The door of Fan Xi's house was full of people after her rebirth screamed. When Ye Fan carried Fan Xi out with a pale face, they wanted to say something to her, but he looked around the crowd. People couldn't speak after that. They only watched them leave.
Fan Xi was unconscious and lay in Ye Fan's arms, but she still felt the tension in the area.
Because she was pregnant after marrying into the Li family, the original owner caused much trouble on the military base. Because of this, everyone was sad for her, but she did not know that Ye Fan would go to her rescue.
Ye Fan hurried to his jeep and opened the back door, so Fan Xi could lie down. He hopped in the driver's seat and increased speed gradually so Fan Xi wouldn't startled.
Fan Xi was physically exhausted and helpless, but she could feel her child wriggling restlessly inside of her.
"Hang in there, Fan Xi. We are going to be at the hospital soon." Ye Fan continued to check Fan Xi's health in the rearview mirror. There was worry in his voice. He even wished he could step on the gas and go straight to the hospital.
Fan Xi was baffled. The marriage was arranged, and Ye Fan already had a prospective spouse in mind. What was it about her that made him so uneasy right then?
However, this was a question that took time to be answered.
Fan Xi mused, " Then, everything was up to fate. I'd rather keep holding on if I could safeguard my unborn child. After I died, Ye Fan and his original fiancee would be able to be together."
About halfway through, she felt the sharp pain of contractions beginning. Fan Xi's face contorted as if in agony. Said, "Ye Fan, it hurt..."
The tension on Ye Fan's forehead had already produced a light sweat. But when he caught sight of Fan Xi's hurt expression and heard her feeble, helpless voice, he slammed on the brake and pulled over. He walked around to the back and gently lifted Fan Xi so she could lean against him.
Given her current condition, it was doubtful that Fan Xi could travel to the hospital. However, there were no clinics or hospitals in the area.
Ye Fan needed to move quickly, so he looked around.
He noticed a familiar figure. He stretched out his hand to open one of the car windows on one side while continuously honking the horn to attract that person's attention.
Ye Fan's anxiety skyrocketed when the other person did not answer, and he eventually yelled.
"Liu Yun!"
Fan Xi's sense of self seemed to be eroding. Ye Fan was shouting in her ears, but she couldn't hear a thing.
Ye Fan had to call out to Liu Yun several times before she went to the car.
Liu Yun was overjoyed to see Ye Fan, "Ye Fan? I didn't expect us to meet here. I just bought some supplies and will see you at the military base."
"Stop speaking and get in the car quickly. My wife can't hold on to going to the hospital anymore. You work as a doctor, too. Quickly come up with a solution. She finds it hard to give birth because the baby is turned-headed."
Ye Fan interrupted Liu Yun's reminiscence and urged her.
His words caused an instantaneous freeze in Liu Yun's body. Then she saw Fan Xi in his arms and knew that the person there was already so frail that she might die at any moment.
"But Ye Fan, you know very well that I …."
She was a doctor but not a gynecologist! From Ye Fan's words, he wanted her to deliver the baby, but how could she? Moreover, it was a difficult labor!
Concern began to creep into Liu Yun's mind.
"You're a doctor. There must be a way, right?" Ye Fan watched with anticipation. His voice softened, but a tremble was audible.
Even though Fan Xi thought she was troubled hearing them, she eventually saw that Ye Fan was pleading with Liu Yun for assistance.
Liu Yun was a doctor. Nothing else mattered as long as she could save the child.
Liu Yun heaved a silent sigh and got in the car.
"These children are innocent. Please protect them first..." Fan Xi grabbed Liu Yun's hand and looked at her thirstily.
"I will give it my best effort."
Liu Yun was unable to give any assurance. She was in the wrong field because of the difficulty of her upcoming labor. Given her current level of expertise, she claimed she could only do so much.
Fan Xi released her hand. She felt a lot more relaxed after hearing Liu Yun's words.
"Ye Fan, I hear that gently pushing the baby with hands helps it position itself in the mother's womb. Fan Xi may not have the patience for it..." Liu Yun looked at Ye Fan in distress.
"I can do it!"
Despite the pain, Fan Xi spoke up before Ye Fan and yelled, "Dr. Liu, Just do it straight away!"
Fan Xi had deliberated over the matter. She had to give birth to the child even if it meant her life was in danger. The child should not be easily lost, even if her life wasn't worth much.
Ye Fan finally made up his mind. Following Liu Yun's instructions, he removed Fan Xi's garments, exposing her pregnant belly.
Fan Xi began to sweat heavily as time went on. She could feel her energy drained away. Liu Yun began to exclaim, "I can see the head! I can see the head!" just as her mind began to blur, she was about to give up.
Fan Xi felt a surge of joy, and then something flowed out of her body.
A scream echoed through the jeep. Liu Yun picked up the baby and exclaimed in shock, "Congratulations, it is a boy!" to Ye Fan and Fan Xi.
Fan Xi sighed with relief as she realized she could finally go to sleep. Her stomach started to churn again, though.
