94 Confused As Hell!

Caroline went home that afternoon looking troubled.

"Are you okay, daughter?" asked Thelma after seeing her daughter's problematic face passing the living room.

Caroline looked back at her mother. "I'm fine mother," she answered while gazing at baby Cathy sleeping in the crib beside her mother.

"Why did you go home early? Your friend didn't meet you at the mall?" Thelma kept asking.

"She called me, apologizing because she had an emergency at her house," she lied.

"Ah, okay." Thelma returned her attention to the soap opera she was watching on TV.

Caroline proceeds in climbing the stairs.

She went inside her bedroom, dropped her shoulder bag in the table, and starts pacing back and forth inside her room.

Suddenly, she was transported back in time. She remembered so well how loving and caring Greg had been to her way back in the province. When her family no longer has food to eat, he won't hesitate to give her money so that she can buy food for her family. She had no problem with Greg being her lover when they were still together in their hometown. He was a terrific and romantic boyfriend to her, that's her conscience way of reminding her how important Greg was to her in her previous life.

She was eaten by her conscience.

She released a deep sigh.

She went to the closet, took some clothes, and donned them on her body absentmindedly.

A moment later, Thelma was knocking at the door.

Caroline opened the door.

Thelma came into the room and put the sleeping baby Cathy in her crib. "I'm going to take my afternoon nap before preparing for dinner," she said and left the room.

Caroline watched her daughter sleeping peacefully in the crib.

Lately, the only thing that keeps popping in her mind was the question that's been bothering her since she arrived home from the mall after meeting Daniel there.

Should she meet Greg for the last time or no need?

Now it dawned on her...Lucas and Greg are of the same person. So how come Daniel and Greg become blood brothers? That's something that was bothering her as well. Daniel promised her that he would tell her everything if she agreed to visit Greg.

There is nothing to lose if she will just visit Greg once just for old time's sake, right?

They never had closure in their relationship. They just drifted apart from each other because he becomes a wanted man.

She sighed again.

This tug of war happening in her mind is making her crazy.

She was confused as hell!

She can't make up her mind if she will visit Greg or never.

Out of the blue, her phone rings, she received a text message which

comes from an unknown sender, she reads the message.

'Hi Caroline, this is my other number, please store it in your phone. Let me know if you finally decided to visit my brother.'

Caroline breathed deeply, the message was sent by Daniel. She added his new number in her contacts but she didn't bother replying to his message.

She placed the phone on the bedside table.

A moment later, baby Cathy was already awake. Caroline took her daughter from the crib and placed her in the bed, she checked her diaper, it's already wet, she took a new diaper and changes it.

She placed baby Cathy in the bed beside her, giggling and talking to her, showering her chubby face with feathery kisses.

By spending time with her daughter she has forgotten her dilemma for awhile.

Caroline picked up the remote control and turn on the TV, playing her daughter's favorite nursery rhymes.

Fifteen minutes later, she found herself reaching for her phone from the bedside table and typed a message to Daniel asking what is Greg's terminal illness?

After sending the message to him, she waited for his reply which only comes after ten minutes.

'I will tell you about his illness if you finally see my brother. He will tell you himself.'

Eh? That was his reply? So...blurry!

Why did Greg suffer a terminal illness?

What happened to him during the time if his hiding? And what is the kind of life he was living while being a fugitive?

It looks like questions are piling up in her doorsteps that needed immediate answers. Suddenly, she wanted to learn more about what happened to his 'ex' during his hiding. She still can remember those nights that she lay awake thinking when he was going to call her again or even text her? But he never did.

There was now an opportunity to know everything that happened to Greg.

Would she let this opportunity pass away without knowing the answers to the question that has been lurking in her mind through the years? She was about to put her phone away when it starts ringing, she got an incoming call coming from Mike, she eagerly answered it.

"Sweetie...how are you? I miss you!" Mike said at the other end.

Caroline smiled. "I miss you too! What are you doing lately?" she asked.

"I'm busy thinking of you," he said.

"Yeah, you send me more than twenty text messages every day, you are busy indeed!" she smiled.

"Get ready tonight. I'm going to fetch you after dinner. Let's have a romantic date outside, okay?" he said.

Yay! Just what she needs, a distraction. "Yeah, sure!" she answered quickly.

"Alright, see you later, sweetie. I love you!" Mike said.

"I love you too!" she responded swiftly.

"Wow! Sweetie, you just made my day today when you replied, I love you to me. OMG! It made my heart jump in joy. Thank you, sweetie, for loving me," he enthused.

Caroline giggled. "See you later," she said.

"Bye, sweetie!" Mike said happily at the other end.

"Bye-bye!" she replied and ended the call.

She stared at her phone.

Her dilemma resumed in her mind, whether she should see Greg or not...she will decide some other day.

Three hours later, there was a knock on the door.

"Daughter, dinner time!" It's Thelma informing her daughter that dinner was already prepared in the table.

She opened the door. "Thank you, Mother," she replied. "By the way, Mike is coming tonight, we're having a date. Please take care of baby Cathy for me," she said.

"Alright, enjoy bonding with your boyfriend," Thelma said and turned around heading back towards the stairs.

She carries baby Cathy in her arms and went downstairs to enjoy her mother's dishes in the dining table. She handed her daughter to the housemaid sitting in the living room.

The family gathered around the table savoring the Spicy Chicken Adobo and Mixed Vegetable Soup with rice.

One hour later, Caroline finished eating, she left the table and went upstairs to get ready for Mike's coming.

She took a quick shower to freshen herself and put herself in a good mood because she was deeply troubled earlier, she wants to have a good time with her boyfriend tonight and forget all her worries away.

She chooses a sexy chiffon red-orange flowery dress which accentuated her voluptuous body. The garment hugs the contour of her body perfectly. She looked at her image in the mirror, liking what she saw. She liked her stunning attire for tonight.

She applied a little mascara on her flawless face, a little bit of blush on, and applied pink lipstick on her lips.

Perfect!

She wanted to look more beautiful and sexy in the eyes of her boyfriend tonight. She wanted to have fun so that she can push Greg's memory away from her mind.

One hour later.

Mike finally arrived carrying a fresh bouquet of pink roses for his girlfriend.

After handing the flowers to her mother to be put in the flower vase, Caroline and Mike boarded the car and went their way.
