Chapter 21: Mall

Gil explained to Adam the in and outs of their mission. Starting from how the leaders of the army is starting to eye the southern Barhan. He also explained that right now, the three major forces are actually planning on its each region to reclaim the south from the zombies.

But the southern region is actually the most dangerous part of Bahran, countless monstrosity are hiding in this forbidden land. Even the three major forces together can't can't say for sure how they can contend with the higher tier zombies who owns the south.

Among these forces, the army who have the most number of civilians and the one with the greatest firepower badly needed to gain control of the area. As more mouths are needed to be fed, man to use and with the greatest research power, the resources in City B and other cities in the south will give them a step ahead from the Trojan and the Church.

Having people to talk to, Adam was able to gather the must needed information about Barhan's power distribution. There are 3 major forces that manage the North, East and West regions of Barhan which are respectively the Army, Church and Trojan. Gil and the others belong to a subordinate base of the Army called Pandora and their leader is a tier 4 awakened called Rhea, a 30 years old Flame Magician who awakened the legacy of 'Flame Magician Orthos''.

The relationship of the major forces are actually not that good. Each of them are vying for resources and as time goes by they needed to expand their area to survive in this eschatology. Each leader of these major forces are peak Tier 5 awakened. They are General Anderson who possess the legacy of ' Demon Berserker Indura ' from the Army, Pope Samael with the legacy of ' Holy Priest Sandoval 'of the Espoir Church and the battle maniac from Trojan , Randolph the Killer with the legacy of ' Beast King Arbenar '

The titles of each of those leaders are a notch higher than other awakened making them have a direct leap in strength. At the beginning of the apocalypse, these leaders already possess tier 3 abilities which gave them the capital to develop their forces. Even their cultivation speed is so fast that they reach tier 5 in a short time. But after reaching the peak of tier 5, their progress stagnated like there is a barrier preventing them from becoming tier 6.

The army is currently the most trustworthy force because they care more for the civilians. Aside from having an edge against the other two forces with their weapon production capability, they are also very open for cooperation earning them lots of people's respect.

The Espoir Church on the other hand is very devoted to an ideal that awakened and evolutionary are the future generation. It is the base with the greatest number of evolutionary and awakened gathered around the country who bears the word " Hope ". Having the greatest number in ability users, they lack most is the number of people. The civilians in Espoir Church are few and are treated as servants by the evolutionary and awakened. The purpose of ordinary people in the Church is to perform the tasks like farming and cleaning and is still being mistreated by some unscrupulous people who regards themselves as higher beings.

Trojan is even worse, with their leader who was a serial killer judged with life imprisonment. He gathered the surviving prisoners and criminals all over the country and formed a den of bandit in the west region. They resort to kidnapping women for torture and some poor woman can only serve as toys for them.

Randolph even earned the title " Killer " as he massacred the City he was imprisoned, leaving no zombie and humans alive. On that very city, he set a base in the west region under the numerous corpse that he killed.

To survive, a power system was decided by the most powerful parties and those lower than them can only stay at the side and let those with greater power control their fate. It's not that someone forces tried to go against the super bases, especially those from the west who know how dangerous and evil Randolph the Killer was. But in front of Randolph, these complaints were easily extinguished as Randolph crushed the tier 3 base leader who tried to complain.

This Trojan Base is the most hated force by the Army. Unfortunately, Trojan is very powerful and the Army can't win without having to pay a huge price.

This information were given by Gil while they are walking leisurely towards the mall. Gil on the side didn't know that Adam have no prior idea about Barhan. He just thought that maybe Adam wants to know the current state of the forces and as a qualified informant, Gil started from the very beginning.

He didn't have a perfect gauge of Adam's strength but looking at Arthus, he didn't have the courage to know. It was still fresh on his mind how a casual swing of a sword had almost taken his hand.

They were even shocked when Arthus cover them with dark mist to clean their body because according to him, they are contaminating the air around Adam. Hearing this reason, they don't know what to think about this absurd situation. But looking at Adam's fresh and handsome figure, they can't refute this reason. ' Yes, it's not right to smell so bad when those around you are so good.' Gil can only concede with this fact.

Gil and his team can only turn a blind eye of this metal giant's meticulousness.

After a few turns and twists, they finally reached the vicinity of the mall.

In front of Adam stood a medium size mall compared to the super malls in his previous life. But still, searching for supplies in this mall will take some time. Gil and his team didn't have a map of the building structure therefore they don't even know where the foods are located.

Adam feels a headache, truthfully he doesn't want to divide his uncle skeletons because he's not sure know whether he can cope up and protect everyone in case some danger shows up.

Then a brilliant idea hit Adam.

' Hehehe... it's time to show your worth my babies.'

" [ Summon: Ancient Devil Bug ] "

Another layer of dark mist revolves around Adam, forming dark figures in the air. Then suddenly, hundred buzzing sounds filled the area and even the clothes and hair of everyone present are being blown by the wind .

Gil and his team only had goosebumps upon seeing these enlarge bugs. Each of this bugs look like beetles the size of an adult's fist with dark carapace and beautiful red marking on it's exoskeleton.

These survivors from Pandora can only wonder just how much strength is hiding inside Adam's body. Even the power of their base leader didn't give them as much surprise as today.

Gil can only be sad that he never had the luck to have awakened a power. If he had awakened, his life would have become better in this apocalyptic world. There's no need to risk his life to search supplies, no need to scavenge for food from dangerous places like the fallen region and lastly, he may have even escaped the chance of encountering the devil child, Adam.

Now, his future become even more uncertain thinking that a powerful awakened will one day knock on his door and ask for his life.

'The limit of this kid is really unimaginable.'

On the air, the devil bugs are forming a neat formation waiting on Adam's order.

Seeing the enthusiasm of his devil bugs, Adam only smiled slightly and commanded. " Go, find where the foods and clothes are."

After giving instruction, the bugs sprang like bullets and directly smashed the glass walls of the mall. The flight speed of ancient devil bugs are very fast where one can only see shadows as they fly.

The zombies inside the mall who were attracted by the shattering glass didn't even have the time to react as their heads explode due to the collision with bugs. They are like cannonballs who smashes zombies like nothing. But this is not what makes them scary. The detonating power of a bug is very big that ten of them can even make this small collapse. In simpler term, this bugs is the best demolition team though at the price of their lives.

Of course Adam will not let these bugs explode as it was not his purpose for todays trip. He needs clothes, utensils, equipments and variety of foods and he still have the reasoning to not try the explosive power of his bugs inside the mall.

Seeing the bugs went first, everyone around become silent. They can only released a sigh from this display of might. ' Even his bugs are awesome. '

" What do we need to do now Mr. Adam?" Gil asked. He become even more cautious seeing that Adam even have a powerful aerial creatures who are also powerful. The speed and strength of those ancient devil bugs can even contend with the silver skeletons around Adam.

' Can't provoke, must never provoke!' Gil and the other survivors said in their hearts.

Adam who was directed to such question can only give a cursory glance like from a superior and say, " They are scouting the area. We will wait for them to return and directly go to the food section. "

Hearing this, Gil can only shut up and wait on the side.

' You're the big brother here. Everything must go according to your wish.' Gil thought with the air of a subordinate.

And there will be some changes in my word counts starting this chapter. I had decided that each chapter will at least have 1500 words unlike last chapters which only have have an average word count of 1000.

This is also to prepare myself for the incoming online class which may affect my updates. I can only probably post one or two chapter a day.
