25 Feeling Sad

Catherine saw the sadness in her mother-in-law's face. "Mother, why are you looking sad?" she asked even though she already knows the reason why.

Susan wiped the single tear that fell from her eye. "Once Clara will come back, I can no longer see my grandchildren and I can no longer visit them in your residence freely. That is a bit hard for me to accept..."

Catherine smiled at the older woman. "Don't worry, Mother, you will still see the babies once in a while, we can meet in the park or the mall, or we can visit you here," she said.

"Really? You will do that for me?" Susan's face brightened up.

"Yes, Mother. We will just arrange the meeting secretly," Catherine said.

Susan hugged her daughter tightly feeling elated of the offer. "Thank you...Catherine! You truly understand how I feel towards my grandchildren," she said.

Catherine smiled fondly at Susan. She feels sympathetic towards the older woman's difficult situation. But it's also hard for her to have two mothers-in-law at the same time, one not knowing about the other, she was wondering how it's gonna end someday because the situation can't be kept a secret forever. It would have been okay if John's father and Susan don't have a romantic relationship in the past, it would be easy for Clara to accept, but once Clara will know that she was raising the son of her husband's mistress then she will be utterly devastated.

Well...when that moment finally comes hopefully Clara can accept the painful truth easily and not hate John afterward. The worst thing may happen and the mother and son's relationship will break apart after the truth is revealed.

Two hours later.

John arrived in Susan's mansion.

They all began eating lunch together in the dining room while the babies were taken care of by the housemaids.

After lunch.

Susan and John were able to have a mother and son conversation in the study room.

"Mom, the wedding will take place in about two months, I'm so sorry that I can't invite you...out of respect for my mother Clara," John said.

Susan's face automatically registered sadness.

John was feeling sad for his mother Susan, but it's one important event of his life and the chance of the two women's paths will cross is higher on that day. To make sure nothing of that sort happens, his mother Susan shouldn't attend.

Susan knew already that she can't attend the church wedding of her firstborn, but she was still hoping...in the end when it's her son that finally told her it's kind of more sadder than she already anticipated although she already accepted the truth that she can't be there in the church, but maybe she can attend or watch the wedding event from afar... she just has to be creative on how she's going to do that. But for the peace of everyone involved, she might as well not go to the church at all and just stay inside her office and bury herself in the affairs of her businesses so that she won't remember much that it's her son's wedding.

She smiled wonderfully to her son trying to mask the sadness in her eyes. "Don't worry, son. I already accepted that painful truth that your mother Clara and I can never be in the same place at the same time especially that it's your church wedding. I understand...no hard feelings."

"Thank you, Mom, for your understanding," John said. "But don't be sad, you will still see the children once in a while, we can arrange a meeting for you and the babies."

Susan's heart was jumping with joy, at least her relationship with her grandchildren will stay constant and that is one thing that cheers her up and expelled the sadness that she felt after her son told her that she can't attend the church wedding.

"Mom, we're going home after two hours, go play with the children as much as you can," John said.

Susan smiled joyously, it's one thing that she loves doing spending time with the babies, their presence in her life made her happy, every time she saw her grandchildren her heart is filled with so much bliss.

John and Susan went to the indoor swimming pool area to see Mike having fun with baby James in the water while Catherine was sitting in the lounge chair holding baby Angel in her arms. The water looks inviting, John quickly changed into his swimwear and joined his brother Mike and his son in the water. Susan sat on the lounge chair next to her daughter in law.

Catherine gave baby Angel to her granny.

Susan beamed at her granddaughter. "Hello baby Angel...granny here...I love you so much!" she said while nuzzling the baby's cheek, she can't help it but she loves kissing baby Angels cheek, she looked at the younger woman beside her. "Why don't you join them in the pool, Cath?"

Catherine shook her head. "Nah, I will just stay here beside you, Mother," she said. She observed that John and Mike were having so much fun in the pool and she doesn't want to intrude on their brotherly bonding.

Susan squealed in delight when baby Angel smiled at her...while Catherine was feeling amused watching her son playing with his father and his uncle. She smiled a little, it never occurred in her wildest dream to see John and Mike in the same place together, but life is full of surprises. Destiny constantly gave people some circumstances or happenings in their lives that are completely unexpected and absurd.

Two hours later.

John and Catherine's family were now boarding their car going home.

Susan and Mike bid goodbye to them at the entrance of the mansion.

It's another happy weekend bonding moment with Susan's grandchildren and she feels much happier, she wouldn't exchange this wonderful moment for anything in the world.
