went straight to the bathroom to splash water on her face and gurgle water.

A moment later.

She exited the bathroom and sat on the edge of the bed. She reached for her phone checking her messages.

She got two messages, one from Mike telling her goodnight.

The other message comes from the unknown number. Caroline reads the message.

'Please come and see me before it's too late!'

Caroline massaged her temple, confused as hell who is this mysterious person who stalked her on the phone. Although the message does not come every day, they always come twice or three times a week.

She's getting irritated by the mysterious messages and the one responsible for it. The sender uses many numbers but won't even answer her calls. It puzzled her greatly.

Damn! Who is the lunatic person behind all this?

She put the phone back on the bedside table. She picked up her tablet and scan the latest local and international headline news.

Seeing nothing interesting, she put the tablet down in the bed and exited the bedroom heading downstairs to prepare her morning coffee.

After making her coffee in the kitchen, she brought the mug back upstairs to her bedroom.

Inside her bedroom.

Caroline received a message again, this time coming from Mike.

'Good morning Sweetie! How's your sleep? Mine is awesome. I will visit you tonight. I will bring you to a nice place. See you tonight! Take care and enjoy your morning!'

For some reason, his sweet message put a smile on Caroline's face.

Mike is a little bit flirty towards her, in a cute way. He's done nothing extreme yet to warrant her anger. In previous times, if Mike appears in her life when she was still poor, she might latch onto him aggressively. But now that she had her own money she will play hard to get. She won't fall easily with any man. Mike is rich and handsome but she was confident that there are far richer and handsome guy out there, he is just one of the many. Therefore, she should not rush entering a relationship until she meets the best man out there.

As for Mike, he is cute and fun to be with, she will keep him by her side, if she has no more choices left, then he is the one.

Hmm, she can make him fall hard for her until he will kiss the ground that she was walking and do everything she wishes.

Not a bad idea!

Anyways, it's not her fault that he succumbs to her charm. He was just drawn to her naturally without her doing anything to attract him.

No matter what happens in the future, he can only blame himself.

She rarely replied to his messages. He needs to get used to it.

Caroline smiled to herself.

Baby Cathy opens her eyes and cried.

Caroline went to her daughter's side and picked her up and carry her in her arms lovingly. "How's my beautiful baby today? Are you hungry baby?" she nuzzled the infant's cheeks. "Alright, let's go down and prepare your milk, okay? I love you so much, mwuaaah!" she showered her baby daughter's face with feathery kisses. Her daughter's adorable sight always brings a bright smile on her face.

Baby Cathy is getting more active now that she's getting older. When she's awake she moves a lot and already trying to play with the toys she hanged above her crib.

"I love you, baby Cathy! Mama loves you so much!"

The infant smiled angelically while basking in her mother's love and affection.

Mike visited his brother in his office.

"Bro, I'm dropping by to ask you how are you doing?" Mike asked.

John smiled fondly at Mike. Compared to his deceased brother Joseph, he and Mike shared a nice comfortable brotherly affection that he never experienced with Joseph. "How it's' going?"

"Regarding Caroline?"

"Yeah."

"She finally goes out with me on Day 2."

"Really-? Where?"

"We have a blast doing karaoke session in my favorite KTV bar last night. You are correct bro, Caroline got a nice voice!"

"Yeah, she did. So, are you gonna keep seeing her?"

Mike nodded his head. "Definitely. I will visit her again tonight, this time I will try to coax her about taking the initiative to talk to her sister. You know...so that we can speed up the process of the sister's reconciliation."

"Ah, okay. Thanks for the effort in advance bro," John said.

Mike smiled. "Don't mention it, bro. I'm glad I can be of help to you."

"By the way. After you are done reconciling the sisters, would you still seriously pursue Caroline?" asked John.

Mike grinned boyishly. "Yes! I like her already. I've got a huge crush on her. It's not wrong to pursue her, right? I'm single and she's single, we're both single. We're a perfect match," he enthused.

John took a deep breath. "Why her? Why not switch your attention to other women?"

Mike's eyes flickered with astonishment by his brother's question. "Why not her? I mean, why do I have this feeling that you are not favoring Caroline for me, bro?"

John was feeling uneasy and shrugged his shoulders. "I dunno, bro. I have this gut feeling that Caroline will bring you so much pain in the future. Call it a hunch or something...I can't describe it well in words...I just feel it. You and Caroline having a romantic relationship somehow doesn't sit right with me."

Mike smiled, disregarding his brother's gut feeling is plain nonsense. "It's just a foreboding thought, brother. It has no basis at all, just a gut feeling. But thanks anyway for reminding me. I appreciate your concern, don't worry, if at some point I notice that Caroline will start giving me problems and headaches I will distance myself from her," Mike said. "Just that I have a deep attraction towards her and I want to explore the possibility that she could be the one that I've been waiting for all my life. I'm also dreaming of having a family of my own, just like you. I want to have a loving and devoted wife and children to love and cherish," he added wistfully.

John nods his head. "I do understand, brother. I wish you luck with Caroline. Hope she won't give you pain and headache later," he fervently wishes. Deep inside, he is not liking Caroline to be his brother's soulmate. There's something about Caroline that spells trouble. He just hopes that his brother will meet another woman soon just not Caroline! But if Mike will still pursue Caroline then there's nothing he can do about it.

"Bro, I'm leaving now. I will drop by some other time," he said and bid goodbye to his brother.

"Bye bro!" John replied.

Mike rose to his feet and sauntered towards the door. After a few minutes, he was already out of the building, currently driving his car heading towards Caroline's home.
