Chapter 01: The break up

The hallway was filled with the hushed voices of the students talking. In the center, a beautiful girl with an astonished face was standing not believing that she was being dumped by her boyfriend. "Amelia, I'm saying this again I, Liam wants to break up with you," said Liam.

He was the most handsome boy in the school. They have been dating each other for about two years, and everything was going fine. So she was having a hard time believing the words he was saying. "Y-you must be joking, right? It can't be true w-why are you doing this at least give me a reason," said Amelia.

Even though she knew the reason for his abrupt breakup she wanted to hear it from his mouth. But why did she feel so... void of any emotion. She did expect it to some point that she would feel that way but his words didn't make her feel in any way just indifferent.

"Look, I've had enough of this we aren't right for each other. I want a girl who can understand me and accompany me. I want a simple girl... and Ashley is just right for me." said Liam.

"You want to break up with me because of Ashley. Well just say that you can't match my standards, humph," said Amelia.

Well now, she started to understand the reason for feeling empty. It was always her standards, heritage, and status. She could never be like others because they always tried to please her because of her family's money she could never trust someone. The envious or contempt-filled eyes always followed her they were never sincere.

"You...Right, I can't match your standards so let's end this," said Liam. Seeing his confident look she wanted to mock him because everything from the top of his head to the bottom of his toes was paid from her money. Even his football coaching lesson was paid for by her. She wanted to see his face after she took it all back. Let's see if he was still this smug.

"Fine as you wish but don't come running back to me like a dog." She held her head high and left for class.

At the cafeteria

Her friends were constantly trying to cheer her up but nothing was working. Finally, one of her friends who had enough of it said "Amy just stop sulking already that jerk doesn't deserve you." said Sophie.

She was not sulking, it was just the feeling of betrayal left a bitter taste in her mouth. Well, it didn't matter anymore it was over and soon he will have the taste of his own medicine.

Amelia replied "I'm not sulking, it's just weird you know. I don't feel anything maybe I didn't love him... that much." Maple looked at her and said, "Well if you don't love him then, just forget about it." Sophie nodded and said, "Yeah, stop thinking about it instead let's play a fun game." Both girls looked at Sophie with interest. "What's the game?" After thinking for a while she mischievously grinned and said "Amy, Maple tell me something you would hate to do."

Maple said "Being a babysitter that's the worst the kids are very noisy ugh."

Amelia thought for a while and said "Dating the introvert in our class it's not the worst but that's all I can think of for now."

The introvert in their class was a little weird. While she was dating Liam he always sends letters to her and the content was always correct like he knew when her favorite shop would open, and the best spot to sit in the library also it was he who told her about Liam cheating with Ashely. He was like a shadow, it gave her goosebumps when thinking about it.

"Well, since you guys answered so honestly. I dare you to do the things you hate for a whole month. "said Sophie

Both of them looked at her with horror on their face "WHAT?"

It was bearable to do it for a week or two but a whole month was just horrendous and she had to date a guy who she found creepy. WTH!!

Sophie looked at them innocently "It can't be that hard right or are you two just scared? Well, there is a reward the invitation to the jewel spring gala what do you say, girls."

Jewel spring gala was the most prestigious gala in high society and the people who could enter were all noble people but the particular thing about this gala was that only people from the age 16 to 23 could attend by entering the gala your future journey will be smooth sailing.

"How did you obtain the invitation card to the jewel spring gala." said Maple

"It's a long story."

"Alright, we accept the dare."

Maple and Amelia shared a look and said "Well, we will do it on the condition that you have to spend the whole month without shopping or wearing luxury items" said Amelia.

"hey that's not fair, I can't buy nor wear luxury things."

"Well, you asked for it." said Maple

Maple while teasing her "Oh...poor Sophie have to be a pauper for the month and no designer clothes or bags."

They could see Sophie's face changing color but she gritted her teeth and said "Well it's only fair so let's do it."

The bell rang Amelia headed to her class while thinking of a plan. (Well, there's one thing for sure: I don't want to hide the fact that this is only a game, I don't want to hurt his feelings, but how should I put it.)

On the other hand, Lucas was staring at Amelia. He had always been attracted to her from the first day of college but before he could confess. She had already started dating that jerk.

He wanted to warn her that he was a jerk and didn't deserve her. He knew she wouldn't believe him at all. Knowing that they have broken up.

He wants to give it a shot even though, his chances aren't that high.

Fortunately, he heard the girls' conversation, and all he has to do is wait.
